Myrtle Beach Hotels

Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach is widely known for its wide beaches, large selection of challenging golf links, and excellent seafood restaurants. Attracting over 14 million visitors annually, it also has more miniature-golf courses per square miles than any other place on earth. Myrtle Beach is also home to over 120 golf courses and over 4 million rounds of golf have been played there, a world record.

While the area itself may be referred to as the “Grand Strand", this term is not simply limited to the city of Myrtle Beach. Several smaller towns, including Briarcliffe, Atlantic Beach, Pawley's Island, and Garden City in addition to Myrtle Beach make up what is known largely as the "Grand Strand.”

During the high season the beach can be crowded and parking scarce, but staying at a beachfront hotel can make for a more pleasant visit. Never underestimate the beauty of the shoreline at sunrise, when the sands are basically abandoned, the temperature modest, and the seashells have yet to have been picked from the previous night’s waves.

This is a very good hotel and would stay there again. The only bad thing was that the housekeeping staff did not come around on Sunday to get the trash or to give new towels so we had to go find someone to get them from. It was really nice to be able to sleep with the door open and listen to the waves crash. Hope to get back there soon. Need to be able to use the hot tubs and pools after 10 cause alot of people don't get to unwind till after that.

I enjoyed my stay at the Crown Reef. The room could have been a little cleaner, (there were stains on the walls) and the beds were not that comfortable but overall it was pleasant. The staff was great and so was the location.

My experience at this hotel was wonderful. The hotel was off the beach, it had a lazy pool, 2 other small size pools, and a hot tube. The rooms were updated, which made this hotel very comfortable. While I was there, I enjoyed the hot tub, the quick access to the beach, and the drinks offered at the hotel. The only thing that could have made my stay enjoyable, is complimentary breakfast and onsite parking. Really their is no comparison because this hotel was affordable, nice on the outside and inside. Usually if the hotel is affordable it looks terrible and old in the inside. Nice!!

In All Honesty...

I'm writing this review from the perspective of someone who took in everything into consideration when I reserved this room. The top of my list was Budget, Cleanliness,Location. I will start my review on the things that I liked most about the hotel.. The location was great- although my room was a side view (which meant stepping off the balcony to see the wall of the hotel next door) the hotel all together was right on the beach... When I stepped off the pool deck- there was sand. That was very important to me. The beach was nice, close, and clean. The room was although small- had everything. The bathroom was clean, the kitchenette was clean, the room was cute and quaint. Perhaps Im a stickler for details but I notice small things- the sheets were wrinkled and although they appeared clean I was concerned that perhaps housekeeping was taking "short cuts" and just remaking the bed after different stays. Some of the pictures did not look like what is pictured on the website. Lastly what they DON'T SHOW YOU- is what a flipping NIGHTMARE their parking is. The picture shows a beautiful building which it was- but it doesn't show the ground which there is an underground garage going under the "resort" it has about for spaces- it was VERY TIGHT parking ( don't attempt to take truck or minivan down there ) . If its busy you'll have to park "across the street". Which I did not like. That alone made my husband not want to stay there after this trip. The lobby looks very nice on the website pictures but it looked shabby in person- some curtains were hung unprofessionally and very tackily over the bar and were used to hide garbage or junk. Down in the parking garage that you have to walk through the access the beach/pool there was piles of junk, furniture, counter tops, couches and other garbage piled in the few parking spaces they had which just looked bad. The hotel employees were OK, nothing to "Wow" you with though. I was given a long long list of rules by them to follow during our stay which was a little ridiculous stating all the reasons you might be "nickel and dimed" for if you don't follow them. But for what I paid for the room I would stay again at THAT price but I would pay more to stay there because I believe there are better places that are a little cleaner with better parking.

