On business, hotel was close to my work. Very nice hotel, quiet, nice work space, clean, courteous staff. Room temp was right, bed was very comfortable. Nice size room. Near lots of shopping.

We stayed here for 3 nights and had a pleasurable stay. The room was clean and nicely appointed. The pool is well mainained and large. The breakfast is plenty filling to start your day and was much more then muffins, juice, and coffee that you get in some places. It's not the cheapest place around but you definitely get you pay for.

Visited with my Aunt who lives in Newport News. Yes, the microwave was missing, but we had a refrig and a good breakfast, muffins, waffles, bagles, coffee and juices. I used the exercise treadmill and bike every morning. The night clerk, a nice young man studying to be a nurse, was very nice and gave me a bottle of his own water.The motel could use a good cleaning especially the carpets and the elevator. The towels were skimpy but they gave us extra when we asked for them. For the price, it was overall good. Next time take some pillows (theirs were skimpy) and towels. A good location for my needs. And I will go again.

We had an excellent quiet room, bed was a little too soft and tv could be updated. Food and service was excellent, pool and exercise room were great. Excellent Sunday Brunch and the service was excellent.

Very close to shopping, restaurants, grocery stores. Building had a faint smell, almost like it used to be a smoking hotel. Median on road to get there so you have to go a little out of the way to get back to it(not a big deal) the mini kitchen was nice and probably the best perk to the hotel. Full size fridge, stove top, microwave, coffee pot, kitchen sink.... great for those who have toddlers that need to eat NOW!@

The hotel is located in a great location close to stores, restaurants and highways. Staff were friendly and approachable. There could have been more towels and toilet tissue supplied for the room. Guest were not given additional towels until old towels were turned into housekeeping. Overall, the stay was good.

Had to call the hotel to get someone to come to the front desk for check-in. Had non-smoking room but still reaked of smoke. Wife went and slept in the truck. Other than location and the room and building weren't falling apart, there was not much else to like.

i only stayed at night and didn't take advantage of any of the amenities. However, the room was clean, I felt comfortable walking on the carpet barefoot and the bed was comfortable. Also, it was very quiet at night when I was there.
However, daily housekeeping was not available, the towels were thin and when I did ask for housekeeping they forgot to replenish the towels.
The front desk staff were courteous but not overly friendly or helpful.

The suite was as advertised -- large, clean, comfortable. The hotel seems brand new. Everything is there for your comfort and convenience. Computers, boarding pass printers, lots of comfortable seating, both inside and outside. Couldn't really ask for anything more.

My 11yr old daughter and I went to visit my son who's in the army!! And the hotel was perfect. It had a perfect size pool(witch she swam everyday. It was a fast check in they had allmy info in the computer, then i want to know if I could change to 2 queens instead of a king and that was no problem. Hotel staff was extremely pleasent and hotel was very very clean! I have nothing negitive to say. Also was close to shopping and dining.

The shuttle is very good and close to the airport. Walking to the mall across the street kills good time waiting for the flight. The staff is very friendly. The continental breakfast is a wonderful start. The locals are friendly too.

The Comfort Inn Newport News was very comfortable. I was highly impressed with the staff and continental breakfast options. The only negative thing I'd have to say about the hotel was that room service took forever. When I say forever I mean the cleaning staff was two doors away from my room and when they finally got to my room, it was like 2 1/2 hours later. Very discouraging!!!!!!The location of the hotel was great though. Just minutes from Newport News Airport and many local restaurants and shopping centers. Overall, it was a nice getaway for the week.

I just had one night there, but it was pretty pleasant experience for the exception of late night jumping kids over my head (I think they should seriously consider placing families with young kids on the first floor). Other than that I liked the hotel over all - clean, though modest, very close to the City Center. Pool and hot tub were working and clean, breakfast had quite a few choices - from freshly made waffles (that you prepare yourself) to different kinds of cereal, fresh fruit, coffee and juices.

