Beautiful old hotel. Staff is very friendly. It was our second time staying there this year. First time we were upgraded to a suite which was lovely. This time we had a room in the newer part of the hotel. The room was very nice however it was a little noisy. We were awakened very early by the guest above us pacing back and forth on a squeaky floor.

The staff was great, they even upgraded us to a suite with an ocean view at no extra charge. The bed was very comfortable, bathroom was very spacious, had 2 tvs with good channels to choose from. The breakfast at the restaurant inside the hotel (we also had a beach view) was great as was the service. Loved the roof top jacuzzi and fire and being about to walk across the street to walk the beach!

First off, I stayed at the Historic Building because the Suites were full for the 4th of July. The hotel is in a great spot (right across the street from Easton Beach which is a great beach). The check in process went well and they were nice enough to arrange an early check in when I called in advance.
The room (a single Queen) was smaller like some people have said about the Historic Hotel, but it had a microwave and refrigerator. To me that made up for the size, althought the small space between the bed and TV/chest of drawers is fairly rediculous.
The bathroom was nice and clean. It was remodeled, but you can tell that the work was pretty touch and go. The tub was not installed correctly and made noises under your feet all over. But it was clean so it did not really bother me. One additional thing, the pillows are wicked soft and really not luxurious at all. The bedding all could have used some upgrading.
One thing to note about all of the Historic rooms (to my knowledge anyway), they all have small windows. Even if it says ocean view, it is not like looking out of patio door or french doors. They are standard house windows that are more for light then anything of a view. If you want a view I would suggest the Suites.
The parking charge is nominal and seems fair. The lot had enough spaces that it was easy to get in and out.
I had originally planned to watch the 4th of July fireworks from the Suites building roofdeck firepit and jacuzzi. Sadly, I quickly realized that the "roofdeck" is not really on the roof. It is set down from the roof on the side closest to Easton Pond. Watching the fireworks there was nearly impossibly because the actual roof of the suites building was in the line of sight. Not a huge deal, I went to FT Adams instead where they launch the Newport Harbor fireworks. Was probably the best place possible to watch the fireworks.
Overall the hotel was nice and the staff was friendly. We did have an issue with the power going out for the tv, frig, and microwave, but it was not a big deal. I would recommend the hotel for a place close to the beach.

Great location, walk to restaurants, stores. We had a 2 bedroom suite and it was great, parents had a separate bedroom and bathroom, my husband and I plus kids stayed in master. Kitchen and dining room were nice and roomy. Great spacious room overall. We stayed 2 nights, room service skipped us for no reason, we asked for late check-out and had a NO as an answer, cleaning lady was knocking on the door at 10 am sharp! Stuff was a bit cold and unprofessional. We were happy with the amenities and location, yet stuff needs better training or salaries

This hotel was perfectly located for sightseeing and dining around the Marina area of Newport. We were pleasantly surprised when we saw our apartment as it was significantly bigger than expected. 4 of us stayed in a two bedroom place which was more than comfortable and sufficient room and utilities to eat in. I will definitely stay again.

Staff were kind of cold, and luckily I had the names of the person who assured us that we could change the room to just one night from two, as they claimed we had cancelled all when we arrived. But they acccomodated us ultimately though not with good cheer!
The apartment was good value though, and it was a prime view of the harbor. Adequate comfort and cleanliness, the location and view of Newport Harbor were the best things about it. Kind of noisy either in the room above or down on the dock late that night. Overall would go back.

Clean and comfortable room, although rather small and somewhat dated. Hotel has a restaurant and is right next to all the Newport piers. Walking distance to all Newport (town) restaurants, etc.

We stayed for 3 nights/4 days over the Columbus Day Holiday. The hotel wasn't cheap but the ammenities,location, and quality were inline with the cost. The staff was eager to please from the bell staff to the wait staff in the restaurant. The view of the harbor from my room window and the hotel's central location was worth the cost alone. This was my 10th visit over 30 years and it was the best. You can go cheaper..but you only get what you pay for.

Room was clean. It is a "homely" type of place. The hotel was right on Thames street which is the main area to be. The only negative was that you had to park in a parking lot across the street and had to pay for that separately. Though the hotel it was at a discounted rate of $19.00 per day. Friendly staff. And no complaints. I would go back and I would recommend it to a friend so long as they weren't fussy.

Just off the waterfront. Clean. Staff exceptionally friendly. Parking off street but very tight. Quiet time of year so when we mentioned it was our anniversary, they upgraded us to townhouse with fireplace - very nice. Good value for money if you want more than just a motel room.