The hotel was nice and clean with a mini fridge and microwave and balcony. Right on the beach with several pools, some of which were shaded which was great for avoiding sunburns. Our friends brought their 3 year old daughter and she had a blast. Very kid friendly place. Several restaurants nearby and parking in a garage is included. The only problem I had was noise. The walls seemed very thin and you could hear people shouting in the hallways and talking in the room next door, but otherwise great deal and nice family vacation spot.

The staff was very friendly and very helpful. We had difficulty communicating with some of the household help because they didn't speak English. Breakfast was well done; food was good and the staff worked hard to keep the tables clean and the food stocked. Jody of housekeeping and Sabrina of food service were very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping was a bit careless in letting the doors slam in adjoining rooms in the morning. Otherwise, we would gladly stay here again.

We arrived after 4 pm to enter our room to find it Empty of Beds , only frames in the floor with a room prepaired to be painted and NOT Rented, wall socket and burners on the stove where all missing removed. Drawers pulled out and sitting in the empty bed frames. after a quick phone call and a short wait the management did come to us with another room that was ready. however a lack of maintainence checking on the turnover workers completion of a job and and management not doing a walkthrew of rooms that are suppose to be ready, AND WHERE NOT shows some below performance standards. The Hotel was so close to perfect but it was not on the beach as we had hoped in fact the room we where given was in a third building across the road. In light of this Our Stay was GREAT the hotel was VERY NICE, what we did not learn was the heated pool in the fornt hotel was also availabe to us since it rained the day we where their. we still manage to have a blast and the free breakfast we recieved for the room Mess up was Great.

  • Apr 17, 2012
The location was awesome. We had a room with a balcony on the ocean and was very impressed with it. The rest of the hotel was average. The toilet was temperamental. We had breakfast in the restaurant and it was a buffet for $9 per person and all you can eat. Would probably stay there again but may look around at others too. The price was pretty fair for the location and balcony overlooking the beach/ocean.

My review of Ocean Forest Plaza

  • Bill
  • Dec 30, 2008
Ocean Forest Plaza was very comfortable. Checking in was very easy and the staff was friendly. Our suite was clean and well stocked. The sofa and chair were not very comfortable, but we spent little time in the living area. The parking garage is not easy to manuever in a larger car. However, outside parking is available for some vehicles. The location is very good, and the beach is easily accessible. Many good restaurants are nearby.

I didn't arrive until 2:00 am due to airplane delays. Your staff was extremely helpful and courteous. My wife and I have stayed at your hotel before and I had to go to Myrtle Beach by myself on business. I found the service and cleanliness just as great as it was when we stayed in October. I will be coming back. Thank you so much, everyone was so friendly and I appreciate that.

This is a very unremarkable Myrtle Beach Hotel, but it served it's purpose nicely for New Years 2012. The beds were uncomfortable, the TV was old and small, they didn't clean the room while we were there and there was hair in the tub and toilet that really grossed me out.

I would assume the area around this hotel is more lively during peak season but the first weekend of November there is NOTHING open after 10pm anywhere near this hotel. The hotel itself is what you would expect from a 3star hotel: ok beds, small bathrooms, and ok service. Nothing special but nothing too bad either. Recommend for a cheap get away or maybe it is better during summer months?

  • May 3, 2012
My experience at this hotel was below average at best. The room wasn't clean when we arrived and after our first night's stay, our room wasn't cleaned the next day. For the money paid the hotel isn't worth it. I will not stay again. Not sure if my room was affected by going through this website. I hope not because I liked using this website. The hotel needs to step it up. It doesn't deserve to be titled a resort.

Suprise

Ive visited MB quite regularly. This time I was in for a suprise. I booked the PG without paying close attention to the "pet friendly" theme it carried. The staff was great as usual. We got checked in and immediately noticed an abundance of hair in the blanket on our bed. Im sure being pet friendly is a positive for some but not for all. It left us wondering how clean our room really was and what else we would find. Our stay was pleasant despite the over abundance of dogs in and out of the hotel. We would have preferred a zero pet policy however. There was also candy bar wrappers in the night stand from the previous guest. The price was great but next time, I will certainly be on the look out for the pet friendly listing of hotels at MB.

