It was very dated tv did not work air con did not work no plug for the bath you need to hold the shower in your hand. In 9 days the towels were changed twice the sheets were never changed the bathroom was never cleaned the room was swept once. The lift kept breaking down and the stairs didn't have lights. It was very central definitely not suitable for children. Give it a wide birth. Very noisy.
Well.....after reading some of the reviews on here we all thought we were off to something along the lines of the Portuguese version of Fawlty Towers. I mean, at £200 for 3 nights including flights and transfers and right on Bar Street you can't be expecting much, let's be honest. On arrival on Thursday the Receptionist was very helpful with a fantastic Cheerful Way smile. we were sent off to our rooms and really we couldn't complain at all. A bit dated, a spot light not working and the lift breaking down but it was clean with everything you'd expect for that price. Pleasantly surprised. Don't be put off this hotel, I'd definitely return, it's alright for the price. Oh, just a quick mention for the rockery at the bottom of the stairs to Reception....very impressive!!
Dirty, smelly, damp, noisy, what a dump. Walked in the room greeted by a strong smell of must complained at reception and was told to open the balcony door to ease the smell. Sheets changed once in a six night stay were replaced with clean damp ones, the towels were changed every two days if you can call them towels ive thrown better away, the room was not moped out during our stay the only thing that i noticed was that the bins were emptied and the bathroom was given i minimum clean. The shower curtain had mold growing on it and the grouting was also dirty On the plus side it was very cheap, and the mattress was clean. This is a hotel for stag and hens only if you are not one of these groups please choose another hotel.
Absolutely disgraceful left with bugs on my toilet seat and dog poo on the beds!! Someone had used the shower and must of shaved their pubes! So was left with a clogged up sink and was a massive log left in the toilet that wouldn't flush for 5 days!
So we returned on another girls 4 nighter. Although, the lift was out of order a lot and we could either walk 8 floors or they let us use the service lift to the 5th, where you then you walk through a corridor and then take another lift to the 8th. The tiles in the bathroom are quite awful, there are a few sockets and lights not fastened in properly, the floor never got swept in 4 days ! Whilst I agree with all the negative reviews & none of us would dream of ever booking this as a family holiday, the base is great & beds clean & at £20ish a night, then you get what you pay for....would we return, err probably not, will try the Baltum next time, similar price, looks cleaner (no pool though)
Went on a hen do and we were unfortunately booked into this hotel! On arrival we were told that because we were a group (12 of us) they wanted 100 euros per person deposit in case we got 'wasted' and 'trashed' the room (their exact words!) Bearing in mind we had only gone for 2 nights and hadn't been pre informed about any deposit we didn't have 100 euros spare and weren't prepared to pay this amount. Asked to speak to the manager to no avail! After a lot of heated discussion they eventually agreed to 50euros per person that we could reserve on a credit card, to then change it to 'no it had to be cash only'! When the deposits were finally reluctantly paid we were then told our rooms weren't even ready. It was 3pm by this time and we had been informed we could check in from 2pm. When we complained about this we were told. 'we have a lot of rooms to clean, we can't just magic a room up like that' After finally getting into our rooms, one room stank of cigarettes, the A/C unit in another was supported by a glass ashtray, another room had a bedside light that wouldn't switch off and a tap that had a constant leak. If they thought a hen party of 12 could cause 100 euros of damage to these disgusting, outdated, nasty rooms i'm gobsmacked! They should be giving guests 100 euros to stay in the damn things. Staff are unhelpful and rude. We booked through expedia - when we rang to complain about the deposit we were expected to pay, they too stated this was the case and it was on our travel information! It is NO WHERE stated on any of our e-mails or travel documents. Do NOT book through expedia or book to stay at this hotel. Its the pits!
I booked a small break for 4 nights On arrival they gave me a room and there was half of a bottle of water which haven't been cleared and one of the bed has been slept in I've been offered another room but the curtain was broken so I stayed in my room and slept in the other bed The worst of all is the noise !!! Impossible to sleep till 4.30 in the morning it's like being in a nightclub as the hotel is in the middle of pubs and clubs so if you want a quiet holiday, not the place to be The bin haven't been empty the towels not changed and the room not cleaned till my last day In fairness it was quite cheap so I wasn't bothered by the towel change.... But the noise ....I haven't slept for 4 nights... Finally I would say that that hotel is perfect for stag parties but not for a quiet break which is a shame as the beach is only 5 minutes away
Will start from the beginning. On our arrival we had to wait for 3 hours for check in. Then after we've seen the room ,we went back to the reception, because the room that we booked and was shown on their website doesn't match one we've received.. Receptionist replied "Of course on the website we have different pictures", so they know ,that they're screwing people around ..and refused to change it.(Curtains were also dirty, looked like someone washed the floor with them) The room (actually only toilet) was cleaned only once during our stay and towels was changed twice.. Had to ask even toilet paper on reception.. and 2nd time they didn't have any. On the 3rd day decided to visit swimming pool, after I found the glass and hair in it ,we never came back. Also it's very noisy, heard screaming in corridors 3 times in the middle of the night during our stay And finally .. on our 7th day we have to check out at 11am!!! Our plane is only at 23pm. So we paid for 7 days and stayed only 5.5 . Receptionists don't care about it and keep telling that room needs to be vacated for other visitors... Terrible please and shame to the hotel owner.
When we arrived there were 2 queues - we joined the arrivals queue (third in line); the other queue was for complaints (there were 4 in that one). The complaints seemed to centre on room photo misrepresentation, cleanliness, maintenance, ants, rust & lack of information regarding departure arrangements. Whilst in the arrivals queue I asked some of the complainers to provide details as I am aware that once folk start to complain they're tempted to add everything they can imagine to build the complaint up. One showed me the room photo on his mobile as he said it looked nothing like his room & wanted to swop. One had rusty bathroom fittings that were so old they'd started to flake into sharp bits & wanted another room. One was leaving early the next day & the departure notice board only contained details that were 2 days old. We were pretty apprehensive at this stage but booked in & received the room key & paid for the room safe & headed for the lift. By then the man who'd shown me the room photo was at the front being advised by reception that the photo was only an example of a room & he could not swop. Be aware that this is, at best a 1* plus hotel - so don't expect daily linen changes or rooms cleaned, a fridge, extra pillows, adjustable shower heads, sockets at waist height, information on facilities, all lights to work. You may need to do some local repairs/maintenance yourself (things like rejoining bathroom plugs to chains, cleaning safety bath mat, ensuring the toilet flush works). Keep a watch 24 hours before departing on the notice board for details & ring the number provided to elicit information. I'm guessing that Jet2holidays may not include California hotel in their 2019 brochure. For a 1* plus hotel the breakfast was good. We were fairly lucky with the room we were given, OK it needed maintenance & many floor tiles were cracked or worn through & the basin hot water was not functioning but once we'd accepted that it was a 1* we were able to laugh & put it down to experience.
I booked this hotel with an additional room for a friend, Check in was a night mare! the first room I was given was being refurbished only things in the room were paint cans and dust sheets, Second room I was given was occupied when I opened the door a guy was in the bed! 3rd room I was given was not the deluxe room I ordered it was dirty, damp and the A/C did not work as it was late we went out had a beer and checked the web for an alternative, which we found so went to the room slept on top of the bed there was no way I was getting in it, checked out the next morning. the hotel refuse to answer my mails and you cant talk with the management, others in our party did not even get a room and those that did relocated additionally watch out for the drunks walking the corridors late at night shouting and causing trouble