We attended the Hampton Jazz Festival for two days. The hotel location was perfect as were the services and hotel personnel. Not only was the hotel reasonable in price but to top it off the weather was beautiful too, so we couldn't ask for more.

The room and hotel were beautiful. There was a major mix up with rooms as I called before booking and was given an incorrect description, but they upgraded me for free because of this. The kids enjoyed the pool although I would have perfered it was heated. The breakfast left much to be desired. I would recommend more than 1 waffle maker for a fully booked hotel and syrup that is not watered down. Overall it was a nice hotel, that needs just a few improvements

Rooms are great! All the comforts of home right down to the ironing board. My wife was able to complete her college school work with the hotel wifi and children were able to swim indoors! Well worth the stay!

This was not good. We received one day housekeeping service for a 3 day stay, bulbs in lights out, front desk closed at 6pm, construction next to our room. We were not satisfied. Nice area, grounds great but staff was not helpful.WE WANT A PARTIAL REFUND.

Truly enjoyed the stay at Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites in Newport News. Rooms were clean, staff members were always very helpful and professional and also the cleaning staff was cheerful and friendly! The Resturant/Bar is conveniently located downstairs, an indoor pool, fitness room (although the fitness room could stand a bit more ventilation with the pool right outside of it), small laundry room and plenty of parking, all in all, made for an enjoyable week. I'd stay again without a doubt! Good job Holiday Inn!

I was late checking into the Hotel and they were very nice and plesant. On the second night I had a freind who slept over and they provided a roll-away bed in the middle of the night. They let my grandchildren go swimming while I was away. My friend had a pet and they recommended the hotel across the street....because I wanted an indoor pool. The entire experience was just wonderful.

we had a late checkin but it wasn't a problem and they even let us see the rooms first. we stayed four nights with a small child and a dog. it is not easy finding a dog friendly hotel that isn't filthy. we reserved 3 rooms each had a different amenity, but none had them all. With a call to the front desk all was remedied rather quickly. The carpet was stained but overall the rooms were clean and housekeeping came around everyday. Excellent location with alot to do close by. Don't plan on the continental breakfast which was only coffee and orange juice but there is a dunkin donuts right across the road so it worked out ok. The police station is also walking distance down the road so we felt pretty safe staying there. My family and I plan on going back again next year we had a great time!

We spent the evening when a lot of children were at the hotel for a competition. Not surprisingly, the kids were quite noisy and we wondered where their parents or chaperones were. Not the hotel's fault, but the walls are not sound proof.
Reservation went well and we got the room that was promised at the right rate.

We stayed at this Holiday Inn Express for two nights, while having business meetings at Fort Eustis. We were greeted by an extremely cheerful and helpful staff. The rooms were clean, breakfast was great and the proximity to Fort Eustis couldn't have been better!

It started off good it look like a OK Hotel and the price was good too. Install i walk in the room :-(( It smelled like Smoke and all the furniture was old and broken up. The next room was JUST as bad the bathroom had BM in the toilet. The three room was up to day BUT the beds are not FULLS sizes there are TWINS beds and it was 4 people in the room WHAT A WEEKEND NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've read some reviews before booking this place. I've spend 3 nights Fri-Mon and can say that place is a bit overpriced comparing to Motel 6, for example. Bed sheets weren't changed in all 3 days, but obviously, room service works better on weekdays. In general, this motel is as ordinary as Motel 6 or 8. No free internet access - you have to pay for Wi-Fi connection. Location is OK, Basically, if you 're unhappy with cheaper places, this one will work fine.And I had to buy my own Shampoo and soap - there was only one small bar of soap in the bathroom.

The hotel furniture is somewhat dated but comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Daybreak breakfast was good. It is off the main thoroughfare and quiet. The shower was clean and water presssure good. The window curtains were too short and left the room exposed. The HVAC unit fan was somewhat noisy.
Overall for a quick trip it was a good stay for a good price.
