Don't let the outside fool you, this hotel is recently renovated and is incredible inside. At only 2/3 the price of nearby chain hotels like Marriott, it's pretty much an amazing deal - you won't find a better value in Lynchburg. We took the risk after reading the other reviews here, and the place was all that and more.
The only issue we had was that the battery for the card swipe on the door of our initial room was dead, so we had to make two trips back to the lobby. We were promptly moved to another room, of course, and were also given vouchers for a full breakfast the next day.
Be aware, the restaurant's dinner service closes at 8:30pm during the week (which caught us off guard) and we had to order from local delivery. On the upside, when we had no way to store our extra food, the staff wheeled a microwave/fridge up to our room with no up-charge.

We have stayed at the Kirkly Hotel many times. My daughter goes to LU and we stay here when we can. The room was absolutely spotless and the staff is always 100% - You cannot get a nicer bunch of employees anywhere IMHO.

The hotel as perfect. I enjoyed the rooms and the hotel is pleasant. I had spoken to [...](night attendant) and asked for an additional few hours of rest before check out since this was our honeymoon night. [...]had informed me that this was acceptable. In the morning, one of the attendants tells me that I need to leave within 30 mins. This was at 10.30 am. When I informed her that [...]had allowed us to spend an additional hour, she retorted that this was not acceptable. We then had to rush and get cleaned in a rush.. so that she would not charge us for an extra day. These were her words. I did not get her name, but I know she was a black lady. This was the night of 4/1/11

There was no heat in the hotel room and little to know interest in correcting the issue. They came up and checked and just said it is not working. Did not attempt to find us another room, just brought in another bedspread for each bed and suggested we run the hot water all night to keep it warm. We, of course, would be unable to sleep with water running all night. We also had very heavy people in the room above that stomped around the room when they were there.

The Super 8 Hotel was your typical Super 8 hotel in a college town. Although the rooms are a little outdated and could use some upgrades, I would stay there again. It's a great location if your conducting business on campus and not worried about decor...

While Joe forgot about my request for additional blankets for my cold-natured elderly Uncle, upon being reminded, he was apologetic and quick to oblige. Mary, on the cleaning staff found one of my Uncle's prescription pills which he must have dropped. She was tipped for her attention to detail and nice note saying she had found the pill. One of the manager's asked us if we were enjoying our stay and our free continental breakfast - we said Yes.

I stayed for a week while visiting Lynchburg. The staff were professional &helpful during my visit. The hotel was very clean and modern. I would recommend trying the restaurant during your stay.

Older hotel ,clean room, nice bed ,noise air condition, we just open slider to let cool air in as it was very cool that night. Need to book early to get a better hotel in this area, as rooms fill up when events are going on. this place is ok but you can get a better place if you book earlier.

I was in town with my sister for a family reunion-type event, as Lynchburg is my mom's hometown. The hotel was very old and I'm not sure the sheets had been washed before we stayed in that room (they didn't smell too fresh). The iron didn't work and there was rust/water spots metal fixtures. My sister and I had no other choice but to stay at this hotel as there was some event at one of the local colleges, and a lot of people were staying in hotels that weekend. Given the choice, we would have definitely picked another place.

First off, we were originally told that there were no blocked off rooms for the wedding we were attending, when in fact there were. And the people who reserved those rooms got a better rate than we did. They basically gave us the run around about this until i called them out on it. Secondly, we reserved a room with a king bed instead of the two queens but were put in a room with two queens.

We stayed 5 days for my husband intensive classes at LU. Our room was a king with sofa bed for my little one. Nice TV, microwave and fridge. Bed was very comfy and pillows were differentiated between soft and firm, Bathroom was clean with plenty new towels. Breakfast had hot sausage, biscuits, eggs, cereal, pastries, a pancake maker, yogurt, milk, overall nice selection. I was truly impressed with staff. From house keeping to front desk they were very helpful, kind and since I had my son with me, they would always come to say hello to him and even when he got hurt playing and could not come for breakfast, the ladies would ask about him and show sincere compassion for his little "booboo". I requested a quite room and we stayed at the 3rd floor which was really quiet. The only thing that made me uncomfortable was the fact that someone had booked a conference room that happened to be on the 3rd. Floor to "buy gold". I have to admit that I didn't like the fact that "strangers" were coming to sell their gold at the 3rd floor, next to the guest rooms. In my opinion the conference room should be away from the guest rooms to protect guests privacy and safety. Other than that We had a very nice stay and I already booked our next trip at the same hotel.

Elevator is extremely slow; fortunately there is lots of reading material on the ground floor to help pass the time while you wait. Staff is very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Continental breakfast lacks any real substance or variety. Fast food restaurants are within easy walking distance and nicer restaurants are just a short drive away. Mall is a long walk or very short drive. Centrally located with easy access to all Lynchburg freeways. Very near to LU.

This is a typical motel. Room Ok, Clean, comfortable, nice quiet refrig! Breakfast a bit of a let down. No real milk for coffee. Just a couple danish and muffins. No cereal or anything hot. No tables in lobby but there was a nice table and chairs in room with King bed.

Staff was friendly and very accommodating. Continental breakfast was horrible - very few options provided for the price paid to stay there. Somewhat pricey for a one night stay, but a satisfactory hotel.

Staff was great. Room was clean and comfortable. Assumed breakfast was included with room. Surprised had to pay $11.00 for buffet breakfast that could have gotten more or the same at golden corral for $6.00

we were visiting my daughter who attends Sweet Briar. We enjoyed our stay, although we did not like the bugs (i guess they are called stink bugs) they were in the hallways and room.

I booked this hotel because it was close to LU and the price was right. I was traveling alone so did not require anything special. The hotel was adequate. I was greeted immediately upon arrival and the check in process was easy. The only drawback was there was only soap available in the bathroom and not shampoo or lotion. This may be common practice for an ESA property but this was my first time at this chain.

It was a nice stay. It was a nice day. Would have been nice to go to the pool but it was closed. The room looked very modern and clean. Nice separate sitting area with sink and fridge. Bed and pillows were comfy. Next to the highway so you can hear all the cars driving by. My husband considered it white noise but I like to sleep with a quiet environment.

Pretty nice location right on the highway and away from the busy, noisy areas. The room was pretty decent and good value for money, I would recommend it for someone that's not extravagant.

Stayed at this hotel one night while visiting relatives in the area. Hotel is no frills but decent for the price. Room was clean and quiet but breakfast had minimal offerings. Overall, what I expected for a low budget room.

The Craddock Terry made a great overnight getaway for this local couple. The rooms are decorated in high-end detail, yet maintain that "old factory" feeling. Several great restaurants are within walking distance as are shops and Percival's Isle which is a great place to walk or take a bike ride. The bed was luscious and the bathroom was something you'd see on HGTV. The only (minor) negative was that they did not have wi-fi. The room was hard-wired for internet, but wi-fi would be more convenient.

Very nice hotel with a nice wood-fired pizza place, Waterstone, connected to the hotel in an adjacent building. The steak restaurant next door, Shoemaker's was closed that Sunday, so we ended up going to the Depot Grille. It was about a ten minute walk, but the weather was nice. Could easily drive there, if you choose.
The hotel itself was very tastefully decorated and my wife, who really cares about these things, loved it.
Me being a guy, didn't care as much about the foo-foo side of things, but the place was cool and the price was decent for a nice, non-chain place and it was convenient to 29 Business, which got us to and fro easily from Liberty U.
