Comfortable and close to downtown

The hotel was comfortable, with a nice pool and 2 hot tubs (a bit too hot)available for guests. The price was very reasonable, especially considering that we were there during peak season. The hotel is close to downtown, but too far away to actually walk to any attractions other than the civic center. It was a nice change of pace from the noisier hotel areas by I-90.

Wi-Fi should be renamed Wee-Fi

The signal strength for Wi-Fi was so low you could barely access the internet. During the few times when a connection was made the connection would invariably break. I needed the Wi-Fi and this was one of the primary reasons for selecting the hotel. Was very disappointed with this.

This hotel is a little bit old and the rooms/building in general are a bit dated but they were clean and comfortable. The AC was quiet and worked well. The staff were friendly. The pool is huge! We didn't get the chance to swim since we arrived in very late but it seemed to be well used. The fitness center is also old but acceptable. The breakfast was good, many hot selections, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, waffles. There was also cereal, oatmeal (instant), yogurt, fruit, muffins, and toast. The breakfast was a great start to the day. I think it was a little overpriced for the age of the hotel, but overall a decent experience.

For the most part the hotel was fine. However, there was an odor in the room that was not pleasant. The best way to describe it would be maybe someone was smoking something other than cigarettes or it was some other substance. The smoke alarm cover was hanging from the ceiling.
As far as cleanliness... the sheets and towels were very clean and fresh. The breakfast bar was nice and the area was always clean.
The staff in the lounge were very friendly and efficient.

Our hotel room was nice the bed was comfortable. We would have liked to have sheets that were longer a little wider and covered your shoulders. A blanket with the sheet instead of the bed spread would be much more comfortable. Your close to everything in town and we liked that. If we ever need a hotel room again when we visit S.D we will definatly return to the Ramkota.

Amazing value with a great location!

We were very pleased with our stay at this hotel and would have given it a five-star rating (and I am a very picky traveler) if not for one thing: the thermostat on the shower in our room! It was very unpredictable and varied from very cold to very hot within seconds. Other than that, this was a fabulous value. The rooms were spotless, the beds very comfortable, the furnishings up to date and clean. The continental breakfasts were great and the hotel was also very clean throughout. We would definitely stay here again, although probably not in that same room! The location is very near to the mall and right off I-90 (but not where you will hear the traffic).

Nice place to stay. Good location in general, right by interstate exit and not far from downtown, but tricky to find the exact location, surrounded by other businesses.

The room was very small but it was fit for purpose. It was clean and the room service was good. Breakfast is very basic but ok. Handy to airport, Rushmore Mall, restaurants.

Only worth the Cheap Price it Cost

The staff was very helpful, but rooms were very small and seemed dirty and cheap. Iron stains burned into the carpet and overall just a dingy feel, not horrible for the price but probally others better for a little more. would only recommend if you only need a cheap room for the night not worth much money

Our original hotel said our room was flood and sent us to a different hotel (Super 8). We have stay at Super 8's in Rapid City but not this one. The Check in staff didn't seem to be interested in us as guests. We didn't have much contact with the with the staff. The only poor contact was the check in and the breakfast staff.

The hotel was updated and well managed. The front desk staff were friendly and especially helpful with our tourist site questions. They provided maps and a book was available with all the area's site brochures.
The disadvantage for us was its location. It was about 15 minutes outside of Rapid City, in the country. Nothing to do at night.
However, the hotel was very family and pet friendly.

Our room smelled and looked very clean. The bed was comfortable with nice sheets and pillows. The walls and ceilings are very thin because we heard more thumping than is usual and showers running.
The location was ok if you don't mind a little drive to the attractions. I wouldn't recommend location if you have kids, I would have stayed closer to the parks. This hotel is about halfway between Rapid City and Sturgis.
