The building is dated, but the room is up to date with very nice linens, excellent bed, updated bath and working AC/Heat. Breakfast in the morning is a complete breakfast, with eggs, bacon/sausage, potatoes, waffles, juice, toast and cereals. Coffee is on 24 hours a day. We were all impressed.

I stayed at this hotel because of its proximity to a job interview that I had. I was pleasantly surprised. There was a free shuttle which picked me up at the madison airport. The driver was very nice. Upon my arrival I received coupons for a free breakfast. Breakfast was basic but good (oatmeal, cereals, scrambled eggs etc). I also had a great time going into the hot tub at night to relax. The beds were very comfortable. The only thing that could need an upgrade was the bathroom- the shower drain was clogged and the towels were not very soft. Overall good stay for a good value- especially if you need to be on the university campus.

Being close to the mall was nice. The hotel is a little "beat-up" but certainly clean. The bar lacked any ambience-bright lights and an overwhelming majority of patrons who appeared WAY too young to be there. We weren't there for frills and extraordinary service so it was fine.

The hotel staff was very nice and the hotel was clean with a european look. The layout of the room worked nicely with a small divide between the bed and the couch area with a tv that could be easily adjusted to see in either area. My boyfriend is business traveler and noticed right away how many inputs they had available from the tv and that they were easily accessible (a major plus he said for business travelers). The one strange thing was that there was a refridge but no microwave. The breakfeast was also very simple and not the best. Though we did enjoy our quick overnight stay here on our way to skiing and would come back.

Not bad. But sort of strange.

Common areas were dingy and had a lingering cigarette odor. Some recent updates to the dining area helped.
Rooms were really clean and generally comfy. Recent updates to bathroms were nice. I didn't think the rooms were as small as others thought, but it would probably be pretty cozy with two beds.
Pretty loud place - some people are living in the hotel, so there were a few doors propped open and some pretty loud arguing between mom and kids in the morning.
Overall, a good value and easily accessible to the freeway, even if there's not much other than chain restaurants within walking distance. The management is clearly trying and making progress.

I had to go for my GMAT exam the next day. I really like the hotel. It was very clean and the staff was very friendly. It was nice and quiet too, so I was able to get a lot of studying done. I really didn't leave my room, and ordered room service, which was reasonably priced as far as room service goes, and very good. Other than being there alone, the trip was wonderful. Their continental breakfast could use some meat on it. It's pretty much all carbs, but it was good too. I would definitely stay there again. It was great.

I am very picky when it comes to cleanliness and this hotel passed. It was quiet and the staff were friendly.
The only thing that I would suggest is that the breakfast is switched up every couple of days. We were there 4 nights and it was sausage, hashbrowns, and eggs each morning. It was good but I would have liked to have some variety.
I come to Madison 1-2 times a year and will stay here again.

My husband & I went to this hotel for a 3 night close to home getaway, and it was fun! Hotel was clean & staff for the most part was nice. Close to a mall & lots of restaurants. Just a short drive down 1 road to get to downtown Madison, which was nice. Definitely a good value.

All they need to do is get new (preferably lo-flow) toilets, flat screen tv's, and more modern bedspreads, and this place would live up to 21st c. 5 star standards. It's just a little stuck in the 1980s. But the services, location, and cleanliness are great! Beautiful view, too!

Staying at this hotel was generally a good time. The room was clean, they did a great job of tidying up our room while we were out during the day as well. Our bathroom was awesome - nice and spacious and our view was amazing, overlooking the lake. Mostly I like the location and the ease of access. Parking was pricey, even being a hotel guest, but it made for extreme parking convenience! I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is in Madison for events happening at Monona Terrace. It was super easy and simple to travel in and out of the hotel to the Terrace and was also very easy to walk around the Capital Building in Madison. We were able to easily visit bars and clubs on Friday night and easily just walk back to our room. Good stay!

Hotel was Great. My room was on the 12th floor with a wonderful view of the lake. Room was clean and the concierge recommended an EXCELLENT breakfast place. The staff here was on point. I wasn't really happy about having to come to Madison, but the hotel more than made up for the stay. Pool is indoors, but a little small. Fitness center is nice for the hotel size, got the job done.

Plenty to do nearby, good value for money

I got a great deal staying this place in 2010 -- which led to an incredible first impression. That and our room had a sliding door that opened up directly onto the pool area. Even though the deal wasn't available this year (I booked late) I was willing to pay a bit more for the killer location, amenities, and responsive and friendly staff. Free overnight parking was this year's bonus. So I parked the car and we walked to great restaurants, State Street, and the Saturday farmer's market. Even when a bargain-basement deal is not available, this is my go-to hotel in Madison.

We stayed here over the Thanksgiving holiday this year while visiting family and were very impressed with the property overall. The best part of our 3 night stay was the fact that the pool, hot tub and exercise facility were accessible 24 hours a day.
The lobby was very nice with coffee available and a large flat panel TV. The staff was friendly and the beds were very comfortable. Shopping and restaurants are nearby.
The rooms were inexpensive but our overall impression from our stay says we'll be staying here again. It's a great value for your dollar.

We needed place to stay cheaply and this was good price.We were traveling north to visit some friends. Room was clean , bathroom good, noticed refrigerator freezer was very iced up ,much needed a defrost. The sheets were very thin . No hairdryer but I expected that and brought my own
By the time we got down for breakfast , very little left and not restocked. We noticed a bus leaving lot , so maybe that is why. We were just happy we did not pay alot , and were not expecting much either.

I took my nephew to tour the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. We stayed at this hotel, which is just a few steps from State St. & many restaurants, shops, & bars. It's about seven blocks from the Capitol, & even closer to the UW campus.
The Inn seems to be undergoing an update. There was the scent of fresh paint in the hall (but not in our room), & everything in the room but the TV & ceiling tiles seemed to be new. The greeting at the front desk was friendly, the beds comfortable, & there were plenty of towels.
There was coffee, hot water, & tea bags in the lobby. We were offered parking but didn't need it so I can't comment on it.
There were only two things I can say against our stay. The shower head was situated quite low; I'm only 5'6" & had to duck to get under it. A bigger worry was that there was no extra safety lock on the door, only a small turn-knob, which seemed flimsy.

Very clean and pleasant, appealing common areas. Rooms are small but nicely appointed and comfortable. Very firm comfortable bed. Cable TV was poor quality (supposed to be upgrading the hotel soon). Breakfast was so-so. The hotel is hidden away in a quiet office park area, but convenient to the expressways. I would go back again.

The good thing about this hotel is that the cable news channels included MSNBC, which many hotels don't offer.
But the internet service was awful. I could have done better with dial-up. Only by running my computer all the time, 24/7, could it keep up with downloading my email.

The hotel room was similar to a efficiency apartment
perfect for one or two, full kitchen, couch and comfortable chair with a table for a desk. It was handy for saving money on food and a comfortable place to crash. Only problem was with the internet. I would go there again.

The staff was very nice and friendly. The room was a nice size. The bushes outside the window for privacy was nice. The complimentary breakfast was pretty good. The bathroom floor was in need of a good cleaning and the walls were paper thin.