At the Newport Bay Club and Hotel, a non-smoking resort, you'll find luxurious accommodations in our Suites and Townhouses including a full menu of amenities. All Suites and Townhouses have either one or two private bedrooms, and all have a queen size pull out couch in the living room. All bedrooms have one queen size bed-none offer king size or two beds in one bedroom. All units have a large living room with dining area, a kitchen with microwave oven, and a tiled bathroom. Our weekend stay was what we were expecting. A nice place to sleep. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The location was near all the amenities. The only problem, which was no one's fault but Tom Bodett's, also it was quite funny, We put in a wake up call request for 7:00 am. The phone rang, Tom said that it was my 7:00 am. wake up call. The only thing was that when I went down to the lobby to check the time, (the clocks were turned back that night) it was only one o'clock in the morning. Everything was entered correctly, we figured that turning back the clock had to effect the program. The desk attendant apologized, and we had a good laugh. I will use them in the future.

This Motel 6 is listed as being in Newport, RI. Technically it is but is better described as very near Newport. The room was clean and the staff friendly. Towels were small and scratchy. Although the second floor was listed as non-smoking the floor smelled of smoke as did the lobby. If you are looking for a room with a bed, toilet and television near Newport and don't want to spend much money this is your choice.

The breakfast was the best, made fresh and a wide variety for all tastes. The room was very nice, with the jacuzzi and fireplace. Quaint but all the modern conveniences. The only downside was the location - not close enough to sites for walking.

This place was fantastic! We went On feb. 12 for a romantic getaway. Price of room was unbeatable! And we only wanted to stay somewhere that had a jacuzzi tub. Breakfast the next morning was amazing! So yummy! Also the place is in a great location- we took an hr walk the next morning and just looked at all the amazing homes and shops. Would def stay there again. In fact we liked it so much we are going to sell our house and rent an apartment in that area!

Wonderful staff! The place is gleaming. It is in the perfect location. Our beds were so comfortable. The serve yourself breakfast was generous and the hot from the oven afternoon cookies were delicious. Free parking!
Our room was loud as our windows faced a parking lot and a restaurant. We asked for a fan to combat the noise and it was in our room when we returned. That was the only issue, so next time we'll ask for the 2nd floor, street facing. It was a lovely, unique place--full of history!

We stayed in Newport overnight for the Newport Music Festival. The place is cute but they don't overdo the jail-house thing. The place is small but not tiny. Our room was big and clean. Nice bathroom. Parking. WiFi. Great downtown location with many restaurants and attractions in walking distance. The view looking out the back of the hotel was not great and there was a pipe sound every once in a while.

I planned a trip to Newport, RI for my 2nd wedding anniversary and found this Inn and it seemed like a great value and a great location... it was! The building is very unique and the staff was fantastic! This place is only a few minutes walk down to America's Cup and Thames, you can't beat it. I highly recommend this place.

We had a very restful, enjoyable experience. The staff was so warm, friendly, and helpful. The only negative was the noise. We stayed across the hall from a family with a young child that would cry at early hours of the morning. The location was perfect to walk to many attractions and restaurants.

in Newport for leisure and relaxation. Our room was on the 3rd floor and was quiet and peaceful. Furnishings were used -couch was worn and bedroom set was a bad attempt at whitewashing- shower barely spit at you and there were ants.There were missing electric baseboard heater covers and the door to the bedroom in the suite didn't close??

Hydrangea House Inn, c. 1876, was constructed by the noted Newport architect, Dudley Newton. Newton built homes mostly in Newport and was famous here for the Newton Roof. This property is recognized by the Rhode Island Historical Society for its architectural details and uniqueness. The inn was completely remodeled-redesigned in the winter of 2004 and 2005. Located on historic Bellevue Avenue, the property is approximately 30 miles from Providence and 70 miles from Boston. The Attwater Villa was built in 1910, before any of the larger hotels of Newport with a unique location which is central to all activities. A lovely stroll down to the waterfront will unveil a host of homes that date back to the 17th Century. Only one block away is the Tennis Hall of Fame and the beginning of the famous Mansions. Located directly behind the Villa and also within walking distance are scenic Cliff Walk and the beach. Check In is at 2pm to 8pm Monday thru Friday and 2pm-5pm ONLY on Saturday thru Sunday. Children are welcome in certain rooms accompanied by parents at an additional 25.00 USD per day.
Cancellation Policy - Reservations may be canceled fourteen (14) days or more before the actual reservation date. There is a $25.00 fee for
cancellations.
If a room is canceled less than fourteen (14) days before the actual reservation date, a credit, minus the $25.00 fee, may be used for a future stay.
A credit will be issued ONLY for the portion of the reservation which is reserved by a new party with no loss to the Inn.
The advance deposit guarantees to both the guest and the management the entire period reserved.
A 50 percent deposit is required for all reservations at time of Booking.
* Two Night Minimum Stay on weekends (Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday).
* Three Night Minimum Stay on Special Event and Holiday Weekends.
