This is our 5th stay at Quinta do Lago Hotel. Location is beautiful - very quiet setting. Standard of service throughout hotel is excellent - in particular the breakfast staff. The breakfast area - close to the pool - is beautifully set out and standard of food extremely good. We booked a garden view room - room very spacious - my only gripe would be that the shower is in the bath! Hopefully this will be remedied in the future. For sure we will return!
Location is the best in Quinta do Lago, just near the Gigi beach ! Service is perfect , probably the best ever met ! food at Restaurant is also great , mainly the Sunday buffet ! Choose a room with sea view , will be great to enjoy wonderful sunsets
Our stay at the Quinta do Lago was a really nice, relaxing and enjoyable experience. As a couple with a three years old, we booked a “spa stay”, 4 days with some spa treatments and an airport transfer included (and a bottle of port in the room - lovely). The hotel delivered faultlessly on all accounts. They gave us a call in advance to check our flight (we gave a wrong arrival flight number) and sent a luxury car for the airport pickup. Our check-in was excellent, with staff greeting you on arrival and calling you by name. The room (with garden view) was spacious, even though we had an additional child bed in there. The en-suite bathroom was extremely well appointed. We valued the fact we could really relax and rest in this place. Even though we were in high season and the hotel was reasonably busy, it was spacious enough and had enough staff so that you did not have to queue/wait for anything. The management was also readily available for feedback. We used most of the hotel’s facilities (kids club, spa, swimming pools, business room, evening bar) and all were very good. All the front-line staff showed a very good balance between a friendly and efficient attitude (they appear to have been with this hotel for a long time, a sign of good management). The kids club was well managed, with a good staff to children ratio (more staff on what was planned to be a busy day). We filled in a contact form and there was an explicit option to signify you wanted them not to lose sight of your child which was reassuring. The spa was very professional, with good facilities, and a vast range of treatments. We checked the restaurant on the first evening and enjoyed a lovely meal (obviously there was a good choice of fish), overlooking the bay and shrouded with a lovely sunset. The food was a tastebuds’ delight and beautifully presented, with a large choice of drinks. An amazing restaurant. We also had room service for dinner twice during our stay and both times it really was fantastic. The food was from the restaurant and served very well, with a smile. The area is beautiful, the beach is within a few minutes’ walk through the hotel’s gardens and then a wooden bridge to the shore. I was initially worried the hotel was too far from the beach but in fact it was fine, you can access it easily and they have a private area with on-site staff giving you towels and water. The sandy beach (including the public areas) was not overly busy even in this high season time. (maybe we were there later in the day when people appeared to leave back home). There are other restaurants and shops higher up in the resort, you could walk there or grab a taxi. Any drawbacks? The price of course is in line with the service. However, we felt much better spending a bit more (or staying less time on the same budget) and get it “perfect”, than having to make various compromises on location, food, quality… And overall, this represented good value for money – an investment in serenity. Four days there were as relaxing as a full week in other places. Looking at other reviews, there is mention of an “old” looking place. Personally, this did not matter and quality was where I expected it: A nice entrance hall, comfortable and soft bed linen, efficient (and reasonably silent) aircon, comfortable armchairs and no reason to complain about a marble bathroom! The style is pleasant and well suited to the proportions of the building. The spa, in contrast, has a more contemporary look to it. This ranked as one of the best breaks we had in a very long time. I had given up on Tripadvisor but came back to it this time as our stay warranted a review. Most highly recommended.
All in all we really loved it!!! Great location A rich and "nice looking people" neighborhood Great breakfast and dinner at their amazing restaurant! A wonderful and friendly singer that we loved to hear every night when we had dinner every night in the restaurant! Great great great beach- almost private beach. The only minus is that the rooms, although well maintained, are old and feels old. But all in all we loved it and recommend it!
I have been staying at the Quinta do Lago Hotel for well over 20 years and still absolutely love it. The staff and lovely, very efficient, courteous, polite, some of them have been there for many years.
Stayed here for 10 days, had a great time, the staff are fantastic, especially those covering the poolside restaurant. They are all patient and tolerant with kids. I would have preferred a ground floor suite at the rear of the hotel but there was confusion between the hotel and us as to their description. There is no facility to tip when signing for food etc which is a sham. Will be back
Stayed here for seven days, everything about this hotel is top quality. A bit far out if you like walking into town, visiting shops etc. Private beach is about fifteen minutes walk Perfect for a restful holiday.
Second vist to this hotel and whilst it is mostly spotlessly clean and comfortable it is still in the 1970's in terms of the furniture and decor. Which is fine if you like that sort of thing. You can't fault the service, the quality of the food or the comfort and cleanliness of the rooms. The outside pool area has a little more to be desired where bins remain un emptied, the lounge chair tables by the pool and not cleaned and sugar, cup rings remain and the general state of the area is not really up to a five star standard. The sun beds are "reserved" by guests and are left empty all day something which isn't unique to this hotel but should be managed better. They have lovely gardens that lead to the river but there is nowhere to sit or even lounge away from the pool (Pine Cliffs is a perfect example of using their gardens perfectly). The food and drink is ludicrously expensive 9 eur for a beer and you won't get away with spending less than eur 50 for lunch minimum for two. We got a great deal with BA that included flights and saved us over £500 on just the hotel rack rate so in effect we saved £500 and got the flights "free" something the hotel weren't prepared to match so shop around before booking @ more than eur 350 a night a least !! It is in a great location (apart from the aircraft either landing or taking off at about 500 feet just out to sea, but it really does cater for and look after the over 60's so if that is you and you can afford it don't hesitate to visit. To demonstrate they are still in the '70's they still take credit card payments using paper slips !!
We always wonder why we go back to the same hotel. so far 24 times people think we are boring, let them! it is a very comfortable hotel, if you are looking for glitz this is not the place for you. to us it is like home from home and the only place we can really relax. the rooms are large and lovely big beds with beautiful white sheets, several pillows to choose from. lovely large balconies on the lower floors the higher floors are smaller. if you have a sea, lagoon facing room you have wonderful views across the Ria Formosa and to the sea. the balconies on these floors can get very hot in the height of summer. The garden views have also a lovely outlook over the hills. the staff are the best in the world and cannot do enough for you.you may want a car but taxis are ready available through the hotel. they also have a shuttle bus that will take you to the shops twice a day and to the entrance to the beach should you need it. we always like the walk. cannot fault the hotel food is superb and they will do anything for you. The bar has the most wonderful views and you can watch the sun set. it is my oasis. You cannot put a price on this view. Just the most beautiful and remains in our memory all year .You have to experience to fully appreciate it.
Quinta Do Lago was absolutely beautiful. The quality of the accommodations and meals were excellent, but what impressed us the most was the extraordinary staff. At every level, whether at reception, in the restaurants, the golf desk, and every other service, the staff were professional, personable, knowledgable and genuinely welcoming. Highly recommend and would return in a heartbeat.
