Just come back from this popular hotel and by and large it was good. Firstly, the hotel is within easy walking distance of Vilamoura Marina so is well located for this. On arrival, check in was quick and English was well spoken. Friendly attitude of the staff varied but was generally OK. We were on the 4th floor and there are both lifts and stairs to these floors. Generally the room was very well presented with only the odd piece of furniture in need of retirement. As usual the room lacked lots of sockets for us power hungry Brits, but we managed. On arrival there was a bowel of fruit and also a glass bottle of water which led us to believe that the bottled water out of the fridge was free of charge, this was our mistake as the water used was added to the bill at the end of our stay. Something else which these days was a bit cheeky was use of the safe which was 2.50 euro`s a night. The bed was the usual 2 singles affair but were at least very comfortable. Air con was efficient, controllable and quiet in use. There is a hair dryer in the bathroom but as usual was not powerful. The shower over the much dated bath lacked power but was always constant in temperature. The bath towels were nice and soft (for a change) and changed daily. The design of the bathroom was such that there was a small metal door stop right in front of the toilet and I regularly hit my toe on it, especially in the night. Breakfast was plentiful but I could not say I enjoyed the English breakfast much at all as it was always cold at worst and only warm at best, that said there was plenty of choice of breads, fresh fruit & croissants. Fresh omelettes were a better bet as they were cooked from scratch in front of you and obviously piping hot. What impressed me most about this hotel was how clean the whole place was both inside and out, possibly one of the cleanest hotels that I have stayed in for a long while. The usual rush for sunbeds did not materialise at all and beds at the time we stayed were available until about 11 o`clock most days. This was due to the fact that the hotels position meant that the sun did not fully the cover the pool until 10:00/10:30 any day. But having said that the sun did then stay over the entire area til about 18:30/19:00. (It was 35 degrees whilst we were there) The pools are not huge, but although the bigger of the 2 pools starts off at 0.79 metre`s there is a nasty slope which is slippery about half way down leading to deeper water of over 2 metre`s. Again always clean and well maintained. There is a snack bar that opens from about 10;00 - 18;00 which serves beer (Superbrock), ice creams & very enjoyable food. Nightlife at night was almost non existent from what we saw and this is an area I think the hotel lacks in. The reception area has lots of chairs and a few sofa`s but it lacks atmosphere for me. The bar is tucked away at the bottom and for me it could easily of been a bingo hall. Different lighting, furniture and a cosmopolitan atmosphere would transform the area but I guess that most people are drawn to the Marina just 5 minutes away which is a pity as all the staff whether it be cleaners, reception, poolside or inside doing the bar are exceptionally hard working and attentive yet the bar area feels dare I say it dead. Vilamoura Marina is a thriving place and busy right up til the small hours of the morning. There are many fine places to eat and drink and prices are good compared to modern Greece. 2 places I would personally recommend to eat are O Marisco fish restaurant and nosolo italia for pizza. Personally also I would book the fish restaurant as it gets busy for how ever many times you will need it throughout your stay. Up until 21;00 the Marina is busy, from 22;00 it is heaving at times. We didnt find anywhere where the food was bad, food restaurants were good and better, it`s as simple as that. There is an ATM in the Marina too for those who have spent their money quicker than they had hoped! There are many shops selling clothes for the ladies but little for the men to do except wait outside or frequent the nearest pub of which there are many. All in all a nice hotel that is very clean and will not disappoint. With the Marina so close and only 35 minutes from Faro airport it will tick a lot of boxes that both single people, couples and families are looking for. If I had to rate it out of 10, I would give it 8.5

I didn t stay in Vilagale marina this summer but I decide dinner 1 night in buffet hotel. Every years I stay in Vilagale for holidays or breaks and I always dinner in Vilagale buffets because they are always nice, well cook and has good quallity/price. Last weak we went to dinner in Vilagale marina and it was not a nice experience... we stay very disapointed with it. Staff is very young ans with out any experience but kind, disches are basic. only one fisch and pork in grill, salads are basic and seems more like a canteen, only a past with a few ingredients and the cooker burn it! We wait a long time for grill and cooker has no experience, fisch was not well grilled. The cooker disches was only duck and meatballs. Deserts are nice but only 3 diferent fruits, cakers are good. We par 22 euros each person without drinks and buffet was basic, bad service. Very disapointed..... I can t give my opinion about rooms and other services because we didn t use it.

