Not stunning, but certainly a good value

Given the low price relative to other hotels in the area, the La Quinta South was quite a value. Everything important went well (pro!): the staff was friendly, the room was clean, the bed was soft, the amenities were as-advertised, the free continental breakfast was good and consistent. The cons were very minor...the hallway around my nonsmoking room smelled like smoke (though the room itself didn't), the fitness center had old, partially malfunctioning equipment (though it didn't seem like a lot of people were using it), the bathroom light was apparently connected to a really loud fan.
Overall, I recommend it for quality and value, but if you're the type of traveler that gets hung up on tiny details (like no Splenda by the coffee) you'll need to spend a little more.

I enjoyed the room and found it very comfortable. I had a hard time finding it, but was glad I did. I can't really blame the hotel. I found the roads in the area very confusing.

Room for improvement

I was given a room that someone was still in (not to the fault of the hotel but the occupant had trashed the place). The next room was clean but the bed was like sleeping in cardboard. The hotel is right next to a railroad track and in one night I heard a train go by 3 times. I've stayed in worse hotels and Extended stays are usually good, but this one is not fulfilling its potential.