Location was super. But traveling with small child, location chosen not ideal. Too noisy at night time. Rooms run down pretty bad. But doable after self sanitizing. No maid service. Fresh towels only delivered once. But it was adequate for a sleeping room.

The hotel was descent. The rooms look the same as the photos on the webpage. Would have been great but we was put in a room that was not non-smoking and the walls were paper then. When we checked in the music was blasting next door. By the time we unpacked the hallway was full of the smell of [*]. We requested non smoking but no luck and caused my son to have an Asthma attack the next day. We were awaken at 3am by our next door neighbor's girlfriend arguing about her boyfriend stealing her money because she smoked his[*]. She called him a [*] and started fighting. Another guy kept yelling STOP!!!! STOP!!!!Sounded like they were coming thru the wall and my kids were terrified, including my mother. I called the front desk and they said they were on the way upstairs now. They came up immediately, knocked on the door saying "Guest Services" and then after a few slamming doors. Everything finally calmed down. Other than that it was good until we went downstairs and realize we missed a great breakfast. The Hostess yelled at us and said BREAFAST IS OVER ITS 10:00. Excused me, I said I didn't know since I saw so many people going upstairs with the most deliscious Belgian Waffles, Big and fluffy. [...]. I would stay again.Orbitz was great at reserving the room.[...]

This is Our New Go to PLACE

  • Upstate Traveler
  • Nov 11, 2011
This was a great place, looked like a new hotel. The rooms had kitchens which we didn't need, but was great to have in case. It was a family weekend, my sister's family was a last minute addition, we asked and received a joining rooms. It was great, having that door connected to the rooms, saved on running all over the hotel. (Which in the past has been a problem.) The only item of issue is the $14.00 resort fee. What is that about it was just a hotel, I didn't see anything that classified it a RESORT. This is used by a lot of hotel to tack on additional $$$$. I factor the fee into the price of the room anyway. This is now our go to place, we are planning a return in March.

Diappointing location

  • disappointed
  • Aug 9, 2010
Location was next to a "Gentlemen's club". Not a place I want my children to ask questions about. My wife was upset the entire weekend about this. Not a good time. Room was clean and I have stayed at other Country Inns, so I was disappointed by this location.

Nice for the Price

The hotel was clean, bed was pretty comfortable, but certain front desk staff were rude, and didn't seem whatsoever enthusiastic about accomodating me when I arrived. I would rate this as an average stay for me, but I doubt I would book here again.

Friendly employers and staff. Maid came & cleaned our room. We had ocean front effiecency double queen beds on first floor. Pros: Easy beach access(1min walk), very quiet at night, plenty of parking, rooms were comfortable, wi-fi available, and rooms smell clean. Cons: Kitchen outdated, shower head is about 5'8" high, carpet is not the cleanest. Our view from the window/balcony is large hot tub/jacuzzi w/ the ocean in the background. Depending on your budget and your wants. Price was comparable to others around us, though some looked worse shape than our hotel. Checked reviews on this & was found close to reviews.

My husband and I enjoyed being able to get away to the beach and stay in an oceanfront room for such a reasonable winter price. We had a Deluxe 2 queen bed room and it was perfect for our stay. About 1/2 way between Barefoot Landing and Broadway at the Beach, it's easy to get to wherever you want to go in Myrtle Beach. Would love to stay there in the summer, but will probably be out of our price range at that time! We are going to check out the condos, however, and see if we can get some friends to join us and split the cost.

Had a wonderful view of the ocean from 14th floor, balcony was small but fine for two people. Rooms haven't been redecorated or redone since 1975, free breakfast was ok, it's clearly a family budget hotel. clean, comfortable. Access to the beach is great. off season rates are good for what you get. staff was helpful and polite.
