Park City is a year-round resort town located on the Eastern
side of the Wasatch Mountains, part of the Rocky Mountain Range in Utah.
Probably best known for its skiing and winter season with three world-class ski
resorts- Park City Mountain Resort, The Canyons Resort and Deer Valley Resort -
as well as hosting the annual Sundance Film Festival. The winter offers great
opportunities for skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice
skating, snowmobiling, sleigh rides, tubing, shopping and dining. Summer
activities include hiking, mountain biking, road biking, horseback riding,
golfing, shopping and dining.
In 2002 Park City was a major host site for the Salt Lake
City Winter Olympics. 175 city volunteers contributed more than 6000 hours to
the Games, or the equivalent of 750 workdays (and this doesn't even count the
public safety volunteers). Long before Park City became a world class mountain
resort and venue for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, it was famous as a silver
mining town, and boasts a lively and colorful past. Founded by prospectors in
the late 1860's, Park City continued to mine silver until the early 1970's. The
mining company, Park City Consolidated Mines, started the ski business in 1963,
when they built the first lifts on what was then called Treasure Mountain.

We didn't have many days off to celebrate our anniversary, so we left SLC for a few days and enjoyed the beautiful little town of Park City. We were there during the off-season, so our price was very reasonable. I had also stayed at this Marriot multiple times for work retreats, so I knew it was pretty nice. To make the price even better, the staff bumped us up to a suite when they found out we were celebrating our anniversary. The suite was very spacious and comfortable, including multiple flat screen TVs, a couch, fridge, a jet tub, and an extremely comfortable King size bed. The only complaint I have about the room is the creaking floor boards in the room above us.
The staff was very helpful and friendly. It started to snow just before we checked out and one of the guys went out of his way to go out and scrape the snow off our windows!
The pool and exercise room were under construction, so they gave us a pass to use the pool at the nicer marriot up on main street. The exercise room had been moved into the atrium and a guest room. Strange, but it worked ok.
Overall we had a very pleasant stay and would recommend to someone who wants a nice place at a reasonable price.

Great locale with a full condo with the convenience of full time hotel staff. Super complimentary morning breakfasts, hot tub, fitness center and nice pool for the kids. Shuttle service to anywhere in town for dinners on Main Street, Park City, and at our convenience to the slopes is a real asset over other properties and more than makes up for the expensive convenience of being slopeslide. Have stayed in a number of Deer Valley properties and still like this one the best.

The room met all my needs for a 5-day stay. I knew I was getting a great rate so accepted some inconveniences. I did like that it was located right on the bus line (free in Park City!) and easy access to the town's largest grocery store.
After-hours check-in was a little bit of a challenge. They emailed me the codes to open the front door and strong box with my room assignment. However, they didn't tell me that the unmarked key was for the pool (didn't work there, come to think of it) and that I had to call the night manager to get the 7-digit code to open my room. It just could have been communicated a bit better. Still satisfied enough though to recommend for a low budget stay.

This property is managed by an organization that manages many other buildings. A guest must check in at a central building, then drive to another where the room is located. That may have been ok, but there was no staff in the lobby to help or to answer questions. When I got someone on the phone at the after hours number, he seemed unprepared to help me. When I arrived at the building where my room was located, the code I was given for the keypad to the outer door didn't work. I again called the after hours phone number and a man said he would come out and help me. It was a good 15-20 minutes before he arrived. The room was nicely decorated with comfortable beds. There was a kitchenette and the bathroom had granite counter tops. The deadbolt on my door wouldn't lock, but I slept well anyway!

This hotel has very comfortable beds, a must for me. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. It was my birthday trip and the staff assisted my husband with purchasing flowers and surprise delivery. We arrived late and the processs for checking in and getting keys was very easy. The rooms needed some updating and help with decor, and housekeeping but, was adequate. Close location for services and downtown shopping. We spent a wonderful day exploring the nearby State Parks, Utah's natual beauty is hard to beat. This is my fourth trip to Park City and still is one of my favorite destinations.

