Park City Hotels
Park City is a year-round resort town located on the Eastern
side of the Wasatch Mountains, part of the Rocky Mountain Range in Utah.
Probably best known for its skiing and winter season with three world-class ski
resorts- Park City Mountain Resort, The Canyons Resort and Deer Valley Resort -
as well as hosting the annual Sundance Film Festival. The winter offers great
opportunities for skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice
skating, snowmobiling, sleigh rides, tubing, shopping and dining. Summer
activities include hiking, mountain biking, road biking, horseback riding,
golfing, shopping and dining.
In 2002 Park City was a major host site for the Salt Lake
City Winter Olympics. 175 city volunteers contributed more than 6000 hours to
the Games, or the equivalent of 750 workdays (and this doesn't even count the
public safety volunteers). Long before Park City became a world class mountain
resort and venue for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, it was famous as a silver
mining town, and boasts a lively and colorful past. Founded by prospectors in
the late 1860's, Park City continued to mine silver until the early 1970's. The
mining company, Park City Consolidated Mines, started the ski business in 1963,
when they built the first lifts on what was then called Treasure Mountain.

Great value for the deal we got
-
JordanN
- Dec 30, 2012
We had a great deal off of the normal rates for one bedroom hotel rooms at the Sundial. The value factor, therefore, significantly increased my overall satisfaction with the hotel. In general, it seems that the Sundial may be the more inexpensive hotel/condo in the Canyons area. Still, the niceness and convenience of the Canyons village adds a level of comfort and ease to a ski trip that staying in even a slightly nicer place away from the slopes would not. Sundial did have clean, spacious rooms, so I certainly felt comfortable in the room; hotel appeared renovated somewhat recently; had good hot tubs and pools; and good views from most rooms. It does not have any of the "added touch" that more luxurious hotels or condos would offer. For that, however, you can do things like pay $15 for a day pass to the next-door Serenity Spa. Most of all, Sundial allowed for immediate access to the Canyons gondola lift and had plenty of free parking underground so that we could also easily drive to other area resorts. These factors cannot be underestimated for having a great ski trip.

Not what we wanted, don't recommend

- Aug 6, 2011
We had reserved a one bedroom at another property because it had exactly what we were looking for but when we arrived there we were told they were full and we had been "upgraded" (bumped, in other words) to this one. Once we found the Lodge, got into the parking garage which was mostly closed for construction and then found the registration desk we got our room. Since my husband is disabled we have to have easy access, which this place does not; and once I finally got him and everything into the room we discovered that: 1) many items such as dishes and the TV remote were missing; 2) the jetted tub, one of the things I really want on my vacations, just sprayed water all over the bathroom and couldn't be used 3) the only working washing machine in the place was three floors down, and always in use and 4) our room looked right out onto the plaza of the lodge where there was a big festival going on all weekend so beginning at 8 each morning inflatable bouncy castles and such were blown up, and the very noisy activities went on all day and into the night. Since it was a weekend the problems with the room couldn't be fixed, at least that's what the one person in the facility told us. While the room was lovely, with all these problems it did not make for a relaxing trip, and I was very disappointed. If there isn't a way to resolve problems there is something wrong with the place. And since it wasn't even where we had reserved that made it even more disappointing!

Room was great! Larger than expected, super comfortable bed. The staff here went completely out of their way to assist us, and their interactions never came across as trained responses or insincere. It is well located right between PCMR and Canyons if you plan to split skiing time at both. Easy to catch shuttle right outside the hotel, but it isn't as easy to walk to downtown after a long day skiing (uphill) or if you're still adjusting to the altitude.

We loved Park City and were very pleased with our accommodations at the Silver King. We had a studio room with a full kitchen, and we liked the fact that there were two bathroom sinks (a vanity area and one in the actual bathroom). We enjoyed the hot tub. Our room (312) was in a great location - only a couple doors down from the back exit of the hotel (3rd floor), which was directly across the parking lot from the ski lifts. We were also right down the hall from the hot tub and pool but not too close where we heard any noise. The underground parking was very convenient. I had read comments that the parking spots were too small for SUV's but we didn't have a problem. I would definitely recommend this hotel and a trip to Park City! Fabulous restaurants and Park City is a great town with character! We skied Park City, Deer Valley and the Canyons and felt Park City was the perfect base.

