Haven’t visited the Algarve for nearly 20 years and after extensive research plumped for the Tivoli Marina Hotel . The setting is ideal with the Atlantic out front , and the vibrant Marina out the back . The hotel reception is impressive as is the welcome from each and every member of staff . Facilities are of a very high standard and rooms are comfortable, spacious all with fantastic views .I was a little disappointed , for a 5 star hotel , to be faced with only one choice of restaurant , buffet for breakfast and Steakhouse for dinner. Had a great weeks holiday which was marred by two significant issues : Old conference centre has been demolished and new one being erected ; noise of piling not ideal for a relaxing break ,albeit with limited hours and The Hotel hosting a major medical conference for 4 days in the middle of my holiday, with areas and toilets cordoned off . Neither issue was brought to my attention , by either travel company nor hotel management , again would expect more from 5 star hotel . Lastly in pursuit of quiet life had opted for half board ,but was disappointed by Table d’Hote menu : opted for a la Carte which although expensive ,menu and wine list were of a much higher standard. However surroundings , staff and service were excellent. By way of balance , poolside bar had excellent snack menu and again service was first class .
Great central location, beautiful views of the marina, lots of restaurants within 5 minutes walk. Large hotel but very friendly staff. Clean rooms, quite spacious. Stunning views from both sides of the hotel. Watch the multi millionaires bring in their yachts and dock them right outside the hotel. Great breakfast with huge choice and all beautifully prepared with daily freshly baked bread and cakes. Hotel reception areas a a bit soulless and very large.
This was our 2nd visit to the Tivoli and had another great stay. The location is great, rooms very spacious , clean and bright and the view of the Marina is fabulous. We were only there for 2 days and had requested and early check which we were able to get so this was a great start to our short break. On our previous visit we ate in Peppers and decided to eat there again and the food was just as good as we remembered. The staff are very friendly and I would highly recommend staying here
Hotel and rooms clean and well maintained. Staff friendly and helpful. No complimentary tea and coffee which was disappointing. Pool area clean with plenty of loungers and shade if needed. Breakfast was excellent can't comment on other food as did not eat in hotel.
We just recently got back. Lovely hotel and the spa is great. The frustration we had is given the amount of money you have already have paid, the added charges is a bit poor. For example they charge for wi-fi daily or weekly, it's only free for 1hour of your stay. They charge for coffee in your room. They also charge €20 for sunbed for hotel section on the beach, this is basic expectation In a premium hotel so came across as a bit poor in my book. You can stay in a travelodge and get free wifi for duration of your stay and free coffee facility. Bit of a let down on the basics I'm afraid. Otherwise a lovely hotel, and staff were fantastic.
Really nice holiday, great staff, all the guests were really polite! Full of lovely, polite and friendly staff and guests. Will go again! The food was great, loads of variety.... Would definitely recommend!
I am just back from a fantastic stay at the Tivoli Marina. This was my first solo trip and naturally I was a bit apprehensive/nervous. The Tivoli Marina came recommended to me by a few friends. They had stayed here and knew it would be very safe and comfortable for me. The location is absolutely excellent and as I was travelling alone, taxis were one thing I wanted to avoid. I literally arrived in the hotel and didn't need a taxi until the day I left. Everything is on the doorstep - the beach on one side and the marina on the other. I asked for a sea view room at the time of booking, but when I arrived I was given a marina view. I rang down to reception but I was told that they were trying to put as many people as possible at the marina side due to the construction work. I appreciated this and gratefully accepted the marina view, which was absolutely beautiful. It was so nice to sit on the balcony and watch the world go by. I am not sure what exactly is being constructed but the work by day didn't really bother me. Obviously it would be better without it, but obviously the construction is necessary. I never heard anything by night. I stayed on a B & B basis and the food was delicious - only had two other meals in the hotel as I like to go out and about. The restaurants and bars in the Marina itself are fantastic. The cleanliness of the hotel, the friendliness of the staff etc. were all top notch. I have stayed in many five star hotels and my only LITTLE complaint is that the drinks were a bit pricey (compared to other five stars), but as I say, only a minor thing!! They were still worth it. All in all, it was a wonderful hotel and I will most definitely be returning!!!
The hotel had building works going on, the beach club house was demolished during our stay, so unable to use the beach. Gym and pools were in poor condition. Our bedroom is wasn't particularly large fur a deluxe twin room and an awful smell developed towards end of stay, affecting floors 6 to 9
We are here currently and I have to add a review - I travel extensively as part of my work and this is probably one of the best hotel I have stayed at. My folks have lived in Portugal for 15 years so been coming here for ages. First time at Tivoli. The staff are brilliant from the maids who look after us to the staff on the front desk and concierge to the restaurant staff. It is really difficult to create excellent customer service seem effortless 5 staff to Tivoli Marina.
If you are thinking of booking this hotel don’t. If you have already booked this hotel don’t go. Cancel or switch to the Crowne Plaza . The conference centre has been demolished and they are building a new one. The Tivoli is a wonderful hotel with great facilities and excellent staff but I am really sorry to say that during our stay there (April 2017) there was a LOT of noise from the construction site – take a look at my pictures to see what the Tivoli is really like at the minute. If you want to see videos, just send me a direct message, One night the piledriving carried on until midnight and another morning it started at 7am. We complained to the hotel (and we weren’t the only unhappy guests) about both these incidents but basically there is nothing the staff can do. It was such a shame as we had such high expectations for what seems to be a great hotel. Ironically, even though they have demolished the conference centre they are still holding conferences in the hotel. There was a medical conference on the week we were there, so large sections of the lobby etc were closed off to guests as stalls were set up and there was no direct access to the marina either. Guests had to go around the houses to get out the front of the hotel. It was a bit of a joke. I personally found the best way to deal with the noise was to be in bed every night by eleven or midnight and get up at seven or eight (no late nights on this holiday) then basically leave the hotel and spend the day elsewhere. The lido down by the Crowne Plaza is quite cheap and far enough away for the noise not to be a bother (so you can still use the beach) and the bus stop is close by for daytrips to Faro and Albufeira. Within the hotel grounds it is actually a bit quieter on the loungers away from the pool over by Purobeach nighclub. We spent a few hours there one afternoon and it wasn’t as bad. A complete let-down. Won’t be back and will be advising people not go to go anywhere near this hotel.