We spent 6 nights skiing in Park City. The room was outstanding...large one bedroom with two baths. The only issue (and it really wasn't an issue at all) was the appliances were very outdated. They all worked, but newer appliances would have made the room a solid 5+. Friends stayed in a two bedroom that was very updated. Ultimately, it didn't matter...the 20 year old coffee pot made coffee everyday, and the microwave like my grandmother had heated everything we put in it.
As for location, there were onsite ski lockers and we were a couple hundred yards from the first time lift where you could also buy lift tickets.
A great trip overall with one VERY MINOR issue. I would certainly stay there again.

went during worst snow in utah history. the hotel was great and my wife and 2 teens stayed in cottages. the cottages are great for family of 4 or less. the only problem with whole room was the lousy mattress on pull out... they could put a topper mattress to solve issue. otherwise staff, service and shuttle to and from hotel all 5 stars. although great service and convenient i would do ski rentals at ski resort if you are looking for better equipment.

It was a wonderful hotel with Ruth Chris Steakhouse on property. The only down side was the fire alarm went off in the spa area while we were checking out. The alarm is for the entire complex, not just the separate spa area and it was VERY loud.

A wonderful place to ski

This was a weekend ski trip. We really enjoyed the hotel and the Canyons for skiing. I would definitely recommend. The layout of the hotel is a bit confusing, but you get the drift of it in a couple of days. We did not use the ski valet service, but would have if we knew more about it at checkin. We were a little disappointed that the hotel would not extend our check out time by a couple of hours so that we could do a half day of skiing, but we worked it out by changing and showering in the mens locker room at the main pool. Overall a terrific vacation.

Good hotel with great location at the base of The Canyons. But TV's and appliances need updating. Also access throughout the hotel (e.g. - room to ski services or to ski valet or to lobby or to garage) was awkward to difficult.

Not what we wanted, don't recommend
- kdcarl
- Aug 6, 2011
We had reserved a one bedroom at another property because it had exactly what we were looking for but when we arrived there we were told they were full and we had been "upgraded" (bumped, in other words) to this one. Once we found the Lodge, got into the parking garage which was mostly closed for construction and then found the registration desk we got our room. Since my husband is disabled we have to have easy access, which this place does not; and once I finally got him and everything into the room we discovered that: 1) many items such as dishes and the TV remote were missing; 2) the jetted tub, one of the things I really want on my vacations, just sprayed water all over the bathroom and couldn't be used 3) the only working washing machine in the place was three floors down, and always in use and 4) our room looked right out onto the plaza of the lodge where there was a big festival going on all weekend so beginning at 8 each morning inflatable bouncy castles and such were blown up, and the very noisy activities went on all day and into the night. Since it was a weekend the problems with the room couldn't be fixed, at least that's what the one person in the facility told us. While the room was lovely, with all these problems it did not make for a relaxing trip, and I was very disappointed. If there isn't a way to resolve problems there is something wrong with the place. And since it wasn't even where we had reserved that made it even more disappointing!

We wanted to stay at a nice hotel without breaking the bank. This was exactly what we got. I requested one of the newly renovated rooms with a fireplace. It was a great room. Very classy! Kitchenette was beautiful, as was the rest of the room's decor. It was fully stocked with everything you could need. The beds were decent. Bathroom was very nice. The rock fireplace was a wonderful center piece. Flat screen tv, bar off the kitchen, plenty of seating, plenty of storage and design. the location is good, only a five minute drive from main street.
Now for the not so hot..
There are several buildings that make up this hotel. As we entered our building it was clear that people LIVED there. The smell and dingy look of the common hallway had us very worried before getting to our room. In fact the room across from ours was sporting a"wipe your paws" doormat...not a good sign. As mentioned above, once inside we were in a different world. For the most part. Above us, was a stampede or a matching band. I couldn't tell you what was going on up there, but it started early in the morning and involved running back and forth over and over again.
The bathroom was nice as I said, but it could have been great.there was a small area that needed a drywall patch. And they didn't provide soap for the 2nd sink. I don't understand why they wouldn't take care of these easy fixes. It would make a huge difference.
when all is said and done I would stay here again if the price was right.

