I had a rental car, so that made the difference. I had interest in staying close to the Alexandria- Washington area. Very convenient. But be aware that parking is $18.00 a night.

Staff was great, amenities terrific and the location was outstanding. The only issues I faced dealt with television reception (was on the fritz for 4+ hours) and carpet cleanliness (seemed like it hadn't been vacuumed).

Suites are nice and beds are comfortable. We stayed there over Thanksgiving and were disappointed to learn the pool was only open from 4 pm to 10 pm. This hotel clearly caters to business travelers but was a good deal for our holiday stay. There is a Trader Joe's 2 blocks away for picking up snacks. The rooms don't have real refrigerators though, just electric "coolers" so can't keep perishables too well.

Loved the hotel and hotel staff. The room was spacious, very clean and the bed was so comfortable! We had breakfast at the Fin and Hoof restaurant and our waiter, Michael, was just a doll!
Our only issue was with the shuttle. The nice front desk person sent us outside to wait for the shuttle but instead of taking us to King Street - he took us to National Airport and then informed us that he was just going back to the hotel and not down to King Street. We ended up taking a cab into Old Town from the airport. Other than that one glitch - perfect stay. We'll definitely stay here again on our annual visits.

Older Motel, but CLean, Friendly, close to the Main drag of Alexandria and 6 blocks from Braddock St Metro.
Room was clean, with fridge, microwave & Keurig coffee. Bed plush and comfy.

Stayed five nights. Hotel was located in the Old Towne area of Alexandria. Walking distance to Metro trains to DC Mall & Smithsonian. A few blocks from the quaint Old Towne shopping district. Room included refrigerator, ironing board and microwave. Only one chair, and small table/desk. For the price, I doubt you can do much better if you're interested in the monument areas of DC.

Although the motel is old and could use a facelift, the king size bed was comfortable and the room clean - though small. The biggest plus for this motel is the location - walk to Old Town Alexandria and minutes from Washington D.C. So considering the price, it is a good value - just don't expect too much in "the comfort" of a nice room.

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. The rooms were clean and the staff friendly. I really liked the fully stocked snack area. The only thing I found wrong was that the hot tub was not in service. The breakfast looked great, but I can not eat hotel food due to gluten issues.

Have stayed here before and chose to return. The wine hour is always well attended.
I went to the pool. While it is beautiful--it is way dark up there. More lights would be helpful
My shower/tub faucet was a little cantankerous, but engineering showed up immediately to fix it.

Nice stay at Embassy Suites

I never stayed in the Alexandria, VA area before, but I would recommend to anyone to have a GPS in your car. I cannot tell you how much frustration that saves you. Downtown is an obstacle course of traffic and road construction.
The Hotel is above par and the staff was very helpful. My wife lost a button on the formal outfit she was wearing and the Hotel staff run up a sewing kit to our room to take care of the problem.
The parking is quite expensive--$24 a night, so that will be a surprise expense if you stay in Old Town.
But it is peace of mind and convenient to your vehicle.
The breakfast was a great experience, and was cooked to order, plus all you can eat and drink for free. If you have kids, this is a incredible value.
Nice indoor atrium restaurant allows you eat casual and kids can wear their PJ's saving parents one more headache of getting kids ready/dressed.
We would stay here again without hesitation!!!

This hotel is right across the street from the Metro to Washington DC and right near King Street in Alexandria. The daily breakfast is so convenient. We have stayed here before because of the convenience and the nice facility.

I loved everything except the TV: its remote was a real pain to use... the buttons had to be pressed repeatedly to make them work, sometimes even had to power off and start over to get them to work. but, on the plus side, the pool is very nice, the breakfast bar is great, the rooms/beds are quite comfortable, and a special request for a mini-fridge for senior medical supplies was quickly accommodated at no charge. Excellent service!

This hotel has great management and employees that are friendly, smart, and customer oriented.
We stayed one night for a two day weekend getaway in Alexandria. This place is very modern, but practical when it comes to making your stay comfortable.
We were celebrating my girlfriend's birthday, and there were roses and balloons placed in the room after we came back from dinner. Oh Yeah, I got some brownie points!!!
There was a misplacement early in the stay, and we were "offered the moon" to make up for it. It was nice to know there is a free steam room in the hotel spa for guests. We'll take advantage of the spa next time. Don't forget about the evening wine reception for all guests.
After you check into the hotel, preferable on a Saturday, head down King Street and take in all the hot spots at the end of the street or neat places as you approach the end. We had been on King Street before, but we didn't know it was even better as you go toward the end.
Alexandria is great for an all day Saturday and Sunday get away for locals who may drive back the next day on Sunday. If visiting D.C., This hotel provides you a wonderful stay in a real cozy historic town along the famous King Street.
You're also in walking distance or a free trolley ride to the blue line subway (metro) that takes you straight into D.C. and lets you off at the National Mall for the Smithsonian and National Memorials.

Basically, everything is fine. The level of service is average. However, there is one thing we can't accept.....The last day morning, we were waken up from the loud noise at 8:45am, because hotel was working on the renovation!! But they didn't mention any thing about that when we checked in.

Free Internet in your room, free continental breakfast (your basics: variety of cold cereals, English muffins, muffins, toast, fruit juice), free shuttle service to the metro station (alert them at least 15 minutes in advance)...some rooms even have microwaves & fridges.
You can also walk to the metro station or catch a bus. Wal-mart, Target, & a few shops are within walking distance, as well as many pizza & fast food eateries.
The downside is the noise. If you're a light sleeper, don't get a room in the front of the hotel OR by the elevator. You can hear other hotel guests if they're outside but it's still bearable...just something to consider & that's why the price would be more reasonable if it were about $10-15 less per night. See if you can haggle if you notice a lot of vacancies...it won't hurt to try!

