Release Engineer
SUMMARY
The Release Delivery group is responsible for shepherding code through testing environments, ensuring the quality of crosscutting components like logging and monitoring and developing deployment, management and monitoring tools. We work on a daily basis with developers from all groups and with QA, providing technical guidance and advice.
The Release Delivery group provides an opportunity to:
- Learn about the deployment and configuration of many types of applications at Orbitz including JBoss, coherence and tomcat
- Hone one's unix and scripting skills
- Gain experience in debugging complex distributed systems
- Contribute to the architecture and design of new systems
We are looking for an individual with experience in the following areas:
- unix/linux systems administration
- script languages focussed on Python, Ruby and Jython and JRuby
- some exposure to modern java tools and frameworks, espcially spring, spring-webflow, hibernate, coherence
- problem solving skills we can't emphasize enough that the only requirement for this position is an ability to quickly approach and solve novel problems. Things are rarely clear initially and there are always multiple solutions, we want someone who can do some quick analysis and then devise a solution.
