The hotel is very nice and accessible. A lot of restaurants nearby and a 10 minute drive to the zoo and the state museum. I was a little disappointed with the breakfast bar in that the selection was not great, but it was reasonable. We stayed in a double room with 2 double beds, (for 4 people), but there were only 2 washcloths and 3 towels left in the room by housekeeping. The front desk staff quickly provided extras but you would expect the correct number of towels, etc. for the accomodations. Overall a very nice place to stay and the staff was very polite and helpful. I would recommend it to anyone coming to the Columbia area.

Easy access from highway and price was great for a 2 night stay compared to other local hotels. Hotel was close to restaurants, fast food locations, and stores. Distance from Army Base Gate was perfect, very little traffic compared to other gates. I would recommend this hotel as a great place to stay for BCT graduation, due to price and location. The staff are friendly and breakfast is free.

If you are going to Ft. Jackson this is a great location. Rooms are clean, staff was nice. It did take a long time 25 minutes to checkout.

Good stay except ... the extra door lock

The location was good since I was only in town for my son's graduation from basic training. The room was clean and they serviced the room while I was out. I'd read that they didn't so I felt I should point out that my experience was different. Helpful staff. My luggage was delayed and they were very good about updating me. The free breakfast was typical. The waffles were hot and fresh. I would have liked a yogurt or non-wheat based cereal option because of my food allergies. There was fresh fruit so I had that and coffee. My one concern was that my door inside latch lock was broken. Since the other locks worked I didn't request another room. The hotel was booked anyway for graduation. I'd ask the hotel to please make sure all locks are in good working condition.

Went for BCT graduation. Decent hotel, not the best area. Not really much going on close around had to go to other area of town for restaurants, entertainment. The continental breakfast was a bad joke, stale donut gems!

While the hotel itself was ok it is in a location that would be described as less then picturesque. It sits right next to the highway and traffic noise is dominant. The wifi was awful so don't expect to be surfing the internet at lightspeed. Most of the time I couldn't connect and when I did the speed was slow and it took refreshing the page to get it to load. I will say it was cheap enough but there were other hotels in the area (a friend stayed at another) for very near or at the same price.

I was in town for my son graduation from Fort Jackson. The hotel wasn't far from the base. The service was fine, and the price was good for a three night stay. Overall, I was pleased with my stay.

This place is past it's prime

I traveled to Columbia South Carolina to see my son off to Kuwait.
The employees at this hotel leave much to be desired. The evening clerks are young kids who have no customer service experience beyond checking you in. The day staff is older and actually not much better.
I reserved a smoking room and had no ashtrays, when I inquired at the desk I was told they had all been broken and they didn't have any. The next day I asked housekeeping and had 2 within a matter of minutes.
The hotel itself is in dire need of a facelift! The rooms are a mess! The shower/tub was disgusting... old and moldy. I wouldn't walk on the carpet barefoot and I bought a sheet to wrap in because the sheets were grey and dingy. There were holes in the wall where the headboard had been replaced with a smaller one and still had the pencil marks for what I assume was leveling purposes.
The exhaust fan in the bathroom couldn't be shut off ran the whole 5 days I stayed. The hallways were a disgrace.
I never even considered going down for the breakfast buffet, based on the condition of the rest of the hotel I couldn't imagine how food was stored. Luckily there was a fridge and microwave in the room so I bought my own food and instant coffee.
They have no business center so you cannot print e-tickets if you are traveling by air.

the public restrooms were very dirty.the hall way carpeting was nasty and stunk. the bathrooms need to be gutted.the countertop was falling apart the grout around the tub was cracked. My bedspread had a hole in it and the pillow had hair on it.

We were only staying one night. Received Masters tickets (Augusta, GA) at the last minute and needed a hotel. Everything was full in Augusta or wanted two night stays. The hotel was very nice and quiet. Enjoyed a good night's sleep. If I have one negative - We came in around 8:30 PM and needed dinner. Hotel resturant wasn't able to handle a busy night. Food took too long to get and didn't get the bill right.

We were in Columbia for the Troy University vs South Carolina game. Easy check-in. Room was great. Hotel is within walking distance of The Vista. Hotel employees were very helpful. Overall a great trip.

The hotel was ok. Towels were scratchy but if you dont like that bring your own. It was an ok stay. The major complaint i have is the hotel is only half used. there is 2 buildings and the one they dont use is all boarded up and looks very run down. The building they do use looks half way decent. I had to defrost the fridge. It was so frozen over drinks in fridge wasnt even chilled. I have however stayed in worse but if need be I would stay in this hotel again. It is near a walmart and several gas stations and easy to get on interstates.

I would not stay at this particular hotel again. Even though the staff was very friendly, the hotel had a lot of "night" activity going on. The room was not clean and when we asked for a clean blanket for the room they would not take the dirty one out, telling us to just leave it for the housekeeper the next morning.