I attended a State Department event in Washingtion, DC.
The RedRoof Inn is a relatively inexpensive place to stay in the Washington, D.C. area. It is located about 3 long blocks from the end of the Yellow Metro Line at Huntington Ave., a 20 minute walk from the Red Roof Inn to the Huntington Metro. The room was clean and had the basics. The bed was comfortable. A "no frills" room. It was adequate for my needs.

Our room was comfortable but we had to take double beds to get nonsmoking room. VERY large dining area for nice complimentary breakfast. Large lobby area and parking. Located right off of I 95. While it isn't far from Old Town Alexandria, we were expecting it to be closer in from the name used by the hotel [...]Desk attendant at check in rudely told me I could not use my Honors program since I booked with a third party. Strange and unfriendly reaction, I thought.

The location is excellent, centrally located in beautiful historic Old Town Alexandria, just a few minutes to National Airport, downtown Washington, DC and the National Harbor in Maryland. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby. The hotel was very clean and the rooms modern and comfortable with flat-screen TVs and nice bedding. Plenty of parking. Great value!

Stayed in this hotel while we toured D.C. and it was PERFECT!!!
Shuttle service brings you to the metro station, as well as into Old Town Alexandria which was another pleasant surprise. In downtown there are great restaurants and some quaint shops; everything was very fairly priced and we can't wait to go back again next year.
This portion of our trip went so well that my boyfriend and I want to make it an annual one. Can't wait to visit this hotel again.
Also there is a supermarket across the street which, for anyone who travels and gets sick of restaurant food after a while, this is perfect!!
The hotel provided a mini fridge and microwave so its extra convenient.

The metro was easibly accessable through the hotel shuttle. It made the trip so much easier for us rather than looking for parking when we were in the city and it lowered the cost of the whole trip. Watch out for the hidden parking cost at hotel and food prices in general in the area.

The room was clean, and spacious, but the bed was not very comfortable. I got this hotel rented on a discount, I would never pay the actual room cost it's not worth it. I enjoyed the easy access to public transit. It made the trip a whole lot easier. Food prices are a bit crazy, and you have to pay extra money for parking per day.

Very friendly and accommodating staff! Hotel was clean; breakfast was good, and the shuttle service to Old Town was a bonus. While this hotel is in the business district rather than Old Town, it was ideal for a quiet stay and very short ride to all of the sights.

Really liked this hotel. It is located in a new, very clean part of Alexandria. Even though the metro tracks were just outside our window, it is the quietest hotel we have every stayed in. Never heard the train or any noise in the hall way. The buffet breakfast that is included in the price of the room was excellent. We had egg, sausage, pancakes and hash browns. The location is close to a metro station if you want to use that to get to DC. Good location for driving to DC, Old Town Alexandria, and Mount Vernon. Will stay here again the next time we go to DC.

Great location and great value. Stayed in a 1-bedroom suite with our 2 young children for 2 nights. Plenty of room and the kitchen was a good feature. We mostly ate out but it was nice to be able to take back the leftovers. It's not a 5-star luxury hotel (lobby is not impressive, and the pool was just okay) but then again it's not priced that way either. And the breakfast buffet - which was included in the price - was very good. We've been to other hotels where we paid a lot for a breakfast buffet that didn't include everything we had here. Overall: no problems, very good deal, and very convenient to the heart of the old town area (King Street).

On our trip south from the northeast. This hotel was very easy to get right off the highway and had great parking. In our room the toilet was broken and were quickly given a new room without question. Great breakfast with healthy options. Free wifi.

My wife & I had a wonderful trip to DC over Thanksgiving weekend visiting family in the area. Part of the enjoyable experience was our stay at the Courtyard at Marriott. The room was very clean and comfortable and the staff was very outgoing and wanted to do anything in their powers to make our stay memorable, pleasant and stress free. We stayed at Springhill for a mini family reunion. Had asked for rooms nearby but they were as far apart as possible. Springhill is not that big that we couln't see eachother when we wanted. The maid forgot to replenish the soaps ets. Liked the idea of constant coffee in the loby and a paper plate to use in the microwave.

We visited to see around DC area with two kids. First of all, person at the hotel front was so~ kind! She just looked happy to help anybody in the hotel. The room was like brand-new, clean and everything in the room was very neatly organized; was partitioned into two spaces, bedroom and small living room. So I think it's roomy enough for a family trip. Second of all, it's quite close to DC, only 15 minutes. Lastly, the complimentary breakfast was nice. So overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel for family trip to DC. We, of course, will stay there for the next visit.

The shuttle service to the Metro rail station provided by Comfort Inn was awesome. We visited the National Mall area in DC and the National Zoo.
The only thing that was missing was an indoor pool.

My wife and I spent the night before Xmas here; we were among not-many guests, but the staff was friendly, the breakfast next morning (scrambled eggs, bacon, potato patties, waffles, etc.) was bountiful; and the price was very good. My only caution is to ask for a room on the back side of the hotel; on the front there is considerable noise from Van Dorn St.--only some attributable to reindeer.

perfectly located in old town alexandria----was able to walk everywhere--it was very beautiful and romantic.this is probably the first time i can honestly confess there was not one single thing that i could complain about.everything was perfect.also it is located in a very safe environment.

Overall lovely experience! The staff is welcoming kind and helpful. Especially a wonderful young man, [...]. We hsd a great distance to travel for a Memorial Service and he gave us his personal GPS to use. We are not at all familiar with the DC area so he helped with what could have been a frustating and stressfull commute to Manassas. Thank you [...]!Well trained staff!!