Always self catered before,so was a bit apprehensive after booking, but I was not disappointed. Arrived for an early check in, top floor, fantastic views. Staff very helpful. We had just breakfast, plenty of it and various selections. Indoor pool was so relaxing after a day out in the sun, we only went in outdoor one a few times, but plenty of seats and alll very clean. We hired bikes from TIC, only €15 a day. Great bars and restaurants, but worth while leaving marina and going around the side streets. Beaches great, best one was Falisia, only a mile walk, but it is all sand when you go in sea, the others have stones. Great hotel great location.

We stayed here for 9 nights and would highly recommend it. The hotel was very clean breakfast was excellent with such a variety of food aand the staff were all very nice and helpful. The pool area was very spacious and there was never really a problem getting a sun bed. There was clean towels in the room daily and for the pool area grey towels which you returned after you used them. There was also bar service at the pool which was great. All in all a very enjoyable stay at this hotel and will definitely be back.

Very conveniently located to both marina & beach. Rooms relatively basic, but functional all the same. Kids have a Z bed which was met with disappointment. Breakfast are very good. Pool is absolutely freezing tho clean. Foyer is like a canteen, could do with a refurb. The hotel is convenient & clean, however lacks atmosphere both in entertainment area & pool other than the families that are there. Kids club is non existent really. Unless you constitute colouring in as entertainment. No engagement made with the kids. Their presence is observed but very little going on. Overall this is our second stay & would stay again in peak season as it's reasonably priced. P.s bring more hangers with you.

First impressions on entering are great - pool area immediately visible and a clean, professional lobby. Breakfast is good with a vast range to choose from and efficient waiting staff. Many TV channels to choose from and a large bathroom area. Just a few minutes walk to the Marina area and 10 minutes walk to Quarteira for a more authentic experience of the area. The wi-fi in our room however was poor and the lack of ironing facilities were 2 negatives, otherwise, highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed for a week with my wife and 15year old son. It wasn't our first visit to VG Marina, but it probably will be our last. We arrived at 11.30pm to be given a room on the first floor, when entering the room there was only one bed (we'll actually two singles pushed together) so had to go back to reception to sort out a bed for my son. Not a great start. Couldn't work the safe, which following another visit to reception we were told it cost €2.50 pee night to hire. I accept this isn't expensive but when I've paid £160 per night, I'd expect a safe to be included. It was a bit tight around the pool and the loungers are quite close together - there is a bit of a need to strategically pick your lounger as due to the tall structure of the building, not all loungers start or end the day in the sun. The breakfast was very busy and normally needed to queue for a while to get a table - the food was decent if a bit samey! Actually got told off by a waitress for taking a bottle of water to my table one morning, which I found bizarre. The worst point happened on our second to last day when my wife was in the bathroom, a couple were given a key to our room and entered to her horror. Reception were apologetic but this should never happen. The hotel is perfect for access to the marina but not sure it takes full advantage of this.

2nd visit to this property our last was 2 years ago. Accommodation very good, was allocated 4th floor on arrival and asked for high floor if available - was immediatly given 9th floor room where views over Marina spectacular. Breakfast and dinner buffet style and had noticibly less choices than last time but still adequate. Lunch at poolside bar was very good and reasonably priced obviously to keep guests in the resort. Only criticism ice cream freezer broke down on our 2nd day and had still not been fixed when we left. They really should have tried to fix it as we experienced temperatures of nearly 40 degrees Staff were very good and helpful. No problem getting a sun lounger round the pool. Pool cleaned every day. Would recommend this hotel for location staff and food

We stayed for a weekend in May, the hotel is in a perfect location for the lovely beach and the marina. We had a suite which was a great size albeit a bit dated. The pool area looked fine - plenty of sunbeds with still enough room to move around without feeling packed in. The breakfast was plentiful although as this is a golf resort it was very busy at certain times and could be a bit tight walking through the tables - miss these times and it was comfortable. Sadly this is purpose built golf resort/marina so full of Irish bars and high street restaurants so none of the charm of a Portuguese town.

Just back from a fabulous week in Vila gale marina. It was excellent. Perfect location- 5 Min walk from marina. Staff are lovely, helpful and efficient. Breakfast had everything. Hotel was very clean .Pool was really nice, relaxing and again very clean but the best bit was the view from the bedroom balcony of the marina. I don't know how anybody could find fault with this hotel.
