Nice relaxing stay for our family of 6

  • May 7, 2012
We enjoyed our stay albeit a breif one. The pool and sand volley ball court were a big hit for our four boys. Our room was spacious, a little outdated as far as the furnishings but very comfortable beds in each bedroom. I would recommend staying here if you have a larger than average family.

Nice Place

  • Jocko the Eskimo
  • Apr 28, 2012
It would be better if there was an easy way to walk to the historic district visitor's center but that's not really the motel's fault. Also the curb cuts between the parking lot and the motel entrance weren't aligned. That's not a big deal if you can easily lift your suitcase for a second to get up a curb but some people might get annoyed. Otherwise, I really liked the place.

  • Apr 16, 2012
Checkin was easy staff very pleasent. The room was not fancy but very clean, TV out dated but who cares wasn't there to look at it anyway. The bed and pillows were pretty comfy. Microwave, Frig, in door pool (clean and a nice size) a plus the kids loved it, small gym, shuffleboard and a mini golf green. Free breakfast waffles, hard boiled eggs, hot and cold cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, bread, muffins, english muffins, biscuits and gravy, tea, coffee, juice, no meat but overall well worth it. I would definely stay again for the price. Only a couple of miles from everything.

My husband & I arrived at the Woodlands the weekend of the new year. Our room was great and the hotel staff was very pleasant. Each morning there was a complimentary breakfast with something for everyone. Took the evening Christmas Tide tour which we thoroughly enjoyed. Also took day tour of house door decorations which was OK. Weather was in the low 60's which was not the usual cold temperatures in Williamsburg in December. Recommend a holiday weekend stay.

The Best Western was a very good value and in a great location. The rooms were comfortable and the upgrades they recently made were very evident. There were a few negatives. The breakfast was terrible. First of all the breakfast never changed. They served some kind of egg discs that I'm sure came frozen in a carton and they microwaved them every morning. I couldn't originally tell that they were eggs. They were rubbery and pretty tastless. The french toast sticks and sausage(?) were pretty much the same way. I would still recommend the the motel, but I would just eat breakfast somewhere else.

We stayed 2 nights and everything was fine. Water pressure isnt the best but nothing to really complain about. Everything was clean and the standard which is exactly what I expected. We werent looking for luxury, just function, so it served its purpose just fine. The continental breakfast was decent...we just missed the belgian waffle maker that's at other hotels ;) We'd stay there again.

Sublime spring break.

  • Twain
  • Mar 13, 2012
Our family wandered away from a cold and snowy central Pennsylvania in search of a quick and easy trip somewhere relaxing and fun, but edifying, too. We could not have found anything better than Williamsburg in early March. No crowds; no lines; no humidity as high as a flag on the Fourth of July. And the Williamsburg Lodge was sublime. Gentile, lovely, sophisticated, but unpretentious, and absolutely perfectly situated adjacent to the historic district. Sharing the spa and fitness facilities with the superb Williamsburg Inn added to the appeal.

The only concern is that the room (in the South Guesthouse) had a small bathroom. One also could hear people in the next room talking - and having knowledge of what they were talking about! But, it was a comfortable little room and cozy. The staff were very nice and genuine, so overall a nice place to stay. They offered complimentary coffee in the restaurant. Staff serving in the lodge bar were excellent all around.

The staff was friendly whenever I was greeted. I did not like the fact that breakfast was over at 9:00. I like to sleep in on vacation. If all you go to a hotel for is to sleep this place is okay. If you want the hotel to provide you with any entertainment or anything I would suggest someplace else. There are a lot of restaurants close by.

HighlightsIntimate hotel across from the College of William and Mary and two blocks from Colonial WilliamsburgTwo restaurantsFree underground parkingOutdoor pool and fitness centerMeeting space for up to 400 RoomsThe 295 rooms echo Colonial Williamsburg style with periwinkle-toned floral bedding, striped wallpaper and elegant wood furniture. Great Location

  • RCNC
  • May 20, 2012
We have found the location of Hospitality House to be the best for visiting our son at the College of W & M, Colonial Williamsburg, Grand Illuminations, great restaurants etc. The staff is always pleasant. Yes, the hotel is a little dated in its furnishings-t.v., bedspreads, bathrooms-but it has always been clean and comfortable. They do now have free Wi-Fi. We will continue to check with them first when visiting-(even now that our son has graduated!)-because we will be back to visit Williamsburg-so much to do there!

Best location in town

I stay here a lot and the service seems to be improving over the past couple of years. They finally got in-room wi-fi, which was a bit overdue. I even ate dinner at their restaurant and it was fine. I recommend the crabcakes. They could spruce up the north atrium a bit. I realize it's just a light-well but it could still look nicer, and create a nicer view for those rooms.

Great location...could use some work.

  • History Lover
  • Jul 26, 2011
Check in was an absolute breeze, which was great as we arrived in the midst of a horrendous heatwave effecting most of the nation. The lobby was clean, spacious and very comfortable. The staff, drained from the heat, remained very kind and patient as they dealt with each customer and tried to get us all settled quickly. (We all seemed to arrive at the same time.) We toured Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. We found this location nicely located as our main goal was to tour Williamsburg. The visitors center is practically around the corner with great family-friendly restaurants within walking distance. More than anything, I'd love to see this hotel take time to really clean and paint the rooms. Tighten or repair air conditioning units - (The front of ours was hanging off.), - but it worked despite the unbelievable July 22-25, 2011 heat wave. I would rate this hotel nice, functional and great if you don't have small children. It's too germy for small children. You would need to come prepared to really clean before you could comfortably let them loose. But for teens and adults, you can definitely stay comfortably here.

