Style Downtown Can't Be Beat

  • profgjay
  • Aug 27, 2012
The W, as you would expect, offers a stylish alternative to other downtown hotels. The all-new building features relatively large rooms with comfortable window-seat couches overlooking the city or, if you are up high, the water and mountains. The location is an easy walk to all the main tourist areas and the main bus and raillinks (we didn't rent a car during our stay, and found taxis an easy option we we got tired of walking). The W is in the financial district, so you are free of the street people and tourist madness closer to Pike Place.

I always like staying at this hotel

  • Jon from Minneapolis
  • Oct 9, 2012
I've stayed here twice while interviewing for a job and then apartment hunting. The location is great. Just a few blocks from Pike Place Market, downtown bus and light rail stops, downtown shopping and restaurants. The staff and valet were awesome for our entire stay. They certainly didn't mind taking our rental car out of valet multiple times a day. The queen sized room is small, but its just perfect for what you actually need. My girlfriend and I were quite comfortable with the queen sized bed and the space in the room. Also, free wifi throughout the hotel.

The front desk staff were friendly and efficient...excellent location for my needs...easily took the monorail to downtown shopping area and back - it runs until 11:00PM......the room was clean and had a desk which is always welcomed...I was in Rm 210....major problem was loud noise from - I assume water pipes - coursing through walls....had difficulty sleeping...noise never let up entire time I was in the room...left feeling annoyed and tired...will not return here....there are other comparably priced hotels in this area.....

The Hotel was worthy of the cost. The alarm clock wasn't set to the correct time and I almost ran out of hot water while taking a bath. There seemed to be a few people just hanging around the lobby. I'm not sure what some of their roles were. Maybe they had a function in the operation, I'm not sure. A great place if you're catching an early flight out of Sea-Tac.

We stayed there to attend a couple of Mariner games. It was a great location, just outside of the park. The room was large and very clean. Enjoyed the breakfast at the hotel restaurant. Lots of good restaurants close by to the hotel. Close enough to walk downtown and they do run a free shuttle to downtown also.

Rather than having to decide who would be the designated driver, the wife & I booked a room at the Silver Cloud Stadium. This hotel was closer to our seats than our car would be had we parked in the Safeco parking lot. The hotel, and our room, were very nice and very clean. We chose a Safeco view room and it was awesome! We could see our seats in the Hit-It-Here Cafe from our hotel room. We were able to watch all the hustle & bustle of people lining up before the games. Being able to stumble across the street to our bed was worth its weight in gold.

Great location, wonderful staff!

  • Jan 3, 2011
The hotel is very comfortable and the staff was amazing. We arrived before our actual check in time and instead of sending us away, they moved upgraded us to a larger suite. Parking costs $20 a night but the hotel let us keep the car there until 3:00 pm the next day. There is no need to drive to enjoy Seattle once you get there as the Hotel offers a free shuttle service with 3 stops in the downtown area every hour. The pool/spa was warm and clean.

Forget all your experiences at other hotels in other cities. This one was great!. The room was clean, the staff were exceedingly helpful and went out of their way to help. The beds el were comfortable and they offered a range of pillows. The location was good but not as close to the space needle or other venues as other hotels. We enjoyed the hotel and will be back again.

Location is perfect if you want to walk to nearby attractions. We were able to visit the nearby Olympic Sculpture Park, Seattle Aquarium, ferris wheel, Pike's Place Market, Space Needle and EMP Museum all in one day because of the central location of the hotel. The room is nothing to write home about, clean and comfortable, but nothing amazing. What you pay for is the location. One negative: the room we had was above the pool and looked out on an elevated walkway. This meant we had to leave the curtains closed all the time since anyone on the walkway had a full view into the room.

I had a very good overall experience at this (relatively) inexpensive hotel right in the heart of Seattle. There was a lot of construction going on in the surrounding area which made navigating to/from the hotel more difficult than it would have been otherwise, but not the hotel's fault. A couple of the staff members could have been more pleasant, but overall a very good experience.

Best Western is the Best!

  • Mjacobs
  • Aug 5, 2012
The breakfast buffet was the best. Make your own waffle, with fruit and whip cream, eggs sausage or bacon, and juice or milk, or a cereal bar with a variety of cold and hot cereals, all free! What a perk .They have a nice little cafe for the evening which we just wanted a little something not a big meal and the price was very reasonable. The location was very convenient to the airport and their shuttle service was great. They arrived shortly after the phone call and got us to our rooms quickly. The staff was friendly as well as helpful.

Return home after European vacation

  • Ella from VR
  • Aug 3, 2012
It was great to come back to stay at the Best Western after a grueling long trip back to the US from Europe! After 3 planes and a long layover in London, our family was exhausted. Everything was clean and confortable at the Best Western we stayed at and we finally had a very good peaceful rest. We were initially concerned since our room was facing International Boulevard but we didn't hear any traffic at all. Next morning the breakfast buffet was good, with many different choices, healthy choices and the area looked clean and big enough to accomodate the guests. Our family was extremely satisfayed about our stay at the Best Western in Seattle.

Good value, should be rated higher!

Family road trip covering three states and four motels/hotels. This La Quinta Seattle Downtown was a standout! Location is great to walk to Spave Needle, longer walk from Pike Place Market but it was not grueling, and I am not a walker. Whole Foods is only 2 blocks away, and a Walgreens about 5 blocks away. In two days, we did not move our car! Decor was boutique hotel style. Spacious lounges and work area with 2 macs and printers available for checking email and printing boarding passes, etc. Free parking, wi-fi, probably many more amenities (such as their fitness room) that we did not try. The free breakfast was more than a continental breakfast This had cold and hot cereals, breads, biscuits and gravy, and a make-your-own waffle station. And, of course, coffees and teas, and convenient take-out cups. There was also lemon water and lemonade in the lobby, and fresh-baked cookies in the evening. This was a good value for our family and I won't hesitate to hook again.

Comfortable facility near the Seattle Space Needle

The La Quinta Inn and Suites is a welcoming, comfortable hotel, with nice lobby and rooms. Breakfast is included; the most pleasant part of it is making your own waffle using a waffle iron. The front desk personnel are very helpful and friendly. The computers in the lobby weren't working perfectly, and the neighborhood is a little seedy, but overall it was a pleasant place to spend a night before heading for the airport, especially since we planned to visit the Space Needle a few blocks away.

IT'S SMART TO STAY AT THE UNIVERSITY INN

  • Kay a native of Seattle
  • Sep 24, 2012
Driving to Seattle from Bellingham is an experience in traffic! The convenience of leaving the freeway at 50th just a before the traffic comes to a halt...is wonderful.University Inn is convenient, clean and a friendly place. The room had everything we needed, the parking is included in the room rate and they have a free shuttle to downtown and other parts of the city. The in-house breakfast is fine but the breakfast place next door is fabulous. A lovely walk around the UW campus on Sunday morning after breakfast and then it was an easy jump onto the freeway to get to the Mariner's game in SoDo.

I have stayed here before. I was surprised I was able to get a room during check-in week at UW! I appreciate the location because it is so close to UW. The beds were comfortable. The room was clean. It smelled good. This is very important to me. Check in was quick. Check out was speedy. Can't beat the price!
