I find it to be good enough in many ways. The carpet and the sofa were very old even though they were clean. Parking is reasonable in price and convenience. One thing is that the address shown on the website doesn't GPS to the hotel. If you GPS the address, you will be lost.

The Hotel Derek was nice, but I had booked a king room on this travel site, and somehow was placed in a room with two double beds. I didn't bother to straighten this out as I was too tired, but when I mentioned this upon check out, they blamed the travel site that it was booked through (this one).
There were a few things that weren't up to par- a reading light beside the bed was burnt out; the mattress was ok, not amazing; and the remote for the TV wasn't fully functional; and the TV itself was pretty bad quality; and the bathroom sink drain was clogged. All in all it was nice, but could use a little work on some of the details.

We had a layover in Houston. Since neither of us had been there before we wanted to see more than an airport hotel. So we booked in the Midtown area to have easy access to 3 locations to check out. One we could walk to from this hotel and the other two were accessible by the light rail a block or two away.
There appeared to be a lot of eating and drinking establishments within walking distance.
The hotel itself was clean, quiet and the staff was friendly.
Beware a cab ride from IAH airport to this hotel will cost at least $50.00 each way.

My work travel budget is restricted. I chose Hotel Icon because it is within walking distance of the Brown Convention Center and the Or--- reservation was far less expensive than staying at the Convention Center hotel or making a reservation directly with Hotel Icon. While the proximity of the hotel was perfect (20 minute walk), I felt uncomfortable walking around the neighborhood alone during daylight hours and would not do so after dark. My room's 3/4 bathroom included a shower alcove and thankfully I did not get any belongings wet from the resulting spread of water as there was no lip to prevent this. I was surprised that there was no maid service during my 2-night stay. The free wifi internet access did not work - my computer connected just fine but the service was so slow that even my email did not load. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. A tiny business center was available for printing out my boarding pass. The room's quaint decor was refreshing - an eclectic collection of antique and vintage furnishings. A big soft comforter and fluffy pillows helped me get a refreshing sleep, so important for business trips.

Hotel is very convenient to downtown locations. Convenient location to a lot of nearby restaurants. The hotel recently (July 2012) went through a renovation so everything is clean and fresh. Style of the hotel is eclectic but nice, has a luxury feel to it.
Complimentary coffee in the lobby is the best coffee I've had in a hotel, hands down. It's almost *$s quality.
Your experience will vary based on the room you get. The "entry" level rooms are very small, so I would pony up the extra money and upgrade the room a bit - that's where the real value to the place is. The beds were comfortable - I travelled with some colleagues and the feedback was the same - beds are good, but some didn't like the "hallway" feeling to the rooms and the bathroom being small (again for their entry level room).
The fitness center is pretty nice. No dip bars, and it only has an e-z curl bar, but beyond that you can pretty much do just about anything if you are into free weights. It has pull up bars, cables, free weights, treadmills, and some machines. Really quite a bit for the size of the fitness center.
There is no pool so bear that in mind if that is a requirement for you.

It really is a home away from home they provide you with stainless steel cooking ware and great kitchen appliances! And not to be left out, personal care are provided ( face soap, body soap, shampoo, conditioner and toothpaste), cleaning supplies (DW soap, scrubs, trash bags, etc).
Great staff, great location, accomodating and very welcoming. All this for the best of all GREAT RATE! You can't go wrong!

Clean suites, good beds, no problems. The parking is $18 a day tho, but it's secure/locked in their parking garage for safety. Great location, no problems. Wifi worked well, and free hot breakfast (eggs, bacon, waffles, juice etc) was fine.

We stayed at this hotel when we were in town for a funeral. Very conveniently located, close to 610 where all the restaurants are...very friendly, clean, comfortable. I had a wonderful weekend while I was in Houston visiting a friend. The hotel staff were very professional and helpful. The room was super clean and very functional with the semi-split room design. Granted this was not my first stay at a Hyatt Place, it reminds me that I will seek this hotel in future travels...

