Hallmark Hotel Aberdeen Airport3.0 out of 5.0

Stayed here pre-holiday and...never again! Whilst I appreciate that a lot of traffic here is oil- related, this hotel appears to have lost the idea regarding holidaymakers. On arrival we followed a queue of oil workers checking in - all done in a kind of resigned silence! We handed in our booking form to a stony faced receptionist, who looked blankly at us. Eventually I explained we'd booked a room and two weeks car parking, eventually sorted out - we were handed a key and pointed to the exit door "you're over there..." An annexe next to the main block. Car parking I was advised was " leave it there...take your keys with you". The room was fine! Spacious and comfortable...we went for a meal...more confusion...as three staff crowded around a computerised till...four of us stood waiting to order....eventually we got our meal, which was OK but we watched chaos as it got busier with the waitress reduced to shouting "Who ordered curry??" to a room full of hungry blokes..... Transfers to the airport are "included" in the advertised deal...but READ THE SMALL PRINT.....as we were told the driver is supposed to drop you off some 300 yards from the airport...thankfully the driver took pity, as it was pouring rain....On return two weeks later, Friday at 3 pm - we phoned, to be advised by a couldn't care less receptionist, "We don't do transfers at THE WEEKEND" In fact, they stop at 11am on the Friday......so if you're going on holiday, give this relic a miss...if you're a bored, miserable offshore worker its ideal
Would have no hesitation in using Hallmark again. Excellent staff, good food and transfers to and from Airport were excellent and our car was parked there for the ten day duration of our holiday at a reasonable price.
From reading the other reviews I am guessing I had and old bad room (No. 728) at the back of the complex. I will start with the bad; The room smelt damp, the bathroom also smelled really bad and the toilet was dirty. There was some sort of chewing gum embedded into the carpet in the corner of the room. The door was covered in dirt, the window and window sill was filthy. One of the pillow cases was stained (seemed to be washed but has a dirty big stain on it and brown stains on the pillow). The red throw over the bed was dirty and last but not least no hot water in the evening or in the morning . I did bring it the attention of the staff who were very nice, however there were no free rooms to move to on the night. The hotel being full would also answer the problem to the ridiculously busy car park. The car ended up being parked in a field across the road. The plus side of the hotel: The staff were friendly and the breakfast was ok. The TV and WIFI were also good. Reception area seems to be a deal better then the rooms. Not sure I would book here again. It is a typical Aberdeen hotel that seems to have reeked the benefits of the oil industry but never invested in the hotel.
I visit this hotel fairly regularly for day business meetings so while booked to attend weekend event decided to stay. The bed had a gash in the side of the mattress with a 1cm piece of metal sticking out the side right at the point where you sit on the edge of the bed to get in or out. Once laid in the bed three could of springs were digging into my back. Very uncomfortable. Luckily as I was on my own I could sleep on the other side of the bed. When I reported it the receptionist said they would look at it once I'd left. Hallmark then sent me a survey and when I said I was unhappy I got a "thanks for completing survey" response but no chance to say why. The meeting rooms and restaurant bar area are fine but the rooms are sadly dated and the beds dangerous.
I booked four twin rooms, bed and breakfast, for myself and friends. We all agreed rooms were lovely, good size and clean. Beds were very comfortable. Really enjoyed the breakfast. Cooked food didn't appear to be made in huge quantities as staff were constantly filling up so all items fresh, hot and very tasty. Some of us had an evening meal and said how good it had been. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. VeryAll agreed best hotel stayed in for sometime.
I stay quite a lot at this hotel, just for the convenience of where it is Beds are not comfortable and feel worn out bathrooms are dated I guess this is what happens when its oil workers that stay there !!! we get the worst types of accommodation for the most money
I have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions and although the hotel could really do with refurbishment it offers good size rooms with huge beds but a downside would be the shower is over the bath type
Service in reception was good and speedy The room was ok on the beds but the shower was not working Internet was free Shuttle service to AirPort was good Food and service in restaurent was good Price was fair
Upon entering the Hotel very late in the evening after a long travel day. I was meet by a receptionist who really looked and spoke like she absolutely hated what se was doing… No joy or welcoming attitude at all… Well i got my room, and what a disappointment. The whole hotel from the outside, could need a heavy cleanup and refurbishment. When entering the room, the radiators were turned all the way up? - Why? - I’m not sure. But it defiantly didn’t help on the very old and enclosed smell in the room. Well, another hour went past venting the room. In the mean time, i could listen to all the neighbours having a party outside, and the smell of smoke entering the room kind of made the whole situation worse. The room itself, was very worn out, and with all the fabrics it was really just nasty. The carpet on the floor was worn and with a lot of stains. At least it could have been vacuumed.. Bathroom was likewise worn out, and mould had builded up in the corns of the tiles, to the disgusting bathtub in witch you had to stand in for taking a shower. The bed was absolutely terrible. Might as well have found a bench outside to sleep on. Sure that would have been better, and then in the fresh air. When lying in the bed, you could here the metal sound of the springs in the mattress. I’m absolutely sure that if i hadn’t been that tired i could have counted the amount of springs in the mattress, as they were stinking out everywhere. When moving your hand down over the mattress every single of them could be felt… Defiantly not a nice place to stay. - Restaurant was not impressive neither.. Hopefully I’m not going to stay here again, as my company has been advised.
Lovely stay in room 249, superb king size bed with all modern luxuries. Staff very helpful and attentive. Bar meals are exceptional and good value, large sized plates of food. Only let down was the breakfast as it was cold and the eggs very rubbery, hopefully the hotel will make changes as it was the most disappointing part of the stay.
