Cancun Gay and Lesbian Vacations
Your gay Cancun vacation
Although Puerto Vallarta, Mexico City and Acapulco are considered some of the top destinations for gay travelers to Mexico, Cancun actually has a thriving LGBT scene. Cancun has many things other larger Mexican cities don't: Nearby gay-owned beachfront hotels, gay beaches like Playa Delfines at southern end of the Hotel Zone, and a hopping queer nightclub scene with clubs still pumping since the 1980s.

Cancun highlights

Mexico made easy
Gay Cancun vacations offer 14 miles of perfect beaches and luxury mega-hotels. It's Mexico made easy: English is widely spoken, roads are well-paved, the city feels clean and manicured, and familiar brand names are prevalent for dining, shopping and nightclubbing.
Historic Cancun
The famous Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza and Tulum -- is just a short day trip away. Cancun also has a couple of small museums. The Museo Arqueologico de Cancun has relics from archaeological sites around the Yucatan, and Museo de Arte Popular Mexicano is filled with masks, native costumes and religious artifacts.
LGBT events
Cancun is home to two major gay and lesbian party events: The Cancun International Gay Festival in May and the Cancun Mayan Riviera Gay Fall Festival in November have booming beach parties along with raves in the downtown LGBT clubs.

Mayan ruins in the city
Climb the remains of a small Mayan settlement at the El Rey ruins, oblivious to its age, dating back to 10th century A.D. Bring fruit and feed the hundreds of sunning iguanas. El Meco is quiet, naturally shaded and tranquil enough for a picnic among the 14 structures or at nearby Isla Blanca, a local beach. Both are a reasonable drive from the Hotel Zone.Look for low-season deals
Low season in Cancun is from May to mid-December, not counting a mini high season in June and July, when Mexican and European travelers head to Cancun. Keep in mind, though, that hurricane season overlaps this period.

Practice your Spanish … and your haggling skills. Pottery, hats, jewelry and local crafts mix with fresh meat, fish shops and fruit stands at this very local market.
