Lovely gardens but everything else rather tired. Many extras, safe, wifi tennis etc. Hotel says tennis courts are available but coach says otherwise! Food more like school dinners, ge there early or it will have runout or be luke warm!

Booked thus hotel through Fleetway after a bargain offer on Travel Zoo. Pre travel arrangements were good but arrival at Faro things were not all could have been Local operator on behAlf of Fleetway fell well short of being acceptable. We were herded into a snake line after being checked in and then at an olympic race across the bus park we eventuall boarded a coach. We were advised that the transfer would be about 2 hours with possible 4 drop pffs on the way After 4 hours we eventuall arrived at the hotel having made 8 drop offs at 01.30 the following morning. The hotel was closed and we had to ring the bell to get entry. The night receptionist was most apologetic and sadly reported that all bar facilities were closed but she did arrange a gin and tonic for us. I think on that transfer I saw more of the Algarve than I have seen ok the UK. I concur with most of the comments made in other reviews and add that unless the absence of overall managemt the two lads that run the restaurant. Pool bar and the hotel main main bar just will not cope in high season. The local area is lacking lustre apart from a few bars all offering burgers and pizzas with exception of “Boatys” , a brand new innovation offering tapas. I think I might look more closely at the bargains offered before trusting the small print

We recently came back from a short stay at this hotel. For the price we paid are expectations were not high. This hotel has a lot of potential and beautiful grounds however it really needs updating. The rooms and communal areas are dated and run down. The pool was not well kept and was dirty daily. We stayed in room 125 and there was a smell of damp all holiday which we discovered was down to mouldy curtains so much so that we had to purchase some airfresher Despite this staff were friendly and breakfast was good. The resort itself is beautiful and the hotel is close to the beach and facilities

We booked this hotel from a travel zoo link via Fleetway travel . The initial price seemed a good offer but then had to pay extra for a superior room also to book in extra bag on Ryanair . All in all transfers worked very well . The hotel was quiet on arrival the room was clean and overlooked the pool , the maid service was good and the linen and towels clean and prompt . The food was basic but sufficient , the choice very limited at dinner , fish, chicken and always a variation on pork ? The vegetables were unimaginative and almost always the same as indeed were the deserts ! Praire da Luz was very quiet and a bit dull . We had a couple of days out on the local buses which were excelent . We doubt the hotel food was antwhere near 4* and doubt it was 3* but it sufficed . Thankfully the weather was good and we enjoyed the holiday overall . Then again I suppose the hotel was just getting going for the new season beginning in May . At the right price it was an enjoyable holiday .

Arrived for a week holiday we arrived early hours so was pitch black helpful receptionist showed us to our room unsure of his name we woke up the following morning and WOW opened our patio doors straight on to the pool and stunning gardens rooms huge and cleaned everyday by lovely staff Isobel was our cleaning lady fresh towels and linen bathroom I personal thought was a bit dated for 4* hotel but no biggie I only used to wash and go toilet diddnt spend my holiday looking for fault we stayed b&b basis breakfast good you will not go hungry and big cups for coffee not doll size cups beach prai de luz stunning beach also Lagos the nearest town is worth a visit which you can get by bus at top of road stunning beaches also in Lagos boat trip to caves is well worth it Lagos is more busy that prai de luz for us as a couple we found prai de luz quite maybe the time of year the marina is also in Lagos we would definitely be returning loved it ❤️

We had a studio apartment on the first floor which was spacious, clean and quiet. The complex is nicely located with just a short walk to to beach. There are also easy walks in both directions along the coast. The breakfast is all you could wish for and the evening meal also offers a nice choice. The staff are friendly and helpful, although reception seems to lack the usual local information and need asking to obtain anything useful. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it for couples.

This hotel was classed as a 4* - no way - best I would give it is 2* The bedroom was adequate - decent size bathroom. It was cleaned every day and was clean - towels changed every day bedding was changed once on our week stay. The food was good to start with but it didn't vary and became samey. Th staff in the restaurant were run off their feet but did a good job. There was supposed to be a bar, it was there but no one to man it you had to go into the restaurant to get one of the overworked staff to get you a drink from the bar.It supposedly was open until 11pm but was closed by 10.15pm The staff in reception - one lady there (don't know her name) wears glasses and dark haired knew her stuff and was helpful. The other lady that was on duty there needs to go to charm school - very rude and abrupt. The guy that worked in there a complete waste of space - didn't know anything The potential that this hotel has is amazing but no one could see it

