Fitzroy Island is a tropical paradise of rainforest and coral beaches within the calm sheltered waters of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. The walking tracks through the rainforest, up to the summit and to the lighthouse offer a fabulous view over the Great Barrier Reef. Located only 29 km off the coast of Cairns, the island is a listed National Park and has only one resort. The island has long been enjoyed by the Cairns locals along with visitors from all over the world. Ferry Transfers to Fitzroy Island are available at 8:30am, 10am and 2pm. Return transfers to Cairns are at 10:30am, 4:30pm and 5pm. Ferry transfers to and from Fitzroy Island need to be pre-booked. Tickets can be purchased directly from us. Return fares are $65 per person, adult. Fitzroy Island Resort offers a range of exquisite accommodation (99 rooms) including Ocean Suites, Self contained apartments, Resort Studios, Beach cabins and a four Bedroom Penthouse. The resort facilities include a contemporary restaurant, large pool with a pool bar and swim up bar, games room, indoor movie theatre, resort general store and dive shop and activities centre offering Sunset Cruises on DJ Eye Spy. Only 100 meter from the resort is Foxy's Bar, the island's own beer garden, the perfect place to unwind with a cool drink, play pool and overlook "Welcome Bay". PLEASE NOTE: The resort pool will be closed for refurbishment from 27th February until Saturday 31st March 2012 and work will continue most days. There will be noise during the first three to five days during daylight hours. However for the remainder of the refurbishment, noise will be minimal. The beach is lovely at this time of year however we are in stinger season and stinger suits are available from the Dive shop for $10 hire per day. The children's wading pool in front of reception will still be available. IMPORTANT NOTICE: FERRY AND TRANSFER TIME CHANGES Vessel Sunkist Departure from Fitzroy island is now at 9.30am daily. (The 10.30am departure is no longer available). From the 1st April 2012 Sunlover Reef Cruises 10am departure (to Fitzroy) will be changing to depart at 9.30am. Check in for this departure is required at Reef Terminal 1 hour prior at 8.30am.
