Needs some TLC

The hotel is an older property that needs some TLC to freshen up the look of the rooms. The inside is an odd mix of statues, mirrors, and classic-looking paintings. Tries to look like a converted mansion for guests.

Comfortable, Interesting, and Friendly Hotel

This is a comfortable and ornately decorated hotel (Baroque? Classical?) with friendly and helpful staff and European style. In particular the breakfast buffet in the "breakfast room", very much like those in Germany if not other European countries. My room was nicely decorated, if you like traditional as opposed to modern as I do, with attractive dark wood glass-topped and furniture including a writing desk. Carpet and upholstery were somewhat faded and stained but appeared to be otherwise clean. Bed was very soft. A good shower, nice soap, and other amenities available at the front desk, according to a sign in the bathroom. Location is a mostly residential and small business area with a few small restaurants not too far away, but it is generally necessary to drive or take public transportation for shopping and meals other than the good buffet breakfast or room service (menu looked pretty good). Not too far from highway 85 (freeway). This is the second time I've stayed, I like the place, and will certainly return when in San Jose.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

A Wheel Works about a half mile away around a couple of corners gave me excellent service when I had a flat tire on the rental car I was driving (the rental car company didn't want to do anything).

Don't be fooled by the exterior!

Very unique hotel in the heart of San Jose within in the Campbell area. Close proximity to restaurants & nearby shops. Loved the decor inside, rate includes a breakfast & the meal was better than expected. The room is super spacious with an enormous marble bathroom. Though some travelers may say it is outdated, we loved it and had an enjoyable stay.

A good one night stay for business

I look for a clean safe place that is good value and this fits. Although Boutique is not what I look for this was not too fru fru. Women might like better than men. Small TV in room with limited channels. Not that I needed it, but some like good tv and sports. I'd go back for a good value clean place.

Convenient location/good value

My experience was great. The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean and the breakfast every morning was hot and filling. The hotel was convenient to the family event that I attended that weekend in Los Gatos, and the price was comparable to other hotels in the area.

great for us

The staff was helpful in every way we asked. It is convenient to the freeway system, restaurants, and even a self-service laundry. They also included a substantial breakfast in the room price.

This hotel is convenient to the freeway system, a real boon in a traffic choked city like San Jose.

The Bristol

I checked in at the Bristol and was given a room right off the lobby. I was concerned that lobby noise might disturb my sleep. However lobby noise was not the problem. It turned out this room was little more than 15-20 feet from a busy street and the road noise was horrible. Other than that the the hotel is clean and the rooms were large.
