Good location in the heart of downtown. Even next to a movie theatre. Nice inner restaurant. Room very clean with snacks and drinks (expensive but there) The only negatives is they charge for internet service. Most high end places don't charge this. Also its more or less mandatory valet parking. A little low class for this level of hotel where valet parking should be free.

  • Mar 15, 2012
My wife and I just spent 4 nights here. Everything was great. We walked to most places we ate at and visited, and the airport and Seattle Center were just train rides away. The room was clean, the bed was comfy, and the bathroom was one of the best in any hotel I've been in. Staff was helpful when we asked for something, but generally stayed out of the way. Even the restaurant was top notch for any meal, and reasonably priced. Couldn't ask for much more! If and when we make it back to Seattle, we'll look here first.

Being at this hotel, made it easier for us to know all the most important places that Seattle offers at Downtown. We have just 2 days, but because of the excellent and central location you can go all over Downtown walking and also using free transportation that you get it 1 block from the Hotel. It´s excellent and so is the Staff.

HORRIBLE ROOM

  • MARY FRUGAL TRAVELER
  • May 7, 2012
First room reeked of cigarette smoke and they happily moved us. Second room was hot, stuffy and airless. Cigarette smoke travelled into the room thru duct work. This is a "100% smoke free" establishment. The staff were wonderful so I could not imagine complaining about the second room so spent 4 sleepless and airless nights. The restaurant in the building was "not recommended" by the receptionist who was sharp and helpful. The workout room was great. Location is good.

Weekend at the Watertown

  • PeggyP
  • May 21, 2012
We had business in the U District for the weekend and had the opportunity to stay at the Watertown. It was GREAT! The room was very nice---light and private. The bed was separated from the bathroom and sinks by the closet which was accessible from the bathroom side, and gave a nice sense of privacy. Bed was comfy and best of all they had two sets of pillows---one soft and one firmer which is just like home for us. Having free parking available in a garage was a bonus. We will stay at the Watertown every time we are in the area!

Great location , but a bit noisy ( you can hear the 8 lines of freeways ) Very comfortable bed , nice room ( as long as you get the bigger king size room with the sofa & chair ). Wine tasting 5-6 very nice. We would prefer coffe & tea maker in the room . Since it was a " lazy " weekend we never made it to the lobby for coffe, the service ends at 10.. We are very familiar with Kimpton's hotels and they are always a nice place to stay.

The hotel was a very pleasant surprise. The staff was friendly and very accomodating. The room was clean and nicely appointed, the fireplace was a nice touch on a rainy day. Slightly disappointed at the number of young children occupying the spa, made it difficult to relax.

Great place to stay while in Seattle for a Sporting event, Baseball or Football. The Staff was excellent the room was comfortable and well set up with all that you needed. We had a very fun weekend thanks to the staff and shuttle drivers telling us about thing to do and places to eat at. The monday night game was packed and it was so nice to walk across the street and be in the Stadium. We will be back.

We were totally unfamiliar with this hotel chain so went out on a limb when we made this res. We were both really happy. The location is a quick walk to pioneer square and right on the water. Parking is easy valet, and the hotel is pristine and safe. It was expensive, but we went during high season. Can't say anything negative at all about the Silver Cloud!

Nice place to lay your head

  • First adult vacation
  • May 11, 2012
We only stayed for one night while in Seattle. 5 blocks away from the space needle so we got the ticket to see it both in the day and the night and it was more amazing at night! We got to town at 10am and they were able to hold our bags for us in a locked room so I felt our things were secured. We were even able to check in early. Also, it's an easy spot to get to from te airport and only required a transfer from the train to a bus with less then a block walk between the two and saved us a bunch money on a cab.

Great location, lousy wi-fi

  • frustfield
  • Sep 9, 2011
Very convenient location, opposite the Seattle Art Museum and just a short walk (albeit uphill) to the Pike Place Market. Good facilities - hot tub, workout room, free hot or cold breakfast. Room was very large with fireplace, french windows, and refrigerator and wet-bar type sink. However...the wi-fi connectivity was atrocious - kept kicking us offline and the logging in process was a pain (maybe it was my Mac and it's better with a PC!). Carpet was a little shabby and the cleaners were less than scrupulous - minimal vacuuming and no dusting of the venetian blinds on the windows. All in all I'd say no worse than your average Hilton/Hampton/Sheraton type hotel but nothing to write home about. Staff were friendly and helpful. They had no in-room safe which I would have expected in this hotel - but we put all our important stuff (ipad/MacAir/passports) in a bag and they locked it in the hotel safe, which was fine but a bit of a nuisance if you are coming in and out and need to use those things when you return. As with many hotels there never seem to be enough electrical outlets in the right locations. I think the internet connectivity would have been fine if I had used a LAN (which they will loan you) but if, like me, you have a computer that has no LAN portal then you are stuck with the lousy wireless connection.

