Great central location

Very easy to access from PCH. Plenty of underground parking, free. This is a real hotel, with interior rooms off a hallway, not a motel. The place is reasonably clean, the rooms moderately sized. The bathroom floor space was roomy, but the counter space sort of limited. The decor is very late 80's (retro, lol). The TV has a "flat" screen, but it's not a flat screen--it too, dates to the late 80's, probably. The hotel has a street side and a view side (from the upper floor). The view side is also quieter. Of course, the quieter view side is more expensive than the street side. We only stayed one night, so we didn't pay the upgrade. If you are sensitive to street noise while you sleep, this may not be the hotel for you, unless you want to pay extra. The location is close to downtown Hermosa and Pier Ave. We drove a short distance to Pier Ave, found cheap parking, and had a nice dinner at a boutique restaurant--one of many open late. But if you want to walk, it's about a mile. If you don't drive and don't walk much, you won't starve, because there is also a chain Mexican restaurant across the street, and a fast food place just a short walk away. We didn't avail ourselves of the hotel breakfast, so can't comment on it. Overall, this is an affordable, centrally located, beach city hotel that we would stay at again.

(about a mile) on/near Pier Ave. Fritto Misto Italian Restaurant has large servings for very reasonable prices. Extensive menu, boutique feel, great service.

Great week at Hotel Hermosa

My wife and I traveled from NJ to LA for medical reasons and wanted to stay near the beach but also travel into LA. The Hotel location was just what we wanted. The Hotel and Staff were great, but what most impressed us most was how clean the place was. It is very clear that keeping the place clean is important to the hotel. Underground parking garage with elevator up to hotel was very convenient. I filled up almost every day on there breakfast spread. Would go back again.

Convenient, well-priced location

Stayed one night. It was well decorated for the season and had friendly, attentive staff. Rooms are of modest decor and technology, but for what you need, its great for the price and location.

A comfortable hotel for a short stay

The hotel looks nice and well taken care of. The lobby is comfortable with chairs and couches and is nicely decorated. There are pamphlets for various activities in and around LA. The hotel has it's own parking lot underneath. The location of the hotel is at a busy road, so easy to find. Our room was located at the garden side of the hotel, so there was no noise. There is a convenience store 1 block away and a supermarket 5 blocks away. The walk to the stores isn't very nice, cause of the busy road. Not a good location to go on a walk , but if you are traveling by car, this is not an issue. The room was clean and spacious. The jacuzzi was located in the room itself, next to the sink. The bathroom was also spacious. The facilities include a gym that stays open until the evening (10pm) and a pool (currently closed for maintenance). The staff is friendly to answer all your questions. The breakfast wasn't anything special: slices of bread, a toaster, a waffle iron, yogurt, cereals and coffee, milk or orange juice. If you prefer water you need to get it from the hotel lobby. There was no fruit.

Great location & nice view of the water from the garden.

Surprised to see how much the hotel had to offer. Underground parking, pool & hot tub & the most relaxing aesthetic Japanese garden to enjoy a quiet evening. You'd never know you were located right on a main city street. Rooms were clean & comfortable. Good free breakfast buffet.

Great deal, great view, space was fine

It's nothing too fancy, but the view from the back patio was great. Staff was fine, and space was good -- all for a great price.