Great Location
-
Skibum
- Mar 11, 2011
The Sundial is located only steps from the gondola base and right on the main plaza where the Canyons facilities are located. You can't get any closer.
The hotel is setup with very long hallways and the elevator banks are at one end of the hall rather than in the middle, so if you do not want to do a lot of walking, ask for a room closer to the elevator.
There are limited breakfast options at the Canyons. There was nothing in the hotel itself. Our room had a toaster and a microwave, so you could prepare a simple breakfast in the room if you bring your own supplies.
There also are limited dinner options, but we went into Park City for dinner every night, so that was not a problem.
Other than the limited dining options, the service at the hotel was great. Complementary parking (below ground) and ski check, outdoor hot tub and heated swimming pool, free wifi. Our room also shared a washer/dryer with the adjacent room. The staff was always helpful and friendly.

Good Condo, for the most part
-
TJ
- Apr 10, 2011
The condo itself was well decorated and very comfotable. Small problem with the satellite hook-up that was promptly fixed. Redstone is attached to commercial development with shops and restuarants and your doorstep. That was convenient, but also came with some noise (early morning garbage pick-up for business and some late night crowd) that was tolerable. My condo was actually over a business with the back windows overlooking the business avenue. These concerns may be less of an issue for larger units located off the main street. A garage is included, but you do not have use of a remote opener. Each time you enter/leave you have to exit your vehicle to manually open/close the garage door. However, I did not spend that much time at the condo. This property is located about five miles from Park City. Overall it was a great condo and a good value. The staff was helpful and responsive.

Great location, quaint character, fun place to stay if you want to be downtown and convenient to restraunts, bars, and shops. Our party of 7 all enjoyed April Inn. We initially had a problem with one of the sleeper sofas and called the front desk. They sent maintenance to check it out and they couldn't redily fix the problem, so they gave us an additional one room condo. Great service, thanks [...]! We will come back next year.

After 12 hours of travel, I went to the Caledonian Hotel lobby to check into the April on Main Inn, but no one was anywhere around. I spent 30 min. calling 3 different numbers, till a fellow reluctantly answered, & came to give me the room key & door code. I parked the car in the town garage 5 blocks away, hauled my suitcases up the steep stairs into the Inn's hallway, found my room, but NO ONE ELSE WAS THERE. My room was clean & set up nicely, except that the the street lamp directly outside the window could not be blocked by the wooden slats. There was no service, & no other guests. I was only there for 2 nights. I've been to Park City several other times, but this is not the place to stay.

Liked the underground garage especially since it snowed two nights. Walls are a little thin but plan to stay at hotel again. Will request the larger room type and the top floor.

Rooms were clean and comfortable. Location was in perfect walking distance to restaurants and shops on Main Street. Put on your ski boots and walk a few hundred feet to the town chair lift. We would definately come back on our next ski vacation to Park City.

Hotel was great but the lady at the front desk who worked Wednesday afternoon on Oct.21st was extremely unhelpful. I had never been to Utah so I was asking how to get to nearby Kamas. She corrected my pronunciation of the city, said it was about 30 minutes away and then put her nose right back into her computer screen. I was the only customer in the lobby. I didn't even see any other customers during my 3 day / 2 night stay, so I'm not sure what she was so busy doing that she could not be more helpful. Everyone else at the hotel was very freindly though. Lastly, the strict 10am check out was a little bothersome and created a slight problem for me. I really enjoyed the room and the location though.

Staff was great. Wished the property had a working resturant (coming Dec 2011) on-site. The Canyons had plenty of dinning options within walking distance. Location was perfect. Free public transportation into Park City was great. If you stay late for dinner and drinks in the city and need a cab the cab fees are not metered but negotiated. Umbrella Bar was a Great Hangout after a day of runs on the mountain. Staff was fun and helpful.

Wonderful hotel and great upgrade. The only problem was that [...] we had to pay an additional $20 per day resort fee. To me, a fee is a fee and should have been inclusive.