I love everything about this Hyatt Place. It's not super easy to get to, but once your there its great.
Faster internet would be my only request. It ranked as a C- on speedtest and was so frustratingly slow that I gave up on using it.

Every few minutes there was a loud knocking coming from the wall dividing the room from the bathroom. It was loud enough to think someone was at the door. It must be a water pipe or something in the wall.
I've stayed at this hotel numerous times and will continue to stay.....just not in room 224.

This hotel is very unique. Very neat decorating.. This is a great place to go if your planning on having a good dinner and spending time at the hotel, not minding to spend a good amount of money doing so. To me the prices for everything were VERY inflated just because you were at a Well known nice facility, Where other facilities offer the same thing at lower cost. The extras you pay to have, like your inroom bar, snacks in your room. Everything just seemed over priced. $45.00 for a half bottle of wine, which a bottle at the store is $24.00 at another fine dining restaurants is $45.00 for a full bottle. The small liquor single pours are $10.00. $5.00 for a box of candy. It is VERY targeted for the upscale cleints. The Valet is unorganized.. took 15-20 mins to get your vehicle if you didn't call ahead with your valet card number, So if you were eating dinner at one of the restaurants then desided to leave it will be a min. It does cost 24.00 per day to valet. There are no other areas near the hotel to park. Great very upscale hotel transportation which were very professional and helpful. The hotel transportation is an outside company not employeed from ZAZA. A lot of locals and other travelers come to visit and eat at ZAZA while not staying. During Friday/Saturday Nights the hotel is packed. The pool area is very clean. Great small cabana's with flat screens and wet bars are around the pools. Which are great if you want to relax and have drinks or if you have company with you.

We had a great time even with a few "bumps".[...]. Staff was very nice everywhere!!! At 2:30am we were awakened by a very noisy wedding party. After they never quieted down we did have to call and security took care of it very quickly. We had tons of fun and have planned our next visit!!

Everything was great at the hotel; however, there was an issue I had. There was only one high chair on the second floor and it seemed that a few families were irritated by that. Since there were three or four families with babies and no high chairs, my wife asked the staff , a woman who was busing the tables, and she kindly went to the manager to ask if there were more high chairs. My wife overheard the manager tell her he didn't have time to look for more and he had other things he had to do. My wife was upset. Put some more high chairs on the 2nd floor please!

Perfct Hotel for everything. The pillow top bed was confortable. The free coffee was the best smooth coffee because the Hotel used Wolf Gang Puck. The rooms were very spacious and clean.

The hotel is old but charming. The rooms are on the smaller side. I was in one room for the first night but the water in the sink in the bathroom was extremely slow to drain and after a shower, there was water all over one side of the bathroom.
The staff was very pleasant and they changed me to a different room for the next night. The second room was larger but the water in the sink, this time, would not come out a lot even when I'd turn the faucets on full.
The beds in both rooms were quite comfortable, though, and the staff was very helpful and friendly at all times.
There should be some warning, though, that parking at the hotel is very difficult and that the hotel charges $30.00 per day for parking, separate from the hotel room charges. It additionally charges $8.95 per night for a usage fee - the right to use the hotel's computer, for example, if one needs to print out a boarding pass, for example.l
A hot, buffet breakfast is included in the hotel fee but the food is the usual - cream of wheat, scrambled eggs (not cholesterol-free), bacon, potatoes, coffee and orange juice. The breakfast would ordinarily cost about $15.00, not including tip, for one person. This would be a little overpriced for what's served, in my opinion.
I was there for business and the location is downtown in the theater district. This is an expensive area of town but the location is excellent for business purposes.
I actually enjoyed my stay at the Lancaster, the overall experience was very good, but beware of the additional charges which should be mentioned to the public ahead of time.
I would stay at the Lancaster Hotel again, but hoping its plumbing would be brought up to speed!

