Tips for Your Sardinia Trip
Sardinia is the island off the coast of Italy to the north, whereas Tunisia is to the south. In fact, the African coast is closer to Sardinia than Italy is. The great weather and diverse landscapes, offering sunny beaches, green pastures and historic Roman ruins, only add to the island's offerings.
The island is not just another sandy beach destination. However, Sardinia's beaches are some of the best in the Mediterranean. Lay out on the white sand beach of Cala Luna, overlooking the turquoise waters of Marcarella Cove. If the beach isn't your idea of a vacation, take a day-trip to historic Cagliari for museum tours of Roman relics or to photograph ancient architecture. These activities and more await you when you book a trip to Sardinia with Orbitz.com.
Best time to take a vacation to Sardinia
The best time to visit is in late May and early June, when the springtime is transitioning into summer and tourists have yet to populate the island. The tourist season starts in April and ends around October. During the peak of the season, the temperatures average about 85 degrees Fahrenheit and drop to 73 degrees Fahrenheit by October, when the rainy winter begins. However, the sweet spot in the Sardinian calendar, late May and early June, sees temperatures in the mid- to upper 70s, with plenty of sun. May is an especially great month for festivals on the island. Sardinians are known for their music, dancing, great food and wine, all of which flow abundantly throughout their festivals. Events like the Cavalcata Sardo and the San Bachisio festivals are held every weekend in May, as well as every other week during the rest of the season in Sardinia.
