Had a great time here.lovely hotel. Would recommend it. Easy access to the marina , Beach and the town. Good value for money when you eat or drink out and about in lagos. Bus and train station 5 minutes walk away.

I stayed here for two weeks. From check in to check out the staff were friendly and helpful. No question or task was too small. On check-in, consider signing up to the loyalty programme. It might seem odd, but it means free Wi-Fi and a newspaper every day. Breakfast was enjoyable, with a variety of hot, cold, sweet, savoury and cereal type offerings along with coffee at the push of a button (essential for me!). It is also available much earlier than the advertised times, which is great if heading off on an early tour and/or checking out early on the final morning. There are also a couple of restaurants and live music on site, but as I only availed of this once, I can’t really give an opinion other than the food was tasty and the experience was relaxed. The free hourly bus service to and from one of the beaches from the front of the hotel was great when needing a quick change of sunny scene, and a number of the trips and tours that I organised picked me up and/or dropped me at the hotel door as well. I used the outdoor pool area most days. There is the usual tourist problem that residents put their towels down at the crack of dawn and disappear for a few hours (sometimes longer), but I am an early bird so that didn’t bother me, as I usually got a three or four hours by the pool in the morning, headed for a lazy lunch and a wander and came back to the pool from about 4pm or 5pm for another few hours. However, the pool area did get a little untidy as the day progressed when plastic bottles, cups and cigarette packets, etc. were left by beds, but that would easily rectified with an occasional check by staff when taking orders by the pool. The health club has two small gyms, an indoor pool, a Jacuzzi and massage/treatment rooms (which can be booked through reception after about 9:30-ish). The gyms were generally busiest in the morning, while the pool and Jacuzzi were busier in the late heat of the day, but I worked the opposite way around so that didn’t bother me. There is a computer room which is free for residents. Given all the gadgets we have, it isn’t used much, but it does come in handy when printing tour vouchers and boarding cards, etc. A lot has been said by other reviewers about the decor and furniture being in need of updating, so I won't say much other than my room (in the main part of the building) was clean, the furniture dated but comfortable with wear and tear evident on the carpets and doors - but that wasn't enough to put me off as I wasn't in room that much anyway. (The hotel seems to be planning renovations, etc. this autumn/winter anyway.) On the positive side, the shower was great, the AC worked really well and was easy to use (although I turned it off mid-evening due to drops in temperature) and the balcony got the late afternoon and evening sun. There were also a couple of easily accessible power points for charging all my gadgets. Overall, this was a great base for my two weeks (which was close to town, main strip, restaurants, marina and well known by tour providers for trips ) and the staff were always pleasant and approachable.

To improve the quality of products served over breakfast, improve roomservice food after 21h30. Serve something more than just a sandwich with cheese or ham. Improve quality of the rooms. The TV is old, acces of electricity to plug in phones and computers, ...

What a maze!! We had to take a combination of 3 lifts and 3 flights of stairs just to get to our room. Hubby went to the pool and I got lost getting there. Eventually got there but wow what a way to keep fit. The decor is in need of an update, faded orange upholstery throughout. Good location though, and staff were friendly