My wife and I had a very nice stay at Omni Houston. The parking arrangement at the hotel was a bit unusual to us ($16/night for close-in garage parking), but perhaps this is commonplace at a hotel with restricted space available. Overall, very nice hotel to spend time near the Galleria area in Houston.

Rooms are nice, the decor is nice and I liked the gym. I would have preferred breakfast to be included like many other hotels, however I liked the way you could purchase sandwiches, salads and other food and drinks 24 hours a day in the kitchen area.
I was not expecting to have to pay a parking fee. There was a daily charge for parking.

The hotel is a standard Hyatt Hotel. The room is pretty nice but the toilet is only so so. The chief for the breakfast is very nice and he serves the best omelet I have in these few years.

Amazing new hotel in Houston - and gay Friendly

I came to Houston for a casual stay and had the best time at this hotel! The rooms are well decorated with the most comfortable bed i have ever slept on! As a Priority Club member, I was able to enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast each morning and a complimentary Happy Hour each afternoon. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Three of the staff (a cute guy named Ashley, a charming young lady named Sara, and Jorge the bartender) made me fell very welcome. I will warn you to watch out for one of the managers, though - I did no get his name but he seemed to be running the front desk (very rude in my opinion). Other than that, I would recommend anyone looking for a gay friendly hotel to stay here!

Close to some nice restaurants
The chair at the desk was notably comfortable--I was happily surprised that they put in the money to get really nice chairs.
The exercise room was not large: 3 treadmills, 1 elliptical, weights (maybe a stationary bike--I don't use them so I'm not sure) but it was surprisingly empty, so I didn't have trouble getting on a machine. They were in reasonably good shape.
The internet was not great, which is the only thing I would change.

ASK if they charge for parking. This hotel charged eight bucks a night. Also be aware there are TWO crown plaza hotels; this one is farther north off Kirby near the SW fwy. The other one is south near the 610 loop. Otherwise, the room was lovely, the help was very friendly, and I got a great deal of work done in my room. I would recommend this hotel again.

I have stayed at the Four Seasons chain for several years now. I usually go to the one in Nayarit, Mexico. It's a resort rather than a hotel and they never cease to amaze me. I had to be in Houston for a few days and I decided to stay at the Four Seasons. As soon as I stepped out of my car and was greeted by the valet I was greeted: "Welcome to the Four Seasons, Sir" and I knew I could expect top-notch service as I would in any 5 star hotel.
The doors were opened for us everywhere we went. Our bags were taken up and our car was valet. Standard for this hotel. The lobby looked great, but not the common "Grand" entrance in comparison to other Four Seasons hotels I've stayed at. I was processed really quick to get my room key. The lady walked me to the elevator explaining all the hotel's amenities such as the out-door pool (which unfortunately I did not get to try out due to the rainy weather), gym, and the italian restaurant. Very courteous. I went up the elevator and got to my floor, which as many have commented looks rather old. Not in a classy-old, but rather in a way that you can tell they have put off hotel maintenance, restoration, and remodeling. I stayed at a Hilton in post oak blvd in houston with nicer hallways/decor.
The room was nice, as I would expect. Very neat and great bedding. Including all the ammenities you would expect from a Four Season such as the sandals (his/her), the bathrobes, news paper, shampoo, conditioner, lotions, etc. By now we had our bags delivered by the bag service gentleman. The decor of the room was nice, but like I said, I have stayed at nicer hiltons. The Four Season should be in the same "playing field" as a St. Regis or a Ritz but the rooms are not even close. I don't complaint so much being that I paid about $170 for the night and $30 valet parking per day in comparison to $700 a day in the Four Seasons in Mexico.
The concierge was great they are very helpful in getting anything from reservations to exotic car rentals to pretty much anything you want. The food was great. I highly recommend the lobster pannini they have to share. It was great! Overall, the service was great, food was great, value was great. I would go there again but this hotel shouldn't really be called a "four seasons" until they heavily remodel. End of story. Still, I'd visit again