This place is amazing! I have never taken the time to write a review of anything before but The Caledonian merits it. Location couldn't be better, after hours checkin was a breeze [...], service was excellent, and the "room" was spotless & luxurious. I use quotes on room because it's really a spacious condo with a full size kitchen and full baths for each bedroom (we stayed in Room 210, not sure if they're all similar.) There are balconies/patios on each floor overlooking Main Street so you do get some noise from the nightlife, but we didn't notice it once we closed up the balconies for the night. We contacted the manager twice with minor questions and got immediate responses both times, even though there isn't a traditional staffed front desk. [...] was great, really top notch service. Worth every penny and then some.

There is only one entrance. Very inconvenient. My room was decorated as one would expect in a ski town. (I loved it)! The bed was comfortable. The floors, rugs, needed to be cleaned better. When I entered the room it was boiling hot. If it would have been summer I would have been very angry. As it turned out...opening the windows cooled it down in about an hour. I would probably stay again if the price was right. Good location.

From the bad reviews I was afraid it would be a dump but I was surprised by the newly painted walls and the room was taken care of pretty well. I gave low rate for staff because they go away (lobby) - they actually shut the counter area totally and all you have is a phone to leave messages. one day my room did not get seviced and i called the staff to bing me towels but no one came or called me back. The next morning a lady came, made our bed, left towels but thought that the half little shampoo sample was enough for us... hehe... we managed. Now it is very well located and clean. I wish the bed was not so soft. The guy upstairs waljed very heavy but I guess they cannot control that. I would go back if I could not afford a $120 hotel again. As

The staff is first class all the way. There isn't a bad veiw in the resort. The two room suites are a bit on the pricy side, but are in great shape. My only complaints are:
1. The knifes were not sharp
2. One of the refridgerator door shelves was broken
3. Windows could be opened, but without screens
4. Price per night could be more reasonable, especially during off season.
No transp to down town - if you want to party, better bring some extra cash for a cab - BTW $20.00 each way
5. Onsite parking is $16/night, unless you like to hike to and from your hotel to gravel lots about a 1/4 mile away.
What was great:
1.. THe staff bent over backwards to ensure you did not go for wanting
2. Sumer concerts
3. Close enough to the downtown, but far enough away from the histle and bustle
4. Excellet rooms for family and couples

There was nobody at any desk when we arrived and had to check in by telephone. Our room did not have a refridgerator so they upgraded us to a room with one. The hot tub was down almost the entire time we were there. Overall however it was a great value based upon the price that we paid.

This property is managed by an organization that manages many other buildings. A guest must check in at a central building, then drive to another where the room is located. That may have been ok, but there was no staff in the lobby to help or to answer questions. When I got someone on the phone at the after hours number, he seemed unprepared to help me. When I arrived at the building where my room was located, the code I was given for the keypad to the outer door didn't work. I again called the after hours phone number and a man said he would come out and help me. It was a good 15-20 minutes before he arrived. The room was nicely decorated with comfortable beds. There was a kitchenette and the bathroom had granite counter tops. The deadbolt on my door wouldn't lock, but I slept well anyway!

Our stay was wonderful! We skiied for two days and explored Park City and Salt Lake City.
The only problem we encountered was that there was limited snow. So only three slopes were open on the mountain. So if you are an expert skier this was not the place to go. Wait to January!
You couldn't beat the location! It's close to everything!

Silverado Lodge visit

The Lodge and visit was a great experience. The bed was comfortable, the fireplace was wonderful and snow was falling most of our visit.. It was a little bit of a walk to the onsite restaurants but nothing we could not handle. The staff was very friendly and helpful and I would definitely stay there again.

Great place just outside Park City
-
JR Boston
- Feb 26, 2012
The Silverado is at the base of The Canyons ski area, just a few miles north of Park City, the Park City ski area, and the Deer Valley ski area. Alta/Snowbird (stunningly beautiful ski areas) are less than an hour's drive away. While located at the base of The Canyons, it's a tough walk from the Silverado to the lifts carrying ski gear. The hotel has secure heated parking in the basement, so you can leave your skis, boots, jackets, gloves, etc in the car overnight, a real work saver. With a full kitchen, two baths, and two gas fireplaces, the king suite was very comfy. The place looked new and was spotless clean. This particular unit didn't have the great views that many ($) in the area do, but it was still very nice.

We were celebrating our anniversary and stayed two nights. We were there during the park city arts festival which was held on main st. Silver Baron had a free shuttle to take us where we wanted to go so we did not have to worry about traffic and parking. The only thing missing from this hotel was a restaurant/bar. Also breakfast would have been nice.

