Great place to get away from it all

  • dch475
  • May 3, 2012
What a great place away from the noise and chaos of everyday living! No phones and no TVs in the rooms might bother some, but for us it was delight. To walk to breakfast and watch the deer and donkeys roam wild on the grounds was wonderful.. Good food and great beaches not only on the resort but on the rest of St. John. It's not a cheap place to go, but it was worth every penny. We did not encounter one rude or nasty person employed by the hotel. We'll be going back.

We had a great stay at the Westin St John! It's a beautiful resort with tons of children's activities! The rooms (bathrooms in particular) are in need of updating but it was clean, comfortable and spacious. It was not the prettiest beach on St John but we rented a dingy on site and rode around to the nicer beaches.

Adventure Time!

Staying at Maho has been a great vacation with value prices to match. If you ever went to camp as a kid and loved it, you will be happy here! The staff was very friendlly and helpful( see Ben for activities and Bill in the art shop). Food was tasty, we did not want to spend time cooking when we could be on the beach. This is def a vacation for those who want to be active! Our son met a new friend on the beach almost every day. We will be back!

Great time, great value

  • USA

Great time at Concordia, very friendly helpful staff. Far better value versus camping, for the wimpy be prepared for a compost toilet and solar showers as well as about a hundred steps up and down to your Eco Tent. Views are stunning, very clean. If there has been rain recently you will get bitten by no see ums, get a repelent bracelet at the store and you will be fine. Watch out for any holes in the screens in the cabins for bugs to get in. Restaurant was very good though a bit pricy.

Amazing Views - Great Value

  • Melcam
  • Apr 6, 2011
I almost cried seeing the look on my teenaged daughter's face as she glanced over the balcony of our Concordia Eco Tent one last time, before we packed up and left. I thought the absence of a computer and daily access to texting her friends would be tough for her... but at Concordia - she didn't seem to mind. Although the box of dried food we sent several weeks ago never made it (definitely pay the extra to use priority if you plan to send something), and we walked more stairs in one week than we probably have all year, the amazing views and friendly staff were unlike anything we've experienced on any vacation in our life. (I give the staff here 5 stars)! Nearby Salt Pond Bay is beautiful for snorkeling and if you can get past the sound of the canvas blowing in your eco tent every night, the crickets and the waves of the ocean will lull you to sleep. Definitely pack or buy bug spray, though only a couple members of our family were bit and the others were not as bad. If you are one who is prone to bug bites, use something with deet and wear long pants and long sleeves after dusk. If you rent a car - be sure to rent a jeep or four wheel drive - as the large speed bumps on St John are very rough on a normal or mid sized car. Something you soon find out once on the island! However, with the minor inconveniences, there were so many perfect moments; like sitting on our eco tent porch watching sunrises, hiking Nanny Point trail at sunset, eating at Concordia Café while listening to live music, getting a morning run in while light mist falls on you, watching the lizards play, etc. After coming home to snow and 20 degree temps in Chicago, these memories will keep us warm for days to come.
