The fact we went back this and year, and are glad we did, says it all I suppose. A great family orientated complex with great staff and good facilities. Plenty of sunbeds to go round when we were there in middle of august. A ten minute stroll from the old town and it's huge number of restaurants. We didn't have breakfast or dinner at the restaurant so can't comment on that. There are a couple of small basic bars near by that are a great deal cheaper for a beer - down to the spar shop and turn to the right, about a 100 yards or so. By the way that spar shop has everything at a decent price. Back to the accommodation best rooms are 102, 202, 302 and 402 - they are spacious with very generous balcony and 2 bathrooms. Probably won't be given to a couple. We had 202 last year for the 3 of us and were pleased to get 402 this on request at time of booking. And the Aircon was efficient - thankfully!
We stayed here for 10 days at the end of July. The hotel is clean and has all the facilities required. There isn't an iron in the room but there is a room downstairs near the towels room you can use. Two big pools (including one for kids) which were clean. Plenty of beds around the pool although get up early to reserve eg before 8am. We had a one bed apartment with a sofa bed. As a corner room overlooking the pool we had ample space inside and out. The kitchenette was great for a quick breakfast in the morning with two fussy young eaters. The local Spar stocked everything needed and not expensive. Hotel is ideal for those after a quiet break or for families - not one for a lads holiday or stag/hen. Local tips: Al Forno (near local Spar) serves rustic pizzas at a very reasonable price and does take away. In the old town we ate at The Garden (book in advance), Don Toro (steak), El Charo and Mamma Mia (pizza) - all very reasonable and great fresh food. Cafe Mar (by beach) also very good and nearby beaches were beautiful and quiet - lots of caverns rock pools to explore. Hotel Carvi has a roof top restaurant which serves fresh fish and has a great view of the sea. Will definitely return to this area and hotel.
Had a fantastic 10 days in Aqualuz Appartments. Apartment was spotless & household staff were super & so friendly. They cleaned apartment at different times depending on what our agenda was with trips & afternoon naps. The kids club..well what can I say other than the staff were amazing. Our little girl had so much fun every time she was there & their evening entertainment was super with all staff having fantastic interaction with all the kids. Reception staff were very helpful at every interaction. Will hopefully be back to stay with you again. Thanks for making our holiday great.
Week long stay in the premium one bed apartment with 2 adults and 1 child. Nice apartment over 2 floors lounge/kitchen/toilet downstairs with pullout bed for daughter and balcony overlooking the pool. Upstairs a double bed with ensuite and another balcony. Booked through travelrepublic and looking at the non premium room pictures it was worth the little bit extra for the premium room. Pool was not bad, but to get a sun lounger near it - be up before 7.45 to place your towel! Bar inside hotel was not open during week long stay. Outside bar was fine, limited food options which were basic but ok. To eat it was better to walk into Lagos which was around 10 mins walk - lots of nice places to eat, and nic-nac shops to browse on the cobbled streets. The Marina is also not too far from the centre. There is a crazy golf which was nice for the family on the way to the centre. A Spar and another local supermarket and ATM very nearby also. Only real disappointment was that we had some money stolen from the room by the cleaners on our second day. We left some money in a glasses case slightly poking out and thought we could trust the cleaners in our room while we were downstairs, only to find it gone when they left. As we knew it was there as only seen it 15 mins earlier, we complained to reception and were made to feel like we were the guilty parties. They called the police in, who also made us feel like they weren't interested as the cleaners said they didn't do it (unsurprisingly). We should have kept any valuables in the rooms safe - which we did for the rest of the holiday - lesson learned.
We visited this hotel for 9 nights start of Aug we booked two apartments 4 adults 1 -15 year old and a 2 year old lovely apartments hotel spotless that's the good points bad points no kiddies pool for a 2 year old ,no iron in the room , main bar closes at 11 every night and very expensive bar staff poor never really interacted with customers in all an ok hotel needs to come up with more ideas
The rooms are very clean, beds and towels changed every day. Excellent shower! The only downside is the restaurant and bar area, OK in the day but the lighting was far too bright in the evening and wasn't really inviting to sit down and have a drink. There is also an upper deck area with seating which again could have been really nice if they put a few side tables and candles on it. Otherwise a really good hotel.