Hotel was great but the lady at the front desk who worked Wednesday afternoon on Oct.21st was extremely unhelpful. I had never been to Utah so I was asking how to get to nearby Kamas. She corrected my pronunciation of the city, said it was about 30 minutes away and then put her nose right back into her computer screen. I was the only customer in the lobby. I didn't even see any other customers during my 3 day / 2 night stay, so I'm not sure what she was so busy doing that she could not be more helpful. Everyone else at the hotel was very freindly though. Lastly, the strict 10am check out was a little bothersome and created a slight problem for me. I really enjoyed the room and the location though.

My girlfriend and I stayed in a three bedroom condo with two other couples. We were there to enjoy the snow and activities that come with it. The condo itself was wonderful! Very clean and modern with new appliances and furniture. The condo was set up with all the essentials including dish soap, laundry detergent, and all the proper toiletries. The fireplace was icing on the cake. We were also lucky enough to be right next to the community hot tub which was super! The concierge was very helpful with whatever we needed. The shuttle driver, Rudy, was incredibly nice. Our only complaint was that their shuttle service only runs 2 miles away from the lodge which isn't nearly far enough to get you to most of the local activities. The city bus is free but is quiet a haul from the room to the stop which is terrible when carrying gear or groceries in a storm.

Thehotel and grounds were great. Most of the staff was helpful, for some reason our room was not ready at check in and then we could not get a later checkout. Other then that it was great will be going back! West gate grill was amazing!

We went there for spring skiing. The hotel located right at the Canyon Mountain. Very easy access to lifts and other restaurant. It is very convenience, they have everything you need here you don't have to leave resort. The kids love the indoor/outdoor pool. We love the fact that there are several pools in the resort and an adult pool area. The rate I have for the room included ski valet which is great! They take you skis out to the gondola and when you are done skiing they store your skis and dry your booths. I would definitely recommend this place.

went during worst snow in utah history. the hotel was great and my wife and 2 teens stayed in cottages. the cottages are great for family of 4 or less. the only problem with whole room was the lousy mattress on pull out... they could put a topper mattress to solve issue. otherwise staff, service and shuttle to and from hotel all 5 stars. although great service and convenient i would do ski rentals at ski resort if you are looking for better equipment.

It was a wonderful hotel with Ruth Chris Steakhouse on property. The only down side was the fire alarm went off in the spa area while we were checking out. The alarm is for the entire complex, not just the separate spa area and it was VERY loud.

The staff ws very friendly and helpful. I realized when I got home that I had left all of my prescription medicines in the room. I called the hotel and they looked in their lost and found and said they had my prescriptions there. They took them on a Saturday and shipped them back home to me in Louisiana.

Good hotel with some drawbacks

Nice hotel, clean, friendly, good receptionists, best WiFi I possibly ever had in a hotel, free breakfast, nice pool and hot-tub area. Room was clean, seemingly new furniture and carpet, a lot of storage space.
Some downsides compared to similarly priced hotels nearby (BW Landmark Inn, Hampton Inn) include more limited breakfast and particularly poor sound insulation. If the people in the room next to you or above you get up, you will notice. For me, the bed was too hard, gives me back pain; but that may apply only to me.

We were able to cook our own meals in the kitchen that the condo had. This saved us a lot of money being able to make our own meals and not spending it all on eating out. With the extra money we saved we were able to do fun and enjoyable activities in the park city area.

The room was very nice. Since the pool is in the center of the hotel, the noise level would get a little high with kids playing but there were doors in the hallway that blocked a lot of the noise. The hotel is close to the bike trail and provides easy access to Main Street. We would stay there again.

Luxurious getaway in the mountains

Tourguide

We came here to celebrate our anniversary and absolutely loved the facility and felt pampered. My favorite aspects of this hotel are the beautiful patios adjacent to each room where you can look out over aspen and pine trees with views of the serene mountains. The entire resort is quiet and peaceful--even the swimming pool area wasn't too crowded with kids. We enjoyed swimming and the waterfall hot tub. Food at the hotel restaurants was pricey, but convenient and the service was excellent. Turn-down service was an extra plus--they clean the room for you twice in one day! Even the deluxe (least expensive) rooms are big and beautiful. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

Great location, impressive luxury facilities and accommodation.
Negative was that the ski-in ski-out was not available (ski-lift closed until Dec. 4th.) even so that was my reason to book that hotel.
Hotel staff was very efficient, gracious and most helpful and friendly. Highest marks of any hotel I have stayed for many years.
