Legend has it that the angels built Puebla. However, the truth is that it was one of the first instances of Spanish urban planning based on the rectangular grid, a design used extensively during the colonization of the Americas. Over its first hundred years of existence, the settlement in the Cuextlaxcoapan Valley rose to become a major colonial city. Puebla has many places where you can pitch a tent and sit and ponder for hours, accompanied only by a fishing rod and exerting yourself no more than to simply stretch out and worship the sun god. Suggested places? Metepec in Atlixco where you can see splendorous views of the sacred mountain Popocatepetl or La Hacienda de Chautla, just to name a few.
