Really disappointed. The photos are very misleading. It's very tired looking with lots of buckets placed around to catch the leaks from the rain. The staff were uninterested, not welcoming and not very friendly. We booked self catering with a balcony/veranda and got neither. We were offered another option after 4 days which was worse so we declined. Room smelt of either damp or cigarette smoke. Pool was not usable as it was half empty. No electric kettle or clothes airer. It was noisy due to nearby building work and bad location of D1 studio. There were no facilities to shower on our last day, having spent it on the beach and checked out at 11am. (although I see this has been raised before and they were taking this on board.) There was nowhere secure to leave our luggage, just an unlocked store cupboard. Reading some of the reviews on here it seems to be of a different Soldoiro to the one I stayed in! Location is good however, lovely beach. If we come back it will be to a different hotel.
This is a nice hotel for the money. It is close to anything you want. 30 minute walk to the old town and 5 minute walk to the strip. The beach is very close. They are skimpy with the towels and you need to bring your own tea towel and wall cloth for the dishes.
This is the third time we have stayed at Soldoiro and again thoroughly enjoyed our 8 night stay. This apartment complex and the local area has a very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. The reception staff are kind, friendly and extremely helpful. Ideally situated just 2 mins. walk down the road to the beach and only a short walk from a great selection of nice bars and restaurants. The 1 bed apartments are very spacious and nicely decorated in a traditional Portuguese style, but still include all modern amenities. The satellite T.V. includes many English (and other) channels, the free wi-fi is excellent, there is a brand new fitted kitchen (including toaster and kettle) and the brand new bathroom has a great walk-in shower. The balcony which looks over the roof tops to the sea, has sunshine all day. These really are lovely apartments and extremely good value for money. We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Next time we visit Praia da Oura, we will definitely being staying at Soldoiro.
We came here twice before, and even though they renovated, we are more than disappointed this time. We were greeted by a freshly renovated room, but the bathroom looks like the construction workers just left, floor not cleaned, everything smells like fresh paint. There are several things which def were included in our booking, but are not here (toaster, a cleaning rack for clothes, etc.. there is only VERY little kitchen equipment-no pan, no sharp knife). It looks like they were only half finished before they rented it out. After our complaining, they got us the forgotten toaster and the cleaning lady tried to clean the bathroom. We feel really sorry and bad because of our complains. Before renovation it was quite worn out here, but at least we could work with the things they got here. Good thing: they are willing to help and provide things
Stayed here last year, bit dated but we still had a great view and it was o.k.they were refurbishing, was shown what they were doing, new kitchens and showers so came back this year. When we first arrived I think we were given a studio when we had booked an apartment. Went to reception where we found staff very helpful and were put into an apartment next day. Lovely apartment with a great view. Found facilities much better than last year due to refurbishment. Really enjoyed our stay, sitting on balcony in full sun for 5 out of 7 days helped. Lovely Beach 3 min walk down the hill, close to restaurants, bars and supermarkets. Have stayed in 4 other places nearby this has been the best and all about the same price.
My partner and I stayed in studio apartment 40 for 10 days between the 6th-16th January 2018. During our stay we were deeply unsatisfied with many things at the hotel. We have stayed at literally hundreds budget hotels and hostels and don't think we are fussy at all but a few things just were not exceptable. First of all I would like to say most of the reception staff were very friendly and accomidating, particularly the night we checked in when we were delayed, but some were incredibly incompetent. Our main issue was with the room leaking. This happened 3 times during our stay! Everytime it rained water poored down the chimney, and also flooded under the door. Until the room was flooded. The first time this happened my passport was damaged and we assumed it was a one off from very heavy rain, but we were wrong. 2 light showers on other days also flooded our room. Soaking my clothes, suitcase and handbag. This was our main issue, and most small problems we overlooked as we know small things cannot be helped. But the flooding was not one of those issues. I informed a receptionist of this during our stay - he did not say anything or seem to care at all. Building work starting very early multiple days, noisy neighbours and a lack of tea towel or anything to wash up with were over looked. Not being informed there were 2 single beds not a double as it said online were all issues we overlooked but the flooding we cannot overlook. Our complaint was ignored. I have subsequently sent 4 emails, a facebook message to their page and a facebook review but with no response. So we are now taking our complaint through love holidays who we booked with. I would avoid the hotel as if anything goes wrong they do not care enough to rectify it, nor will they refund you.
We booked with Thomas Cook. The room was spacious with 2 single beds. We stayed in room 31 with a bit of ocean view. No iron and iron board in the room. The reception lady was kind of rude most of the time. Poor check in information, our check out time was 12 in the noon and reception tried to kick us out at 11 o clock. No stamps in the reception. No hello and goodbye. The room is noisy and was not enough toilet paper.
Very clean room and bathroom! Friendly staff! Situated in a great location, beautyful view from the room! In the kitchen you got everything you may need... Very confy bed as well 😁 They also got bar and room service wich is great! I will come back!
We were going to Portugal to see if this could be a place for us to retire. During this trip we stayed at the Apartamentos Soldoiro. We did not know what to expect of the hotel prior to arriving; we were pleasantly surprised. The location was wonderful for the proximity to the beach, and we were far enough away from the bars and holiday trappings for the hotel to be restful. I personally needed to see the sun. I do truly love my life in North Yorkshire, but the winter months can be hard to deal with. Growing up in Texas, I am a solar baby, so I do need a solar top-up. Also this trip would give us a chance to see if a life in Portugal is a viable location for a second retirement home. Our studio apartment was small, but clean and serviceable. The biggest annoyance with the room was having to pullout and put away the bed each day for sitting space. If we book this hotel again, we would definitely go with the one bedroom option rather than the studio. Also, the lack of cleaning supplies was also an annoyance, sine the room is not cleaned daily it is up the tenant to keep it tidy, so I would expect some cleaning supplies. We did purchase our own cleaning items and then just got on with our visit. The proximity of the beach was a plus for this visit but I could see where it could become a problem in summer months. During the winter months the beaches are more subdued. In the summer I could see where the noise level could rise and make this location a bit less than ideal for my type of holiday. We will be visiting Albufeira again, and passably stay here at the Apartamentos Soldoiro during that visit. The cost of flights and accommodation was inexpensive enough that the Algarve, may turn out to be a place that we frequent often for the winter sun. Our visit next year may be for a more extended period of time on the same beach
We had 2 sea view rooms. A lot of stairs to climb so ok for us. Rooms were kept clean all week. Staff friendly (however security guard can be mouthy if your not completely silent coming home)! Threatened to phone police - for talking!! The hotel is on a steep hill, again ok for us but a few people did slip so just be careful. Pool was relaxed. Snacks & drinks available at pool bar. Rooms good enough size. Here, you get what you pay for. We've all actually booked to come back here in April. Clean, tidy, great location. Very close to beach & nightlife. Just not good if you struggle with steep hills & stairs. Other than that, I would recommend this place.
