Very nice hotel. Excellent location for walking distance to sites in Keystone. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Black Hills and Rushmore!

Room was fine. We arrived late and the office was closed. They had our key taped to the office door. The room smelled of incredibly strong moth balls.

Avereage, adequate facilities for overnight stay. Breakfast was skimpy and not well organized. Plan your activities away from the hotel and use hotel only to sleep. It is too far away from all the real attractions

The hotel was close to the boardwalk which was very very nice. Also, they played rock and roll from the 50's and 60's and it reminded me of when I was a child! I LOVED THE MUSIC!
The two things we didn't like about the hotel was they had compllimentary coffee but no half and half or cream only the little cream packets. Also, the pool was supposed to be heated but it wasn't. When this was brought to their attention, they looked and saw that it certainly was not heated and they turned it on. They should check this themselves instead of us telling them about it!

Very Nice Hotel!

The staff at this hotel are so friendly and helpful. The rooms were spotless, the furniture was nice, beds were comfortable, and the bedding looked new. The free breakfast was served in a large, attractive room, and was a full breakfast. We had no complaints whatsoever about this hotel. It was off-season, but there were plenty of restaurants open just 1 mile down the road in Keystone. I highly recomend this hotel.

Very nice hotel! It's has rustic decor, very in tune with the area. A few minutes from Mt. Rushmore and downtown Keystone. The staff was very helpful and friendly, giving us pointers for our trip. Very clean and efficient, we're very glad we stayed here!!

This is a great hotel to be in if you are visiting Mt. Rushmore. It's only a 10 min drive away from the monument.

was welcomed in a friendly manner upon arrival; the room was large and well appointed (fridge, microwave, etc). very good location for quick trip to Mt Rushmore and some attractions in Keystone (right across from the Presidential Wax Museum; speaking of which, even if this review is about the hotel: likenesses are iffy at best, the commentary about the individual presidents is quite interesting, though).
One comment about the directions given on the hotel's website: coming from Rapid City, they could be a bit clearer telling people they need to go off on 16A (which I had done by chance or instinct, as it were, but didn't say so on the website).
In the morning, you get free coffee (apparently all day long), plus such things as toast, croissants, etc, which is a nice touch; extras such as juice are very reasonably priced.

Description
Elk Ridge is set on a wooded hillside, half way between Keystone and Hill City, SD a short drive away from MT. Rushmore. The drive to Elk Ridge has breath taking scenery along a winding road. During the peak season you can hear the whistle of the 1880 Train as it travels between the two towns. You can shop at the one of the Christmas stores that are open year round or look for souvenirs,or antiques in one of the many shops in the towns Custer,Keystone or Hill City. So many of the shops carry items made by local artisians, from pottery to life size bronze statues.There is so much to do and see that at the end of your day visiting the Black Hills you can soothe your body in your private Jacuzzi tub shower combination and get a terrific nights sleep in our featured Sleep Number bed. Each bedroom has DishTV also, so you can catch up on the events of the day and the weather. Hot rod enthusiasts as well as motorcycle riders are welcome. We have a paved driveway for smooth access and lots of parking. It is a little tight for RVs though. Garage parking for your motorcycle or hot rod.Make the Black Hills your destination, not just part of your journey. You will love it..Open all year. Check-in is at 4 00 PM. Guests planning to arrive before or after this time must contact the property at least 48 hours prior to arrival to receive special check-in instructions. As a bed and breakfast property, the Front Desk hours will vary guests should contact the property to find out more information. Debacle at President's View

We were so looking forward to staying at this hotel, expecially the location. Beautiful view from the front overlooking the town of Keystone below. Unfortunately, the staff were very nonchalant, not helpful at all. When I had made the reservation, I specified a NON_SMOKING room. My address was incorrect on the reservation (I live in Michigan, not Montana). Getting that straightened out, we went to our room....the key didn't work. I walked BACK to the registration desk and asked for the key to be replaced. Went back to the room and opened the door and BAM!!! Smoke smell so strong it knocked us back out of the doorway. I went BACK to the desk and asked to be put in a NON_SMOKING room, as requested on my reservation, and were told that they didn't have any. Well, that didn't sit very well will my man,. they offered to 'spray' the room which never works. Asked to see the manager and had to wait almost 30 minutes for him to show. Of course, they had to juggle things around and we were given another room for that night and we would have to move to another non-smoking the next day.
So, looking forward to going to Sturgis and drive the beautiful roadways, here we are, sitting in our room the next day WAITING again for them to move us to another room. by now, it's almost 11am and we haven't been able to go anywhere or do anything. We spoke with the manager AGAIN and asked to be comped for a night but were told that we could have a free night next year. Felt like we were given the total runaround by this establishment. We weren't the only ones that this happened to, either. When we go back to Sturgis, we will not be staying at this hotel!

Our family stayed here one night to see Mount Rushmore. We paid a pretty price for a very no-frills room. We had a two double-bed room that was small (at best). The bathroom had a complimentary bar of soap, but no tiny shampoo, no shower cap. This is a tourist town, so they can ask what they want and get it due to demand. But I wouldn't stay there again. Perhaps I'd try Rapid City for a better room at a better prioe.
