Business Systems Analyst - Business Intelligence
SUMMARY
The Business Intelligence Business Systems Analyst will be responsible for gathering business requirements, assessing reporting requests, writing detailed functional specifications, providing guidance to developers throughout system implementation, and validating the final product prior to production release. The primary focus of this position is Business Intelligence and Reporting
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Work effectively inside Orbitz as a team member of Business Intelligence. Form effective Work effectively as a member of Orbitz Business Intelligence team. Form effective relationships with a broad cross-section of Orbitz personnel in order to effectively accomplish the position's tasks. These relationships include, but are not limited to the following teams: Product Development (Air, Car, Hotel, Package, etc.), Marketing, Customer Care, Data Warehouse, QA Test, and Software Development.
- Drive continuous enhancements of data capture, data integrity, reporting capabilities & functionality of reporting tools through the development and maintenance of new and production reports for key business areas which track key business performance metrics.
- Gathering Business Requirements from Stakeholders and translating those requirements into Functional Requirements for implementation.
- Be involved with the Project Design Lifecycle throughout the entire cycle; providing support to both business and technical resources
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- No direct supervisory responsibilities
- The analyst will be expected to work closely with members of the Business Intelligence team as well as other departments in achieving their objectives

- Familiarity with the PDLC and how to effectively work thru project planning; requirements gathering / definition; data analysis; design and implementation.
- Hands-on analytical skills and a working and theoretical knowledge of statistics
- Proficient with standard databases, query tools and programming languages such as SQL PL/SQL.
- Proficient understanding of relational Databases, ETL, Teradata.
- Understanding of web site technology; development and online data analysis
- Exposure with a web measurement toolset (ie: WebTrends, Omniture, or the like) in either technical and/or functional understanding.
- Experience with reporting / OLAP tools such as: Cognos enterprise reporting software; Powerplay, Query Studio, Report Studio, Metrics Manager; Business Objects; Brio
- Possesses a strong action and results orientation with the ability to work independently, be self motivated and proactive in achieving individual and team objectives.
- Superior verbal and written communication, presentation and consulting skills and the ability to articulate views crisply and convincingly to all levels of the organization.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines in an evolving and ever changing environment without the structure and rules associated with larger, more established enterprises
- Flexible in methodology, reliable, and sensitive to people.
- Solid implementation and follow-thru skills.
EDUCATION - Degree in Business, Computer Science, Statistics or related equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE
- Travel industry or on-line experience strongly preferred
- A strong business person who thinks about issues from a business perspective; bringing strong technical and financial acumen to the role using this to complement his/her functional depth