I emailed the hotel a month before we arrived as when I got a room it was twin or double bed. I requested a double bed and assumed they would just push 2 beds together, they did say they couldn't guarantee a double bed but as above how hard is it to join to twin beds? We arrive and get taken to our room right at the back and bottom of the hotel. The room is very very dated (which isn't a problem really, i have stayed in rooms that were very dated) but there were 2 separate twin beds with a huge concrete side table between them that could not be moved so the beds could not be pushed together. Reception was called but they said no double bedrooms were available but we should try the next day. We then moved the beds forward to push them together and noticed the dust and dirt that the beds had been hiding. The walls also had big dark marks on them and I took a shower not long after getting the room for the first time and noticed a pubic hair on the soap dish in the shower. On top of this I looked at the ice cube tray in the mini fridge and it had what looked like black mould all over it. The room had a massive old box tv which meant we couldn't set up our Amazon fire stick but it wasn't a massive issue apsrt from the fact the satellite was down (it was not fixed the whole 8 days we were there) so there was only one channel and it was only adverts for things to do in Lagos that went round on a loop. On top of that our phones could not find the wifi at all in the room. As it was advertised that there was free wifi available everywhere in the hotel I feel this needed to be pointed out. We did manage to get a new room with a double bed the next day (which was 2 twin beds pushed together) and the room was lighter and cleaned better, it felt like the people who paid for rooms like this were more looked after than the room we had been in before. In this room we could find the Wi-Fi and connect but only near the front door (the router was just outside our room as well) so we had to leave a phone by the front door with hotspot on to be able to use a phone or our Amazon fire stick (this room had a more modern tv with HDMI port) even with this fix when the phone was displaying 4 bars of Wi-Fi it would struggle to load facebook! Considering they say its super fast Wi-Fi that you can use to play games on I feel like this needs to be noted also. We told reception about it but it seemed to us like they didn't really care about it and the maintenance guy sent to out room confirmed Wi-Fi in the rooms was bad but he couldn't do anything to fix it. The new room we had whilst otherwise cleaner (although there was a lot of dust under the beds) did have one issue, there were ants living in the walks. We though at first they were coming in through the open balcony door and told reception, the maintenance guy sprayed some stuff outside and for a couple if days they stoped coming in through the balcony door, however there will still ants crawling around. I dropped a little bit of chocolate without realising and then it was being marched under the mini fridge by loads of ants! Next food was dropped by the side of the bed next to the wall and the same thing happened ants marched out from the wall and started taking it back with them. All very fascinating I must say but not what you want from a 4 star hotel. One of the times my boyfriend and I were out of the room and the cleaners cleaned (although they only changed the bedsheets once in the 7 days we were in that room) they decides to put all the beers and fruit in the fridge but didn't' take note that the fridge now couldn't shut meaning everything in there was warm by the time we got back. Including the dairy free spread we had to buy ourselves even though i notified the hotel of my boyfriend's dairy allergy before arrival. The pool was ok and the breakfast was as you would expect. The hotel did provide us with a plate of fruit as an apology but the ants were attracted to this so we were put off it. Lagos its self is amazing and I would recommend Lagos to anyone.

The position of the hotel is superb, near the harbour, restaurants and shopping. The bus to the Duna beach is an excellent service. The breakfast was plentiful and the al a carte restaurant was perfect food. We only booked bed and breakfast so we could eat out but it is worth eating at the hotel at least one night. We were disappointed with our rooms but the bathroom was adequate with plenty of hot water any time of day. This will be a beautiful hotel when the refurbishment is finished and we wouldn't hesitate staying here again.

The Tivoli is a bit tatty in places (there is a rumour of refurbishment this winter) and you should not stay here if the fact that the TV is not state-of-the-art and one of the tiles in the bathroom is cracked would ruin your holiday. We had a lovely stay there. The essentials are fine; the room was quiet, the shower was good, air-con worked well, mini-bar always stocked etc. It has character too as it consists of several buildings of varying vintage on a slight hill with a quite cleverly designed and spacious atrium. Our room was on the lower level accessed via a small garden with ponds containing fish and turtles and a balcony overlooking another courtyard garden. The pool terrace is nice although not large enough to accommodate enough sunloungers. Never mind, there is a regular free shuttle to a great beach where Tivoli guests get free loungers and a discount in the restaurant. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location couldn't be much better, 2 minutes from cafe's and bars and the marina where all the excursions sail from. The main town is charming and largely unspoilt and is a gentle 10 minutes away, quite lively with buskers, shops and lots of good restaurants (the lamb stew is a must and "Ol' Bastards" is fun with great fish n' chips). WARNING: If you have a bird phobia do not eat on the terrace. The gulls are expert at swooping in to steal your breakfast!!

Hotel is ideally located. Staff friendly and helpful (although would be good to have more staff on reception). Breakfast good although would be better if more fresh fruit rather than tinned peaches. Rooms and bathrooms clean however in need of major update as very dated and tired looking.

Stained rugs, blood on desks, a mouse maze to room, and charged for ice, does not make one want to return. Everything was nickel and dime and not worth the cost. If you try to eat outside for breakfast, you are attacked by seagulls. Hard beds with sub par bedding.

Far from the expected 4 star experience. Asked for an ashtray to place on the balcony on several occasions. It came the night before we left. Cleaning of the bathroom were subpar. Staff at the pool area seemed bewildered and slow. No one kept the area around the pool clean during the day, leaving thrash to fly around. Bad quality of food. Some good things though. Common areas inside were quite cool. For instance the smokers lounge. Speed and quality of staff were generally not up to par.
