Fly Away to Beautiful Shanghai

Shanghai is a modern city with old-world charm. Located on the Huangpu River, Shanghai has grown from a humble fishing town into the economic heart of China and is one of the country's most exciting tourist destinations. The Bund is a captivating waterfront area that is dotted with traditional Chinese buildings, majestic skyscrapers and Baroque mansions.

Western influences and local traditions combine to create a unique experience that appeals to travelers and adventures from all over the world. Huangpu River cruises are a wonderful way to take in all of the sites, and night tours are a fantastic way to see the colorful lights along the river. Bars, restaurants, hotels, art galleries and shops await the many visitors who trek to this coastal city. Orbitz.com can help you find deals and low prices on flights and hotels in the area, as well as information on local attractions.

Best time to take a vacation to Shanghai

  • Early May is one of the busiest seasons in Shanghai. International Labor Day falls on the first day of May, and locals have the day off. Twenty-three million people call Shanghai home, and the city can get quite congested during this time. Late March and April are better times to visit. The weather is pleasant, and prices are more reasonable than during peak tourist season. The Duanwu Festival is held in June and is one of the more popular attractions in Shanghai. Festivities include dragon boat races, eating traditional sticky rice wrapped in leaves, contests and performances.
