Myrtle Beach Hotels
Myrtle Beach
Myrtle Beach is widely known for its wide beaches, large
selection of challenging golf links, and excellent seafood restaurants.
Attracting over 14 million visitors annually, it also has more miniature-golf
courses per square miles than any other place on earth. Myrtle Beach is also
home to over 120 golf courses and over 4 million rounds of golf have been
played there, a world record.
While the area itself may be referred to as the “Grand
Strand", this term is not simply limited to the city of Myrtle Beach.
Several smaller towns, including Briarcliffe, Atlantic Beach, Pawley's Island,
and Garden City in addition to Myrtle Beach make up what is known largely as
the "Grand Strand.”
During the high season the beach can be crowded and parking
scarce, but staying at a beachfront hotel can make for a more pleasant visit.
Never underestimate the beauty of the shoreline at sunrise, when the sands are
basically abandoned, the temperature modest, and the seashells have yet to have
been picked from the previous night’s waves.

The only thing that I have to complain about is some of the staff not very friendly. Oh and also I so not like that they have a pushy sales kins of person in the lobby trying to get you to go tour other places. Overall not a bad stay for the cost!

Was booked for three days, but was only able to stay one night due to death in family. That one evening and night was great. Ocean front room with balcony. Just a short walk to beach. Hotel staff was very nice. I was booked on the 12 floor and ask if I could be moved to a lower level and they were very nice to look and moved me to the third floor. Parking was great, right in front of room in covered parking deck. Will return again.

This hotel could definitely use some updating, BUT it wasn't a bad place to stay. We were only there for 2 nights, but if we were staying in Myrtle Beach longer, we probably would have looked for a hotel with something more. There was no hair dryer in the room, for a woman thats a little disappointing. I would have loved for there to have been a hot tub, but as I said we were only there for 2 days, so it was no big deal. Would definitely stay there again for a short trip!

The staff was very friendly and the rooms were very big but the hotel just feels dirty and the rooms need to be updated. We were worried the hotel wasn't open since there was contruction going on nearby, but the hotel we up and running. The day time staff was very helpful and quite pleasant. The evening staff was not very pleasant, but we didn't have to have many dealings with them. Breakfast was not extensive, but it was filling enough. The room was nothing spectacular, but it was clean. The room had a refrigerator and a microwave which we needed. We would definitely stay there again.

It was ok for the price. Nice location on the beach. Room service was not very good. They didn't get our trach the last two days and they never vacumed, the floor looked like the beach by the time we left very sandy. The door to the balcony would not shut the day before we left and they never got it fixed so I had to force it shut so it wouldn't be open all night. Im going to save up A little more money next year for a better hotel.

It took forever to check in to the hotel. During check in I was informed that my ocean front room was a side view and that it would cost $30 more than originally anticipated. When we finally found the room it looked like the bathroom needed to be swept and the room needed to be vacuumed. There was no soap in the room until I called the front desk. The balcony looked right into another hotel so everyone from that hotel could see right into ours. All pools closed early and we were not told to get out of the hot tub at 10p, The outdoors bar closed at 5p.

How do you like your bugs?
-
TiredTraveler2
- Sep 20, 2012
I had higher expectations given that other Day Inns have been ok, but the first night, I found that there were many bugs in my room. Unfortunately, it was 3 AM when I discovered them as I adjusted the air conditioner control. The next morning I complained and was promtly moved to a new room, which was a good thing - no more bugs.

Just returned from a 3 night stay. Room was somewhat dated but all the facilities were extremely clean. Staff was friendly and courteous. This is the second time we have stayed at this resort and would definitely return. The only complaint was that our room was located next to the elevators and the noise was extremely loud and disruptive. Other than that - there is nothing negative to say. Nice place overall for the money.

Decent stay

Decent stay with great location and amenities. But their version on an ocean view room and the Internet were different. To them "ocean view = partial ocean view". They call their ocean view a "oceanfront view", which is different than the internet and it cause confusion when confirming our room at check-in. However the service was really nice and they quickly made the adjustment and we had a very nice stay!

I enjoyed the location and the condo was a great size. I have just two complaints...1) the room was not very clean the dishwasher was full of dishes there was a couple old french fries under the table and it just looked like it needed a good cleaning. 2) The so called "king" size bed was two twin beds pushed together and i kept falling in the crack between them. I even woke up to a numb arm because it was stuck between the two twin beds. So basically my fiance and i ended up sleeping next to each other on two twin beds which was strange and not what I was expecting! Overall, though we had a nice time and we will be bringing the kids back with us next time.

Staff were very friendly in all encounters. Great oceanfront location, rooms just need some updating and attention. Air conditioner was a little noisy and would turn on/off about every two minutes, which made sleeping difficult. Decor is late 80's tropical, which some people might be in to.

This is our second time at Ocean Reef. We love the tropical atmosphere and interior decorating. The breakfast buffet was a great value and very tasty. We were on the 12th floor, ocean front and the view was awesome! The beds were comfortable, plenty of towels and very clean rooms. They even provide laundry facilitites for guests to use. The only wishes we had were that they would serve lunch on a daily basis either in the restaurant or at the outside grill and provide a media-business center or desks in the rooms with computer outlets. Other than that, we give this hotel resort an A+ and we will return!

One issue of concern
-
Mr.Bruce
- Jul 17, 2011
Hello,Regrettably I am writing this to you to address an issue we had on our recent visit to Captains Quarters. During the week of June 19th, my family reserved a room [...] for a suite with an ocean view. We did receive the accommodations per our request but was displeased with the room service or lack thereof. Albeit that on the first night, we did get in late, we did turn away room service for the next day and only requested towels. On Tuesday morning, my wife was feeling ill so again we had turned away room service but requested just a change of towels. However, on Wednesday, the room was not cleaned, no beds made and the towels were just left within a bag outside the door. Upon our return on Thursday evening, again the room had not been cleaned but the beds had been made. What we discovered was that the bed linen had not been changed, even though the beds were made. We know this to be fact since there was left over Cheerios within the bed. Naturally this would have not been there had the linens been changed. Friday we had gone out for the day, again to find that there was no room service. No beds changed, no carpets vacuumed, no towels exchanged. My wife called down for room service which they finally arrived. They had to sit and wait by the pool while the maids attended to the room. After they finished, we returned to the room. The beds were made and towels exchanged. The horror was that when we turned down the beds, we still found the same Cheerios!! Five days and still the same bed linens we had started with!Naturally this necessitated a call down to the front desk to speak with a manager. We were told that the Hotel Manager would speak with the Housekeeping Manager and this Manager would come up to speak with us about the situation and get it rectified. This did not occur. No Manager made the attempt to speak with us! Two housekeeping attendants did arrive. I told them that we need the beds changed. One said, and I quote, " I thought that I had made this bed already." (This was the one we had turned down to verify if it had been changed), which she had proceeded to make-up. I informed her that we do not want the beds made, but CHANGED. This did not sit well with them and they were both annoyed that they had to change the linens on the both beds. Not only is it very disturbing that the bed linens had not been changed for 5 days (albeit the 2 days we declined), but that towels had been left outside the door, the room not even vacuumed, but that no Manager even attempted to talk with us and apologize. The only apology we received was from Tiffany, who answered the phone at the front desk! I shudder to think that these linens could have even been from the prior tenants!I will close by mentioning that regrettably we would probably not return to Captains Quarters and would suggest that more attention should be made to your room service staff.
