Returned again this January, Staff who wlways 'go the extra mile' Friendly and relaxing. Buffet breakfast superb. Quite and only 5 minutes walk from beach and local cafes.Back for our 3rd trip. Not diappointed !
My friend and I, plus our husbands stayed here for 6 nights on B&B basis. Breakfast was good, nice selection of full cooked breakfast, continental, cereals and fresh fruit. Our stay here was to attend the tennis boot camp. The tennis courts of which there are two are excellent, as was the tennis coaching sessions. I don't know whether these courts are available for use by non tennis camp clients. The rooms were an excellent size, although a bit frustrating that when leaving the room all electric goes off resulting in puddles on floor from a defrosting fridge. A small quiet and relaxing complex with a small pool bar with limited choice of drinks. The gardens are pretty but could do with some serious weeding of flowerbeds and the paving by the pool toilets need a good jet wash. The complex is ideally situated being a short stroll to the lovely promenade and the many restaurants and cafés.
We had a lovely 5 day stay and are already planning to stay again next year and for longer! Booked on Travel Republic a 'Basic' room, which was very nice and spacious with a small balcony and a useful fridge. Bathroom was clean with bath and shower, loads of hot water and toiletries provided for the first day. It was a short walk to the fabulous beach and not too far to walk to local supermarkets (Baptista and a good Spar) and the bus stop to Burgau in one direction or Lagos in the other direction. We had breakfast which was good and varied with a good choice of cold meats and cheese, fruit and yoghurt, breads and jam and a hot selection (Portuguese bacon, cocktail hot dog sausages, some kind of chorizo sausage, boiled eggs, fried eggs, scrambled eggs, mushrooms, beans, cheesy tomatoes). Coffee on tap (but sadly no decaff so we took our own instant down with us), hot and cold milk, hot chocolate, tea bags (including herbal) and some juices. Staff were helpful, they printed for us and organised taxis. The gardens were beautiful, as it was winter we didn't use the pool but the pool area looked lovely and there was a Turkish bath and sauna. We enjoyed the area and walked up to the obelisk for jaw-dropping views along the Algarve coast. From there we could have walked to Lagos but were short of time and so walked back down, a bit steep in parts for me but I am a wimp. We also did the cliff top walk to Burgau. If you are on a budget the local Spar had a cafe with a few meals for 5 Euro with a drink included, cafe next to Spar had Prato do Dia for 4 Euro and on the promenade another restaurant offered meals with drinks 9.50 and with drinks and dessert for 11.50. If you can get up to nearby Espiche (think around 2 miles) there is a restaurant called Adega do Papagaio where you can get all you can eat salad, rice, chips and you get a plate of 7 types of raw mixed meats and sausage to cook for yourself on a hot stone at the table. On a Saturday night this includes live local Fado singing and music. Quite an experience for 13 Euro! All in all we had a lovely time, thanks very much to management and staff for great stay, and please get some Decaf coffee in for next time we come.
We stayed here on an organized walking holiday with rooms booked by our tour operator. While the room was large and clean (smelled of bleach on arrival) the things that should make this a 4 star hotel were lacking. Internet was 3 Euros per device per day, the water heater in the room was turned to the minimum so we ran out of hot water half way through the 2nd shower, the outside lighting was inadequate and dangerous, what was labeled as orange juice at breakfast was some sort of who knows what watered down dry mix, coffee served from a carafe was weak and cold, only 3 towels provided, 2 bath and 1 hand, you get the idea. Staff was surly and seemed that they could not be bothered with simple questions or requests. If you read through about 3 pages of reviews here you will see these all complaints echoed by others, so our experience is not isolated. We told our walking company they need to to fine someplace else for their customers to stay. I would not recommend anyone stay at this hotel.
Fine compound with scattered apartments on 2 floors. Hotel includes 2 small pools in the centre and offered several services like sauna and massage. Unfortunately there was no WiFi (low season) in the apartments available. The size of the apartment was bigger than usually. Breakfast buffet was okay and service was all the time very friendly and helpful.
We were well pleased with this hotel, it was nice and peaceful just what we were looking for, The staff at the hotel were very friendly, enjoyed the food on offer but could have probably done with a bigger selection, rooms were cleaned daily & towels changed daily, if your looking for a really relaxing holiday then this is the hotel to come to
Hotel is very quiet, bar doesn't open until 5pm so if you are having a day by the pool there is nowhere to buy any refreshments. Food mediocre, ok if you like pork, fish or salad! Staff not very friendly. No lights in the walkways so quite dangerous if your on the second floor and coming out of the lift to your room as you could quite easily fall down the stairs which are situated right next to the lift. We also had ants running around in the room. Whilst we were there they had a problem with the electrics and we were without electric for about 4hrs they bashed a hole in the wall to get to the cables which were then left exposed. and did not open anywhere that you could have bought a coffee. The only English channel you get on the television is Sky News. Loved the area and it was only a 5min walk to the beach. If you chose to use this hotel make sure you have plenty of supplies of refreshments in the fridge in your room. I also found out on our last day about a communal kitchen where you have the use of a kettle and a microwave? The staff on reception don't tell you about it? Also for the two weeks we were there they were drilling and banging which once again there was no apology.
Very bad needs a lot of work leaks everywhere downstairs in our block , no outside lighting at night very dangerous. Food awful inedible and Luke warm coffee. No tea/ coffee in rooms but told use the kitchen . In the kitchen no kettle no cups no spoons no coffee no tea nothing . This hotel needs money spent on it and fast !!!!!
My partner and I are going to be staying at this hotel in December and I had forgotten to explain some health issues with travel company so emailed the hotel direct. I was surprised when a reply came back within an hour . If this is the service this hotel gives I know we shall enjoy our stay . Thanking you for putting my mind at ease . Sonia Dawson .. Watch this space as I shall be sharing our experience good or bad
Currently on a walking tour of Southern Portugal and this was a hotel that was organised for us by the tour company. When we arrived a bit early the room was not ready, which was fine so we went to the pool as they said they would tell us when the room was ready. They didn’t. Our bags were a bit late in arriving, again they told us they’d let us know; they didn’t. When we did get to the room in the afternoon and wanting a quiet lie down there was drilling and banging going on, again they did not tell us this on check in. When we went to ask about it, there was no apology and was told it would go on till about 6pm. The phone in the room was not working and we told them about it and it did not get fixed. The top of the place appears to leaking and in the morning when I went to the bathroom I nearly slipped over as over night the water had leaked into the room and was all over the floor outside the bathroom and in the sitting area. Fortunately we had not left clothes on the floor else they would have been soaked. These rooms are dangerous and not suitable for guests to stay in. All dealings with the staff in this hotel was unpleasant they are rude, unhelpful and arrogant. Do not stay here!