I took this hotel as part of an email offer, flying from my local airport. It was very good value but I am reminded, buyer beware! Hotel Luz Bay is not 4 star quality. Although it was very pretty with well maintained gardens and spacious rooms that are cleaned daily, everything else falls well short of 4 star. From the start, we arrived at 22:45 to be told there was no way of getting a drink or any food. The bar was shut and appeared to remain shut for the whole week. The rooms are OK, spacious and well serviced but the beds are uncomfortable with plastic protectors and there is no in-room facility for hot drinks and no way of boiling water in the shared kitchen on each floor, except by boiling a saucepan of water. The kitchen was not cleaned all the time we were there and there was no hot water or any washing up liquid to clean any dishes. We left ours in the sink where it stayed for 4 days and may still be there now. There is a fridge in the room which was welcome and air-con but during our stay the weather was not always warm and there appeared to be no way of heating the room. Whenever I set the A/C to heat it just went to standby. The quality of the finish and the standard of construction within the rooms is arguably typically southern European and again not in keeping with a 4 star facility. The pool area was OK but the Jacuzzi and Spa area was very scruffy and bordering on looking derelict. A good jet wash of the concrete around the pool and pool bar area wouldn't go amiss and getting the cleaners to remove the mess left by the lovely variety of birds in the garden would help as well (window sills and balconies). The food reminded me of food during my time in the military, wholesome and plenty of it but not good quality ingredients or very well presented and limited variety. Breakfast was by far the best meal and although breakfast came with a choice of hot and cold drinks, this was the only meal that did. All other times, drinks were charged, even water! The receptionist appeared to be more interested in looking good than offering a good service to the guests. I asked about the location of a nearby Supermarket and she could only suggest the Baptista, despite there being a small shop just round the corner (Antonios) and a large Spar just round the corner from the Baptista. This break was only ever meant to be a "fly and flop" holiday which means the hotel services needed to be better than they were. Quiet and relaxing? Mostly. 4 star? No. Put a kettle and two cups in each room, make sure the services you advertise are as advertised, apply a little more love to the property by way of maintenance and get the guy who worked the dining room to teach the other staff about customer care because he worked flat out, polite and gentle. Make him the manager, because the manager was not obvious. Praia de Luz is lovely but this is a review of the Luz Bay Hotel and therefore will summarise by say, Luz Bay is 3 star at best and needs to consider its guests experience more. 6/10. Could do better. I would not visit this hotel again.

Booked holiday as my 40th birthday present choosing this hotel specifically as for once I wanted to get spoiled by staying in 4* hotel..How wrong was I! I am from same industry therefore know well what I’m talking about! Sure it does look pretty, no doubt there but other then that there is absolutely nothing which deserves 4*! On arrival - don’t you dare to arrive even few min earlier then official check in at 2pm - was greeted my very unpleasant reception staff who obviously hate her job.. She did repeat to few points “this is not my problem”.. Instead of usual CC preauthorisation I was asked for deposit 250 Eur either in cash or to write down all my cc details on piece of paper! This I absolutely refused (fraud)! At the end were allowed to check in.. I did advise in advance it is my birthday and double room and if possible nice room would be great. We got most basic room with twin beds, speaks for itself how ignorant this hotel is..Room was ok, fairly spacious, cleaned..There is fridge which is great but no glasses to drink from therefore had to use from bathroom which are for toothbrush - these did not get replaced in 4 days at all. There is no bin in the room to put rubbish so left empty plastic bottles etc on the table, this did not get cleaned either. Towels were changed daily, sheets only once during 4 nights stay. Breakfast was ok, plenty if choices but not freshly cooked,delivered ready on the day but other company (we were told by staff). There was no decaf coffee available, which was very disappointing (no other choice when pregnant) and also no kettle in the room to make my own, luckily nearby cafe saved me! There is no free wifi, paid for 3 days 10 Eur. Hotel has free car park outside and is walking distance to the beach. If you know what to expect from 4* hotel definitely avoid this one as there is absolutely nothing which is anywhere near 4* hotel standard.

Pleasantly surprised after reading a few poor reviews. Lovely, large bedroom overlooking horseshoe complex. Room close to reception, front of Hotel and dining room. Probably one of the few balconies enjoying sun from sunrise to sunset! Room 101. Buffet breakfast was well presented and enjoyable. More than enough to keep you going until evening meal. We had b&b so are out every evening! Would definitely recommend this hotel!
