Just an ok hotel

It was a girls weekend and our double bed room was really oddly shaped. The comforters were stained and sheets did not look clean. I went down to the front desk and got clean sheets to make the bed ourselves. The bathtub did not look clean either so we got cleaner for that. The front desk help was awesome and while it wasn't the best hotel, it was decent enough for the price.

Nice surprise!

We were able to enjoy the New Year's Eve fireworks from our porch. Even with the noise from the town below, it was relatively quiet in our condo. However, the noise from the people above us was a different story. I am new to renting condos per night but I thought that the $25 cleaning fee should have meant more than just the move-out cleaning. I would have gladly paid for a daily clean.

Wonderful family getaway

While I was initially disappointed on the drive up to Laurel Inn from Red Light #6, Main Street, which appeared to be much further than the .3 mile on the Internet, I was truly pleased that the 67 steps down the back way to Main Street was so very easy and it was indeed close to Main Street. At first I envisioned the great steps to the Pyramids, but no, it was walk a few steps, and there was a level walking area, then a few more and a level walking area, proving to be accessible by most people, even my husband who has had knee surgery on both knees. Thanks for a terrific weekend. I will stay here again.

Great for a family getaway

  • Anais
  • Nov 26, 2011
The hotel is perfect for a family getaway, for more than just couple of nights. The hotel is far from Gatlinburg, but a lot better that what’s offered in town. The room had more amenities than I was expected. The view was excellent, and having your own balcony was definitely a plus. I wish the room did not have a musty odor, which prompted me to get an air freshener, as soon as I got to town. I hope they will do something about it.

This was a great location out of the noiseness of the center of the city but still within walking distance to all the attractions and shopping we wanted to visit. Hard Rock Cafe and The Atrium Pancake House were both very close and great places to eat. Room was very clean and affordable.

Serene and Peaceful!

Needing some time to "get away" and relax, this resort was able to offer just that. We went during the off peak season so it was somewhat bare but that was just fine with us! Those scared of heights may need an adjustment period as our small balcony was about 50 ft. above the land - and we were on the first level! We had to drive on narrow roads twisting up a mountain. The unit could use a little updating/repairing.

Great Family vacation

  • racing family
  • Jul 9, 2011
For a resort, there aren't a lot of amenities, but the location is just a short walk (down hill) to the Gatlinburg main strip. Yes that means it is uphill on the way back. Comments about the walls being a bit thin are accurate, but we weren't in the room enough for it to be too distracting. They did a trash run or something at 5 am every day that woke us up. The undergrouns parking was appreciated so that the car wasn't being backed in the July sun.

Overall it was a good place to stay. The location is great, right as you get into town. It's just really difficult to turn left onto the parkway when leaving. The room was pretty clean, not the classiest place but great for the price we paid. We could hear the tennants in the adjacent room at times but the tv tuned most of that out. Average complimentary breakfast. I love that it is a pet friendly hotel.

Best part of this hotel is its location. In the heart of downtown Gatlinburg but one street up off the strip. Still very quiet though. Hotel was good value to price. Room could definitely use updating and attention to detail with regard to cleanliness.

Rooms were clean and the prices were reasonable through [...], location was okay. The bed was worn down and did not sleep well. We ended up sleeping in the pull out sofa sleeper. The water pressure was so weak that it was hard to take a shower.

Great Value

  • Jun 26, 2011
My wife an I stopped in Gatlinburg for one night on our way to Nashville after spending a day in the GSM National Park. The check-in was fast, friendly and helpful (we were informed about the free bkfast, places to eat near by...). The overall appeareance of the hotel was very clean. Our room was spotless - the bath room gleamed - the carpet looked brand new. The mini microwave and frig were unexpected and really came in handy. The breakfast, although not gourmet and limited in varity, was very convenient, fresh and a great time saver. In this price range, I would say the Clarion is a great value.

Just ok

  • Janie
  • Apr 22, 2010
The rooms are very, very cramped. The place seems really dated. The way that the rooms are connected can make them very noisy if your neighbors slam their doors. The indoor pool is pretty small. The beds and pillows are the most uncomfortable that I have ever slept on in a hotel - and I am not a picky person about beds and pillows. Rooms were clean and decent location for getting around Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.

Upon arriving check in at 4 was crazy. It was slow and there were so many people checking in. It seemed a lot of customers were getting angry due to some mess ups. Anyway, you had to get in one line to check in and then go to another line to get your parking tag and that's where they get you......They want you to attend their timeshare meeting. Thank goodness I was only staying one night and could get out of it. Everything else seemed to go great. I was expecting hotel room but these were small one bedroom condos with dishwasher, washer and dryer.