We found this hotel after deciding we wanted to go to Lagos, and we checked all hotels. Practically this was the only one not only offering all we wanted but seemingly fulfilling all our farthest wishes. And it in fact did deliver all we expected: a great location practically 3 minutes from old town (just around the corner, if you dont listen to what they say at reception, but turn right after stepping out of hotel, follow the building down the street, and before the parking house find the steps and the underground passage), from DOna Ana beach (10 minutes on foot), supermarkets (also 2 minutes to a big Spar if as said above you dont listen to the receptionists but find the underground passage), beautiful garden with big pools, and big, stylish comfortable rooms The staff at the reception and the pool was also friendly and helpful. The only downside was NOISE. ANd the worst part is that it was affordable noise. One part of it cam from other guests, which is always beyond my understanding why people have to scream and shout when they return at 3am and why parents allow their kids to scream and run up and down the corridor at 7am. But the worst was the cleaning personnel, starting early and cleaning each part of the corridor for hours, shouting to each other, banging their carts, and generating extreme noise whatever they were doing. We asked them nicely a couple of times and they gave up. In addition, to hotel has great acoustics so if people are walking up and down in the hotel above, you will feel someone sledgehammering above you. If you add up all these possible sources of noise you figure that you will never have a chane to sleep undisturbed hours. It is really a pity, as otherwise, as I said the hotel is simply perfect for a great holiday in Lagos. I hope some of the noise factors can be helped.
This is a clean hotel in a great location. The staff are friendly, with the reception staff speaking very good English and I heard them also speaking German to other guests. The rooms are well equipped with air con, kitchen storage space. There is also a microwave and coffee machine provided. All rooms are cleaned daily, though on many occasions the cleaners didn't come round until 5pm when we were getting changed to go out for the evening. I had to turn them away twice as my daughter was having a late afternoon nap. This was annoying. All of the rooms over looked the swimming pools. The balcony is spacious enough but has the air con on there which can get noisy. Sitting on the balcony you can enjoy watching the sun bed pantomime! Early morning we watched other guests getting up early to lay out towels on sun beds. Many of these sun beds often lay draped in towels without owners until around 10 or 11am. This is no fault of the hotel but it would be nice to see the hotel take some action to be fair to other guests. I even witnessed one guest leave 4 towels out at 11:30pm the previous night! Saying all this I didn't actually sit around the pool. The coast line has stunning beaches nearby. The beaches can be accessed by a 15-20 minute walk from the hotel. I can't recommend trying out the nearby beaches enough. The old town too is around a 15 minute walk. It's not very strenuous but if you are unsteady on your feet it may be worth looking into taxis. The hotel reception is happy to order these for you. We also sorted some boat trips and water park trips through the reception which made things a little easier for us. The hotel bar is fully stocked but was never busy. The bar closed at 11pm on the dot so one to keep in mind in case you wanted to come back for a couple of extra drinks. All in all it is a nice hotel, in a good location. All local places of note including local Spar are only a short walk.
We rented a 2 bed apartment for 4 adults.... it was listed as a 'premium apartment' on Booking.com. When we arrived it was not what we expected: it was a disappointing, dark apartment and, in my opinion, was over-priced for 1 week at 2400 euros! We expected a pool view and balcony - as illustrated on the website - but found two small, dusty, triangular areas outside of the bedroom and lounge that were not big enough to hold furniture (one housed the air con unit), facing a tall, dilapidated building that was in the process of being renovated, and which blocked out light. The pictures on the website show lovely balconies overlooking the pool area, and because we were paying over £2k, we expected a pleasant outlook and outside dining space. We complained about this and we were told that there are only 6 of these 'premium' apartments on the complex, and they'd been added on to the property two years previously; only 3 apartments had pool views but all of them were the same price! We were told that we should have specified pool views at the time of booking, but since availability is limited, it could not be guaranteed. In this respect, the website images are misleading and this factor should be made clear, in my opinion. Another small irritation: on arrival we didn't even have a kettle! More upsetting was faulty air con in the bedroom. On the second night it leaked condensate onto the bed, such that we had to move the bed a catch the water in a bucket. It was supposedly fixed during the day, but the 'fix' didn't work; it leaked again on the next night, and proceeded to leak on three more occasions, before the maintenance team finally repaired it, leaving holes in the wall, on the penultimate day of our holiday. All in all, it was a very disappointing accommodation experience. On a more positive note, the complex itself is clean and well laid out, with good facilities, and some of the reception staff were very helpful. We had a meeting with the reception manager and did get a 25% discount, but the apartment still cost us £1700. Lagos is a charming town with a great mix of lively bars and restaurants, with quiet areas if preferred. The beaches are beautiful, and the local people generally are very welcoming. Overall the holiday cost us more than expected because we ate out all the time; the apartment simply wasn't a pleasant place in which to spend time, and certainly didn't feel like it was a nice space for dining. In summary, we will return to the Algarve, but we'll be more careful about our booking next time!
Very good apartments. Cleaned very day. Pool towels supplied and can be changed every day. Pools were spotless Only negative were the cream coloured sunbeds. A lot of them were torn and damaged and need replacing. The yellow sunbeds which were all snapped up before eight o'clock were in good condition.
