Four Seasons Vilamoura

We recently stayed in four seasons and we thought it was brilliant. Staff very friendly and helpful. There were plenty of Sun beds, so no need to get up at 7am to try and get one. A lot of the apartments seem to be time share, as a lot of people knew each other, though they were very friendly to us. The apartment was more than I expected it was very spacious with everything you would need. The only down fall was the gym, it's not the gym in the hotel photo! It would appear to be a squash court converted into a gym, with very min equipment and no air con!! I nearly passed out a couple of times training. My wife and son had a great time in the beach pool every day. ! I would definitely be back except for the gym

Arrived at the hotel, only to find we had been double booked, however all was sorted by the lovely Bridget! Apartment was very spacious with lots of storage, complete with washing machine and tumble dryer. Every meal we had in the hotel was top class with first class service, wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone, and we cannot wait to return. Fabulous!

We recently spent another excellent holiday at Fourseasons Vilamoura. We have been members there for over 20 years and can certainly say we have always truly had a wonderful time there, from the beautifully appointed apartments, 4 swimming pools (1 inside with jacuzzi), evening entertainment with themed dining, great spa facilities (outdoor massage area which I love), terrific children's club, friendly and extremely helpful staff (I had great help from Brigitte this year when my sister had a severe nose bleed), great dining facilities plus takeaway to your apartment to the beautiful and well maintained gardens. All in all we good could not improve on Fourseasons Vilamoura and we are really so happy we chose to become members all those years ago Robert and Linda Little

We discovered the Four Seasons last year and this is the first time we've ever returned to a resort we've stayed at before, which says allot in itself. Location - next to the 'old town' (actually not 'old' but very pretty estate of holiday apartments with a few restaurants etc, 'Rendevouz' being our favourite). The 'road train' (I'm not sure what else to call it!) stops at Four Seasons frequently and is cheap and takes you to the Marina and beaches etc. So a car not essential but we've chosen to have one both visits so to go further afield to water parks etc. Overall we think location is great. Apartments - we've had a two bed both times for ourselves and our daughter. More space than we need really, the apartments are huge, clean and have everything you need. The appliances were top of range back in the day, a bit dated now but all in working order, AC worked fine and we had no issues with noise being quite remote from the pool area both stays. They really are lovely, bright, spacious apartments. Food - mixed comments here. The a la carte menu is good, not great. The theme nights (fixed price buffet based on foods from a different countries each time) are good value and really well done, particularly the Brazilian night. The takeaway food for rooms and pool etc not so good in our view, although the pizzas do seem to have improved a bit from last year! One gripe are the cocktails, which are awful. If you think you're going to get a nice fresh mojito or an espresso martini, think again. Facilities - the gym is basic. Even spending a hundred euros on bar clips and some attachments to the equipment that is already there would help allot. The pool and outside restaurant areas are excellent and a real assett to the hotel, three outdoor pools, with the two family pools visible from the restaurant (if you need an eye on kids). The reserving of sun beds is a bit of an issue as the hotel don't seem to enforce their policy on this, but not a major problem as quite plentiful. There is a large 'adult' pool and two more family orientated pools (as well as the indoor pool) so whatever your needs you can find the right spot to enjoy your time here. Service - the service culture at the hotel is off the chart. This is what sets this place apart. Most the same reception and serving staff were there from last year and I can't praise them enough. Just charming friendly people who can't do enough for you. This seems to permeate to the people that stay here, as the whole atmosphere is very friendly. Our 5 yr old little girl is an only child and made friends throughout the stay and had the time of her life. She'd have probably never left the hotel for our whole stay if she had the choice! In summary, our couple of minor criticisms intended as constructive, as overall this is a fabulous place to stay. We highly recommend and will certainly be returning.

We loved our stay but a few things that don't make it 5 stars (to be honest not many places are really worthy of a 5 star and this is close). Positives: All staff, rooms, pools, general atmosphere, cleaning, lounge Negatives: Slow wifi in rooms, food ok but nothing special and premium to marina, moved rooms and second room the air con just moved the air around! It was not smoking hot but equally not cool. I would recommend and stay again. People should not this seems to be a timeshare resort and so at times it was confusing what charges actually applied to a hotel booking which is what we meant; in the end no charges applied (cleaning, towels etc). There are a few too many warning signs around about what you can and cannot do which i presume are to set standards and to reflect the apartment nature rather than hotel and most of them are a bit pointless.

