Days Inn Elizabeth City

This hotel was nice and inexpensive for us while traveling on a budget. The decor and design of the rooms is a bit dated. The rooms could be spruced up with some fresh paint. Bathroom could have been a bit cleaner. Lighting is dim. Staff were friendly and helpful. A good place to sleep while in transit.

The area is a bit sketchy. Late at night, Some woman knocked at the door because she claimed a relative used to live there. She was looking for a ride to somewhere.....then asked for money. I gave her $5 just to leave and stop stinking me up with her cigarette. But that is no fault of the motel.....I don't know how you can expect the desk clerk or management to police the area to keep theses people away and still run the counter.

hotel easy to find. room clean, shower nice. convenient location, quiet

This hotel wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. After reading the reviews of others, I was worried about my stay here. Yes, it's old and needs updates, but it wasn't as bad as the reviewers made it out to be. My family and I stayed here and saved hundreds of dollars by doing so. It's not a 4/5 star hotel, it's a 2 star and worth it if you ask me.

Not the greatest experience we requested a nonsmoking room but got smoking smelled terrible will never stay there again.

When motoring on personal travel, I have learned to trust Days Inn and a handful of other hotel chains when my personal favorite, a Marriott property, is not available. Forced to rescue my son and some of his sons from the Outer Banks when their ride fell through (for very legitimate reasons), I was happy to find a Days Inn on short notice in nearby Elizabeth City, about 63 miles from OBX. It was about 60% less than the Holiday Inn Express next door. It was not the kind of Days Inn I usually stay at -- it was pretty clean, but it was clearly a much older "motor hotel" with poor amenities, noisy conditions, and a less than helpful front desk staff. There were no amenities in the bathroom. The breakfast the next morning was, well, lacked a functioning juice machine and absolutely no dairy, protein or fruit. The pillows were old and very lumpy. The furniture was akin to somethign you'd find in a dorm rom. . . at the end of a school year. This is not your typical Days Inn. Don't stay here.

The place is in need of updating. I just needed a place to sleep for the night, and this was fine for that. If you plane on staying in this town for more than one night, find a differnt place to stay. The breakfast thay had was terrible(food seemed stale) but there is a 7-11 right next door, so that worked for me. The staff was nice and friendly, but the rest not so good.

Arrived 3 am, left 11 am...good overnight stay, ok continental breakfast, freindly staff, clean room

It was ok - liked the microwave and refrigerator.

Would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Few of the outlets worked, bathroom fan sounded like a banshee from hell, about as dirty a place as I have EVER seen. Truly THE PITS and no way out of the God-forsaken place unless you've rented a car. Would sooner have multiple RPG's hit this place than stay there again. Totally worthless and grungy.

it was just okay

We reached there after 5:00 PM. Just checked in and headed to the neach. I asked the attendent about any map or direction to the Beach. We were given worng direction. Anyway, we got back and went out again for dinner. At 10:00 Pm we realized that the towels and bedshhet were used but we were so tired after a day long drive and the Beach activity, we just decided to used our towels and cloths to spend that night. I am surprised that [...] has such a poor quality facility.

Friendly staff & service, nice breakfast. Average for hotels I've stayed at. Took a while to hook up to the internet, but once hooked up it worked well.

Knowing the hotel was not a 5 or even 3 star, I didn't expect to enter a room that stunk from stale smoke. The bed visibly sagged. The mini fridge was rusting and the curtains were drooping at the window. We walked in to use the bathroom before going to find our route to the events planned for the afternoon. We did not go back. It was in a nice location.

We booked two non-smoking rooms but were assigned smoking rooms by Orbitz. We were told that this could only be changed through Orbitz which we were not in a position to do while attempting to check in. The nice lady at the front desk did switch one room to no smoking since a child was staying in that room. We had two rooms. Both were very nosy. We heard foot steps above us all night long.

the manager on duty told my wife if we weren't out by 11AM we would have to pay an extra day, even after explaining we hadn't gotten in until 2AM. She did call the owner who allowed us an extra half hour to ge t ready for a job interview.