Very nice hotel in a good location downtown on the water. Staff very friendly. I did not enjoy the $36/nt required valet or the charge for internet access. I would stay there again, especially if I could find a good rate. If you go there for the water view, make sure you pick a waterfront room!

Great...except the pubes and meatballs.

  • Oregon Beezy
  • Nov 30, 2011
Arrived to a pleasant greeting from the studious valet. Walked into an amazing lobby that triggered "oohs & aahs" from my children. Front desk staff were onpoint, cheerful and quick. Room was decorated and designed in a satisfactory way. Once settled, my family and i sat on the couch to relax for a moment. Almost simultaneously we all locked eyes on a round brown object under the coffee table. After closer inspecrtion, we realized it was meat. It wasn't something we brought in with us...which makes it a GROSS OVERSIGHT by housekeeping. Going along with that, there were several pubes that appearted to be glued to the toiletseat by a sweaty butt imprint. Nasty.

Great location, wonderful staff!

The hotel is very comfortable and the staff was amazing. We arrived before our actual check in time and instead of sending us away, they moved upgraded us to a larger suite. Parking costs $20 a night but the hotel let us keep the car there until 3:00 pm the next day. There is no need to drive to enjoy Seattle once you get there as the Hotel offers a free shuttle service with 3 stops in the downtown area every hour. The pool/spa was warm and clean.

Lived up to what was promised

We appreciate quality hotels with a historic past. The Sorrento has been very well renovated, and has a very attentive (but properly discreet) staff. The air conditioning could have been better, but there were lots of little touches that most modern hotels don't provide. Some may consider it a bit expensive, but we would definitely consider staying there again.

Gorgeous Hotel

  • Andi
  • Nov 11, 2010
The hotel was gorgeous. As a designer, I appreciated the detail in the architecture and the high quality of its finishes. The rooms were just as impressive - with luxury linens, marble tile in the bath, and high end fabrics on the furniture. The dining was spectacular as well. Overall - I loved my stay. The only negative comment I have is: On my departure the front desk and concierge were less than helpful! I was disappointed in their level of interest in doing their job - even though I was leaving. I would not let that stop be from returning - the food and room more than made up for their rude behavior.

We stayed here for 2 nights and really enjoyed the hotel. It lacks a few amenities--restaurant, bar, but the location is very good for downtown attractions and the room was spacious and comfortable. I'd recommend it for a nice place to stay in Seattle.

Hotel was a bit outdated, but clean and had all the basic necessities including a continental breakfast with a make your own waffle station! Was conveniently placed downtown almost right under the space needle. We were on our way to Pier 91 for a cruise and there was even a shuttle service for $7 a person directly from the hotel! Was definitely worth the price when compared to the surrounding hotels!

The hotel was in the best spot for not having a car while in Seattle. It wasn't even a 10 minute walk to the Space Needle or the Monorail, made everything so easy. Descent complimentary breakfast, nice desk staff, everything went smoothly.

Stay away!!!

  • Mike
  • Aug 1, 2011
This was a key stop for my family's northwestern vacation, but it was the worst hotel my family or I have ever stayed at - NOT KIDDING! I am a well-seasoned traveler, and have stayed in everything from one-star to five star hotels, but nothing could prepare me for this. We paid for three-star amenities in Downtown Seattle, so I wasn't expecting much of anything, we were shocked at the condition of the place. Even though any small portion of a refund was not possible according to the front desk, we still considered looking for somewhere else to stay. The staff was rude and became augmentative when I suggested they put some money back into the place (because it is in a great location). My suggestion was just that, a suggestion, I wasn't looking for a hostile argument. The pool was out of order, covered and appeared to be full of algae. The hot-tub was empty and looked to be in terrible shape. The room smelled like mildew and old cigarette smoke (non-smoking room). We had to keep the windows open and listen to the traffic all night just to breath. There wasn't even the hint of molding around the doors and windows. Sheets were clean, but thread-bare and yellowed. And the filth, it was just everywhere. In all, it was a miserable night, looking back I would have rather just thrown the money in the trash and slept in our truck.
