San Antonio Hotels
San Antonio is the second largest city in the state of
Texas and 7th largest in the United States. Visited by more than 26
million annual vacationers, San Antonio is a beautiful city at the axis of
three different geological terrains: Hill Country, South Texas
Plains and Prairie and Lakes. There's a lot to do in this city: fine art
museums, historical missions and plenty of amusement parks in addition to great
dining.
San Antonio is considered to be the cradle of Texan liberty.
Its most well-known landmark is the Alamo, the site of the famous 1836 battle. No
other city in Texas reflects the state's Spanish and Mexican heritage like San
Antonio. The Hispanic atmosphere of San Antonio makes it a truly unique U.S.
city. This becomes most evident during Fiesta Week, a yearly celebration that
attracts 3.5 million people to its 110 plus events from all over to enjoy
parades, music, festivals, fairs and food and drink in the charming downtown
streets of the city.
San Antonio's downtown is the hub of the city's nightlife,
with hundreds of dining options, bars and clubs mostly on the Riveralk and
throughout street level. Other major nightlife locales include Southtown Arts
District, home to First Friday Art Walk, a large art block party with crowds
upward of 20,000 along Alamo Street. Scores of dining, galleries, theatres and
lodging options, that include more than 10 historic 19th century B&B's
adjacent to the Riverwalk.

I am a travel writer, so I am relatively picky. We were extremely surprised at how well appointed the hotel/room was and felt that while it is larger than a "boutique" hotel,it was like we were in a boutique hotel the entire stay. The restaurant is really great and guests get a lot of quiet attention. We will stay there on our next trip to San Antonio. Thanks for the tip and the booking. By the way, a pool would have been nice in the hotel, but the temps were in the 50's while we were there and if we had wanted to swim, we could have stayed at home.

Great staff. Wonderful concierge. Beautiful river view w/ Christmas lights, watching the river taxis/barges drive by as we sat in our hotel provided bathrobes on the spacious balcony! Room was no bigger than average hotels, but 100% better ambience. Maybe thought $32.00 a night for valet parking was "heaping it on" a little.

My wife and I celebrate our anniversary here. Upon arrival I was asked our reason for the visit and told this to the guy at the front desk. Later we were surprised with complimentary champagne and truffles delivered to our room. Only problem was the valet forgot to bring our car around and we had to wait 15 min. But when I asked about our car and they realized the mistake they rushed to get the car and refunded the valet charge without being asked to. Great service and a beautiful place to stay.

Overall, our experience at The Drury Plaza Hotel was excellent! The amenities included beat any hotel in the area. Our favorite part was the rooftop pool/hut tub with the city view. It was gorgeous! And the 5:30 kickback HH wasn't bad either. The staff was also very attentive and had great attitudes. My only complaint would be that the room was pretty small and had the smell of an older building (which it is). I would highly recommend the Drury. More for the money!

Came here for an academic event nearby. It is very near of the nice riverside walk, just in front of the Alamo site, and has a relatively small mall just crossing the street. The staff attention was also very good. I would liked to have a little refrigerator in the room, because they have ice machines on the corridors but turn them off after 10 pm. Anyway apart from that little detail, my overall experience was very pleasant (including a good number of margaritas).

This hotel really served its purpose. We were wanting to stay in a hotel that offered us a good walking distance to all that downtown San Antonio had to offer and this was the best. Everything was only minutes away including the Rivercenter mall, Alamo, and all the downtown entertainment. The rooms were a little small, but very nice. The hotel had a fun bar downstairs. The valet parking was a little pricey, but no worse than having to park downtown and pay per day. I will definitely stay here again!

That said, you need to understand that you are staying in a 103 year old hotel, so some things we take for granted aren't readily available. For instance, there is no fan in the bathroom. The water pressure isn't very good on the upper floors (I was on 6), so don't expect to take a bath. There are pipes visible on the ceiling. I accept those things as just the price of admission for a hotel of this age. The flip side is that it doesn't look like a four star big chain, and there's definitely some value to that.
Some of the decor needs repair; small chips in the tile or a missing bit of woodwork, but nothing that made me stop and say "that really detracts from the room". It needs a bit of a repair, but everything feels very real and authentic.
The staff was top-notch. The only problem I had was the maid forgetting to leave bath towels, and when I popped my head out the door and told a passing bell boy he dropped what he was doing and rushed to get me some. Everyone was friendly and courteous.
I only tried the restaurant for the breakfast buffet, but it was quite a good value and good quality.
I had read reviews with all kinds of horror stories, so I was a little concerned about staying here, but once I arrived I was very glad I had chosen it.

The hotel is not fancy but the rooms are clearn and the hotel is only about six blocks from the Riverwalk area. The breakfast provided is a little more than the normal Continential Breakfast at most other hotels. Here you can get a hot waffle also, fruit and muffins.
This is a good stay for the price.

