The comfortable Hotel Solymar has originally been built in 1958 to provide accommodation for the scientists coming to the Enchanted Islands. It is located in Puerto Ayora on the Island of Santa Cruz, a ten minute walk to the Charles Darwin Scientific Station and directly at the sea. It is one of the most modern hotels in Puerto Ayora with a small swimming pool on its terrace as well as sun chairs and hammocks. Sometimes even the sea lions come to visit the terrace. Completely rebuilt in 2006, it offers now 17 comfortable modern rooms all with private balcony (except of one) and an incredible view of the bay which is always visited by uncountable iguanas, pelicans and sea-lions.
