Just returned to Spain 🇪🇸 from this hotel in Algarve, Portugal 🇵🇹 hotel undergoing refurbishment but not disturbed during my stay. Staff make or break a place - reception staff were superb, helpful and friendly., thank you. Bedrooms spotlessly clean, I asked one of the room cleaners for a rubber mad for the shower which was delivered immediately. Buffet breakfast good and plenty of choice including fresh fruits, good choice of cheeses etc and bacon delicious. Great choice of teas etc. First visit to Portugal so I am not conversant with prices of alcoholic drinks there but hotel bar prices were very high with very small measures, Bombay Saphire G & T for example 9 euros & I couldn’t taste or smell the gin. Told the barman this and his answer was that the tonics were large. I informed him that where I live & other countries the gin is poured in front of you and the tonic left on the side thus enabling one to pour what they want. Very small measures used to pour the spirits. Glad therefore to search the area & found a couple of good pubs, OBE with excellent Guinness at 4 euro a pint. Portuguese people very pleasant and helpful and no language problems.
Visited this hotel for my main holiday of the year with Thomson holidays and for my wedding anniversary we knew the restaurants around the marina wold be expensive so we went half board what a big mistake. Breakfast ok evening meal terrible ok if you like boiled meats or salad. Entertainment was none existent and drinks at the bar were expensive. We were woke in the morning by all I can describe as middle aged man (golfers) acting like teenagers shouting across balconies with foul language and remarks, evenings weren't so bad as when they came back from golf they went out and visited the three should I say gentlemen's clubs near the hotel. My rep made a report when I complained but nothing was done . VILA GALA MARINA you need to cater for all your guests and not just for the golfers who think that they have the run of the hotel. Very dissatisfied my advice is unless you are 50 going on 18 and don't play golf avoid this hotel
First visit since it's been done up. Refurb nothing special but an improvement indeed as it was a bit tired last time Rooms a lot better. Clean, warm and well appointed Staff pleasant and helpful. Only had breakfast but it was a decent spread with plenty of choice and good coffee Back in Feb for a week. Not necessarily one I'd choose to stay in with the missus but absolutely ideal for a group of golfers like we were In summary a decent choice all round
Stayed here again for the second year running but instead for a longer duration. Main reason for returning is the location of the hotel. Had requested a high floor room with afternoon sun which was met as we were on the highest floor possible. Unfortunately our first few nights were ruined by the hotel guests next door repeatedly coming home in the early hours of the morning very drunk, screaming at one another & singing awful renditions of 80's songs. Hotel is very much aimed at older hen & stag parties, along with golfing groups. Breakfast is a little bit of a mad scramble & not enough tables for guests so would advise to arrive there slightly earlier than the hungover people to find a clean table. Would suggest only going B&B as the marina is just around the corner with better food options/prices than the hotel. Better atmosphere on the marina than the hotel 'entertainment' too.
Great stay was had here. The hotel doesn't have as much green space as others in Vilamoura but considering it is so large, we had a great time. The pool is big and you never have trouble getting sunbeds. Never tried food in evening but breakfast was very nice and we had an outstanding room on the 9th floor overlooking the marina. Would highly recommend.
Great trip .lovely staff lots of golfers but that was expected .Had Dinner in the restaurant twice both excellent .look forward to a return visit .We were there for 2 weeks so breakfast became a bit boring.
We had a fantastic week staying at the Vila gale marina. We were in one of the senior suites, amazing view and great facilities throughout for a relaxing holiday. Would definitely recommend to family and friends to stay here.
Hotel Vila Gale Marina Excellent location being close to the Marina, bars and numerous restaurants “But” Whether it’s because October is one of the peak months for golfers but the surrounding area was like an Harlem Brothel come darkness with prostitutes everywhere including in and out of the lifts of hotel, most nights followed up the drive of the hotel. “Lots of older men with drop dead gorgeous Russian and Eastern European women strapped to their arm. Not a place for families (kids) Hotel clean and rooms adequate, breakfast and food was ok but breakfast/dining area not big enough Pool area and sun beds ok “Great location for golf and knocking around off”
We visited this hotel as a late break in August for 4 nights. We usually go for 5* hotels but we’re limited with the choice as we booked so late. We had never been to Portugal before and after speaking with friends, decided that Vilamoura was a good choice. We weren’t disappointed. Vilamoura is beautiful. The hotel reception check-in was quick and easy. Our room wasn’t quite ready so we changed in the bathrooms and went to the beach until it was. First impressions were that reception was nice and looked clean and airy. When we got to our room it was average sized but clean which is important to us. We had a view over the marina and pool. There was a bed waiting outside the room for our 11 year old daughter. It was a bit of a squeeze but I’m not moaning about that - it was fine. Our daughter is Coeliac and requires a gluten free diet. We were surprised at how well they catered for her. We were HB and although we had breakfast every day at the hotel, we liked to eat at the harbour some times. I can’t fault the restaurant at the hotel though. The food was good and they were very particular with what our daughter ate. We didn’t use the pool although did overlook it from our room and it looked very busy every day. All in all this was a good 4* hotel and if we got a good deal here we would go back.
Vila Gale Marina is a bit dated in places. We had a terrific time. Outdoor Jacuzzi was my favourite. It was a short stroll to the marina lots of restaurants and bars not to mention shops. The food was very nice at the hotel! We only ate breakfast and some chips from the outside bar, the food others had looked very nice.