We spent 3 nights here, while exploring Virginia's historic sites at Williamsburg, Yorktown & Jamestown. Hotel was very convenient to the Colonial Parkway that accesses all 3 areas. Hotel was totally smoke free, quiet, clean, and 4 yrs. old, we heard from staff. Staff was friendly, without exception. Fitness center and pool were great. Loved having microwave & frig in room. Very comfortable beds! Hotel mgt. promptly repaired broken ladder rung in pool. When I asked about breakfast deal mentioned on line (2 adult breakfasts for $1 each), manager approved it, even though desk clerk wasn't aware of it. Would definitely return here!

Nice but............

  • Dec 20, 2011
We had asked for a handicapped accessable room. When we checked in they only had a room with a king sized bed. There were three adults in our party, so the clerk offered a roll away bed. We agreed to that. The roll away would have barely held a child. Called the front desk and was offered the room next door that wasn't handicapped accessable. We took it. The first room smelled bad. The second room was okay. We had breakfast at the in house restaurant. The food was not that great.. This hotel should have a complimentary breakfast but doesn't. Staff was great.

Hotel was clean. The staff was friendly, all I met, at the very least, said Hi. Some even started a conversation with me. Our room was clean, but the bed could have been more comfortable. The breakfast was average, not great, but not bad. You could get enough to satisfy your hunger and there was plenty of seating. The pool was closed in mid April, so I can't review that, but I would recommend this hotel.

Stayed here for memorial day weekend while visiting the local area and Busch gardens. Checked in at 12:30 Am sat nit with no problems front desk staff very nice and helpful. Room is decent for the price and bed was comfortable. Pool was nice and refreshing. Was going to check out on Mon but decided to stay an extra night and checked back into hotel with the same room with no problems. Hotel is in a great location within a few miles of all the sites and attractions. Colonial Williamsburg right down the street. Only drawback of the hotel is the parking lot is very narrow so with alot of cars there it was hard to move around and park but other then that its fine. Def will stay again. We were only spending one day/night at Travelodge and it was pretty good for our needs. It wasn't the fanciest hotel I've ever stayed at, and the rooms weren't huge, but it was clean and everything we needed was provided. The family that owns/runs the hotel is extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is in an excellent location: located right down the road from colonial Williamsburg and right across from the main drag. Only a 5 minute drive to many restaurants and the Prime Outlets. We really enjoyed our stay!

Started off good

  • Pixelmyster
  • Sep 6, 2011
The room was nice and spacious. When we arrived 8/20/11 the shower didn't work so the woman at the front desk checked it and went back to get a screwdriver to tighten the handles herself so we wouldn't have to wait for maintenance. (She gets 5 stars) Our third night 8/22/11 the toilet clogged (Not due to misuse), I called the front desk and the night manager (his name was Dick I believe) told me to come to the office, pick up a plunger and unclog it myself. I couldn't believe it! If it wasn't for him I would stay there again but not after that.

In town for a wedding and needed a place to shower, change, and sleep. Desk clerk was curtious. Fifteen minutes after settling into our room, we received a call making sure that everything in the room was fine. In the breakfast room, there was an awesome gridle so you could make your own fresh waffle! Overall, the hotel met our needs. We would stay there again.

Upon arrival with my confirmation email in hand the desk clerk informed me that they had proof that I had reserved (and paid for) a hotel room, however, they did not reserve a room for me. So this could have turned out very badly. But, I got to stay in a suite for the price that I had paid for a regular room. No upgrade charges. The room was very nice. Breakfast was amazing. For a free breakfast, I was blown away!

I came down with my family for a few days a Busch Gardens. This is our go to hotel. Nice staff, clean and comfy rooms, and great location. Breakfast room can be crowded in the morning and has limited options. But overall, had a great experience.

The location of this hotel was great. It was incredibly close to all the things to do in Williamsburg. It was 3 miles from Busch Gardens, walking distance from Colonial Williamsburg, and close to outlet shopping. The hotel itself was nothing special. If you are into all the small details and extra amenities then this may not be for you. The toilets did not flush well, the fan was broken in the bathroom. There was also a layer of dust about an inch thick on the air conditioner. However the front desk was very prompt and curteous, and delivered. The pool was nice and clean and there was a restaurant attached to the hotel. The hotel itself was quiet and generally clean. Also parking was abundant, and access to and from the hotel was easy. Check in/out were a breeze.

We attended the "First Day" celerbation in Williamsburg... So we wanted to get close to the acton and find a place where we could walk from and get to the other activities. The Hotel we chose was a litter further away then we wanted but it was close enough... The parking was not good at all... they were doing some work and construction so that explains that... I enjoyed the hotel, It was clean and safe and I would good back again. We only live in Hampton so we were only 25 miles away from home, but since we attended the New Years "First Day" celebation it was nice to get some sleep, since we are older now lol...