This review is being written from the perspective of someone and their family who ordinarily takes a private villa each year but this year we decided to try a resort based holiday and at the outset we are saying that we are impressed by the set up here at the Four Seasons Vilamoura. The Location The Four Seasons is quite well located and you can easily walk down to the Marina and the centre of Vilamoura in around 12 minutes. Although at this time of year when it is very hot it is wise to take it a little slower. You can get a public taxi for around 5 Euros (note that when you order a taxi through reception, unless you specifically ask for a public taxi, you get one of the cars from the car service they use and they are more expensive but offer a good service). The Property It is a reasonably large property but it is very very very clean and exceptionally well maintained. This is largely a timeshare/membership property so a lot of the people here were time share owners. We had a studio apartment for three of us which was very large and had absolutely everything you need to have a self-catering experience. There is also a washing machine/dryer which came in very useful. The air conditioning was also very effective. Whilst we were there we were able to see a two bed apartment which was absolutely massive so if I were to return I would be going for an apartment rather than a Studio. One downside to the apartments is that when you are have an apartment above and below you it can be very noisy due to the tiled floors and people walking around and moving furniture. But as this is largely a family resort with lots of children it is very quiet at night time. The other downside is that people can smoke on their balconies which means that the smell of smoke can drift into your apartments – I think it would be better if smoking was not allowed on the balconies. The other thing that gets me a bit is that you have to pay to have in room wifi - which in this day and age is just ridiculous - once you pay for it is it quite fast - there is however free internet in the lounge area. The Service Some of the best I have ever experienced. All of the staff, without exception, provide exceptionally high levels of customer service. Friendly, helpful and really proud of where they work. I cannot recommend the service highly enough. For us this made the experience really enjoyable. The food/drink offer Although we had a self-catering set up we decided to have breakfast once, lunch once and dinner twice. It is very expensive to eat here – you are paying the same prices as you would down at the Marina – may be a little more in fact. The breakfast was very expensive at 45 Euros for three of us (it was our first day and we had not been to the supermarket yet). Lunch was reasonable in terms of its quality and the evening meals were reasonable – not exceptional for the prices you were paying. So overall the food offer is ok. There is a nice bar with a good cocktail and wine offer – but again the prices are very expensive here. There are lots of places to try in the old town (next to the hotel - but very English) and in and around the Marina. The clientele This is very much a family resort and at this time of year it is very busy with lots of children. This was not an issue for us. Many of the people had been coming here for years as they were timeshare owners and the atmosphere was very friendly and respectful. There was no antisocial behaviour of yobbery and without exception everyone was enjoying themselves in a decent manner. So in summary if it’s a busy resort type hotel experience you want then you could not do better than the Four Seasons at Vilamoura. We would encourage you however to explore the area a bit to experience a few authentic experiences because everything here is set up for tourists and is targeted at the British holidaymaker in particular. We had a car for four days which enabled us to explore a bit – get to Tavira for some excellent and authentic Portuguese cuisine!

Excellent resort, accommodation first class. Staff very friendly and helpful. Particular thanks to Bridget (hopefully the correct name) behind Reception who looked after me very well when I required hospital treatment - I could not have been looked after better! I thoroughly recommend this resort - excellent dining facilities, superb swimming pools, both indoor and outdoor, particularly the beach pool - fantastic! First class resort for a superb holiday. Probably the best holiday apartments available. 2 beds are huge with the main living area approx 600 sq ft and the overall is about 1200 sq ft. 4 pools; 1 indoor, 1 fun, 1 paddling and one adult. Good restaurant & bar. Lovely spa for men & women with great masseuses. Ideal for families & couples alike.

I have to say this was the best stay in any hotel. We loved the atmosphere and interior of the hotel. Staff was extremely nice specially the receptionist. Rooms were very clean especially the toilets. Just few minutes walk from main marina.. Will highly recommend..

We visited this hotel end of July. We booked months before our visit and paid a lot of money. We were a family of 3. Our daughter is 8. Also our friends travelled there at the same time so there was a group of us. I had been in contact with Bridget (Irish name.... she will know who we are when she reads this )!!!!! She is so so friendly. Unfortunately we booked a studio.... these rooms are terrible... no natural light and pull out couch is on floor. No where to sit out and enjoy an evening drink...dreadful... they should be used as storage areas instead of charging for them. The hotel was booked out so we could not be moved. Our friends got lovely spacious rooms. I really wanted to check out dispite just handing over 2400 for the worst room ever. I decided to give the place a chance and I am glad I did. We literally used room to sleep and shower. The staff are what make this place. Rui is a complete asset to this place. Amazing guy. We found it quite unfair waiters had to wear black trousers and shirts in extremely hot weather, maybe management could reassess and consider cooler clothes for them as not fair in hot weather running around outside with sun beaming down.... The security is fantastic... very reassuring having a little one running around the grounds. Kids club fantastic........ especially Nadine.. management really need to reassess the evening entertainment.....poor. We will definitely return due to the friendly, welcoming, relaxed atmosphere here but we shall book a different room. !!! See you all next year The Garvin's