The price was really a big deal, located two blocks from the alamo, breakfast included (not such a good one!), rooms are wide but kinda dirty (somedays it seems that the room was not cleaned, bed was not done), hair dryer didnt worked, toilette was clean but the room needed some fixing, roaches were just outside so you'd better dont leave any food on the room!! smoke rooms (the only available when i arrive) stinks and doesnt have ventilation at all!
Bus stops are all arround and mall and river at walking distance.

I read reviews about crickets before we booked . Dghtr in San Antonio said that crickets are bad certain months, and even in her hi rise office bldg. they had crickets. No crickets or bugs at all. Very clean room, spacious, staff very helpful, breakfast was good. And I had never seen a waffle iron that makes waffles in the shape of TEXAS, except for the one I own. Good location. Would definitely stay again.

It was a good stay. We had a very late check in and called around noon to let them know we would be in around 2am, lady at the front desk said it would not be a problem. We arrived at around 2:45 and the gentleman closed out the day and had us as a no show. Luckly they still had our rooms had was able to retrieve the reservation. The only other complaint was that it was 10 bucks for breakfast. Was not very impressed with that. Other than that, the rooms was very clean, staff was very friendly, rooms were had plenty of room for all 7 of us, and a very short walk to the river walk. We would stay here agen and recommend to a friend.

Hotel is a great location for the river walk, was happy there was coffee shop on ground floor, ok parking across the street close to the mall short walk to the alamo. Good room but we had a double queen room, it was too small for 4 people. Photos didn't give accurate size of the room, but location made up for it. Would I stay there again? Yes but only of there was max 2 people to the room since they were too small. More than 4 people? we would have to get another room or atay somewhere else. Bathroom was small too. Hotel folks were great.

The hotel has a perfect location if you are heading to Six Flags, La Cantera and Sea World...and the airport! Nevertheless, I didn't have a good experience because I specifically asked for a NON-SMOKING room...which, due to "special events going in in San Antonio during the weekend" was impossible to get. Anyway, we were offered a smoking room, which according to the front desk staff "is seldom used by guests" and it doesn't smell to smoke whatsoever. The room was tiny and it did smell like a smoking room (I was not expecting something different) but because everything in town was fully booked I decided to stay there (I completely was worn out after a long day of sight seeing and shopping). The surprise came afterwards when I realise the bed linen was not clean! (there were some died rose petals) I called the reception and asked the staff to change the sheets...the answer was "the housekeeper just left and I cannot change the bed!" (Whaaaat?). Anyway, I decided to go downstairs to the front desk and demand the change of the sheets! Finally someone went upstairs and change the bed linen.

The only issue we had was that my husband had a cup of coffee the first morning using the condiments. The used cup was not taken for cleaning, no new cup was left nor new refill of condiments. 2nd morning, he used the other coffee cup, and again no clean cups were left for the remaining trip. We expected clean coffee cups and more condiments. Water kept leaking in bath tub, kept the water running.

Offered us beverages as we were checking in.. fresh fruit brought to the room... fantastic spa for hotel guests. the rooms are large and well appointed.. the only disappointment is the old tube style t.v. still in use..should have been upgraded years ago.
Gorgeous roof top pool with lounge area.

The people who work here couldn't be nicer or more helpful! My only complaint in terms of value had to do with some cleaning issues (no resupply of used toiletries or vacuuming of carpeting). But everything else was top notch!

I'm not too picky when it comes to hotels and I usually never complain about things, but what kept me from rating this hotel a perfect score was the bathroom. It truly is tiny, TINY!. The door even rubs against the toilet seat when you go to open and close it. The bathroom sink is on the outside directly in front of the beds which is odd. Although the bathroom situation is a little odd, it's not enough to take away from the rest of the hotel. The room was clean and spacious. The room even has a lounging area, almost like a mini living room. The TV is huge (42") and the availability of connecting your own media to the TV is fantastic. You get a fridge in the room which comes in handy. The staff is extremely friendly. The fitness center is average. The pool was nice even though we never touched it. The hotel isn't on the main part of the riverwalk, but it's within a short walking distance of the main part of the riverwalk so you get the riverwalk view without the noise and the multitutes of people which actually is quite nice. It's close enough to everything in downtown though. FREE WIFI, PARKING, and BREAKFAST are all positive perks to the hotel. And the breakfast actually is a continental breakfast! Book here, you won't be disappointed.

This was our second trip to the River walk Area, great experience and excellent price. The hotel is located on the south end of the river walk area, and can get on the River walk right out the back door. We were upgraded to river side upon arriving. We were traveling with another couple so we had four adults, between the ages of 38-42. The room was spacious with two beds along with a separate couch and living area, the room came with refrigerator, microwave, and large flat screen that could be viewed from the beds or swung around to the living room area. The hotel had a very modern feel. The hotel also came with complimentary parking and continental breakfast. The continental breakfast had hot sandwiches, juice bar, oatmeal bar, waffles, fresh peeled fruit, coffee , bagels, dounuts, and cereals, more than enough to tide you over. They also serve some gourmet coffees, expresso and cappuccino’s. We will definitely choose this hotel again.