The hotel is undergoing a face-lift on the exterior.
I stayed with a friend for 5 nights while commuting to the Masters Tournament. For a couple guys that don't need any frills, it was just OK. The price was right. My major complaints were; the towels were as rough as sandpaper, and the pillows were in desperate need of replacement. Other than that it was livable. I would pay a little extra for a better hotel next time.

just needs some updated rooms and service, the room smelled funny and the people hardly spoke english, the only thing i can say postive about this place is they let me keep my bags there untill i got out of my meeting so i guess it kinda of help me since i didnt have to tote my luggage around...LOL

First off the motel is located on a back road but at the same time close to shopping centers. The rooms themselves were pretty small but had a fridge/microwave and an iron w/ ironing board and the bed was comfortable. Very clean hotel both inside and out. I would definitely stay there again.

The Hotel was very clean, had everything that you needed inside, and a very good price, but the walls are very thin, you can here everything that is going on in the rooms around you and all the conversation that are taking place outside, we had a horrible stay, because the fire alarm went off between 4 and 5am that morning scaring me and my kids to death, we had to hurry up and get dress and head down stairs to get out, only to met by other guess, down stairs to tell us that it was a false alarm, something to do with the waffle maker.very bad experience.

The service was awesome. The room was wonderfully decorated and very clean. I thoroughly enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi. The hotel is just off the highway and minutes from The Vista.

Stayed at Marriott to attend Dietitian conference. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was a bit small, but clean and comfortable.

Came to Columbia to see our grandson graduate from boot camp at Ft. Jackson. Columbia Marriott was ok but the maids were terrible. We had a 3 day stay and I had to call 2 of those days to get linens. No wash clothes, 1 hand towel. I asked if they had a shortage on linens!! One evening the restaurant just decided to close. No warning. This place was not for us. We will not stay here again. The only thing going for this is that they have a great location. We went to the Museum of Art across the street..great. Places to grab a bite right across the street. The front desk people and valet service were very friendly but don't expect much for your room. They put us right where the elevator opened and listened to that all night. There was some convention with a million teenagers all yelling in the lobby all the time. I don't think we will be staying here again.

Just hung out and got to spend time with my honey. We got there and the reservation we made was for one bed and when i checked in they were out of one beds and gave us a room with 2 in it. the sink had a hole in the side of it that needed repair. the microwave you had to mess with it in order to get it to work. no coffee pot no iron\ironing board no hair dryer. When the hotel staff cleaned our room they took the dirty towels and didnt replace with clean ones and didnt refill the toilet tissue. I had to go downstiars and ask for them. In one of the drawers was a couple shirts that was left by previous renter i guess. i enjoyed my time with my honey as always we didnt let that affect our stay but it was very crazy and we will not be renting from that hotel again. ohhh the staff behind desk was nice.

We arrived late and proceeded through the easiest check-in in the history of check-ins. However our room had an undesirable smell and the toilet did not flush. We were moved to a superior room right away, which was clean, and nice. We slept soundly and rose early to leave. Despite the first room experience, it was actually very pleasant.

We were in Columbia to see our son's grad. from basic training @ Fort Jackson. Got to the hotel fairly late & just wanted to get some sleep. This obviously is NOT a 4-star hotel, it barely qualifies as a 1-star. The room looked ok at first but we were right next to the ice machine on one side of the door and a pop vending machine on the other which made for a lot of noise every time their refridgeration kicked on. We even unplugged the in room refridgerator for the same reason. I would not recomend using the microwave either.
Thankfully we didn't need the air conditioner as it had visible mold just inside the vent and was falling off the wall.
The fan in the bathroom could wake the dead!!!! The shower head wasn't screwed on all the way, good thing I noticed before turning it on.(one thing I took care of myself)
There were a few stains on the walls but no visible bugs as I had heard is an issue in the area.
It was definately not a comfortable stay! For a room booked in avdvance, they would know how many people are going to be there and should put enough coffee makings in the room as well.
As it was, we booked 3 nights and only stayed there 2. We stayed in another hotel one night with our other family that was VERY nice.

I am very disappointed in the room we stayed in at the Super 8 Motel. There were roach bug's in the bathroom and probably in the room where we slept too. Also the wallpaper was peeling bad and the carpet was worn out. And for their complimentary breakfast it was some very strong coffee and a bagel. Could not locate a ice machine anywhere. My husband and I were just glad we only had to be there during the night for the most part. We went there to see our son's graduation troop at Ft. Jackson. It was the first troop he had trained as a drill sergant and was so proud. And so were we. Also alot of traffic noise too.

I was at the army base most of my stay for family day and graduation but everyone at the hotel was very nice. Had a fantastic stay! Location was great also.

we went to the graduation at fort jackson is about 15 min away very clean and quiet .
