Girl Scout Leader Forever
- Dec 28, 2012
I took a group of Girl Scout to the Courtyard Marriott to "practice" for our upcoming trip to Europe and to do some planning. The hotel staff was super friendly and helpful right from the start. The front desk person found us 3 rooms together, offered suggestions on dining options, and even gave the girls some ideas about what we could do on Thursday morning and offered a map with directions for locating them.
The rooms were spacious enough for all 12 of us to meet in one room for planning. And I know some of the girls really enjoyed the pool.

It's a nice hotel. Not chic and just a little out of the thick of it, but still walkable. Beautiful water views. Staff in restaurant was nice but better food is easy to find in this area. Rooms are comfortable but starting to feel a little dated.

Great Philly Overnight Trip!

- Dec 27, 2012
The Hotel staff was awesome! The décor was eclectic and fun! It was so convenient to have a restaurant and bar and a quick meal kiosk right off the lobby. The roof top wine bar was a great place to chill after touring the sights of Philly. The location could not be more convenient and the city views were fantastic! The only suggestion I could make was the addition of a reading light by the bed. There was only one bedside light and it illuminated the entire room. I would highly recommend the Monaco!

The location of this hotel could not be any better. Right across the street from Reading Terminal Market and the Convention Center, and within walking distance of public transportation to anywhere else you might need to go. My wife and I stayed here for a half-marathon event in Philadelphia and were incredibly pleased with the friendliness of the staff and the comfort and cleanliness of the room. While compared to the expensive hotels nearby (easily $100 more a night than this one) this hotel might be a 3 star, it is an exceptional value and way better than many other 3 stars and 4 stars I have stayed in.

Good Value For Money

Overall, this is a place offering good value for money. The room is fairly standard but comfortable, especially the beds. Bathrooms and amenities are standard. Television could be much better, channel selections are way too limited. Room service was average. Location is very good and service is friendly. I would stay here again, especially when the rates are as good as they have been recently.

The rooms are small but practical, with no frills. The bed was reasonably comfortable, the walls are pretty soundproof, and I felt safe. I don't recommend it if you are going to be around the hotel a lot (or if you have kids)... but if you just want a place to stash your stuff while you're out on the town exploring Philadelphia- this is the economical option for you!

Bed and Breakfast in Center City, PA

- May 29, 2011
Took my son to Philly for his birthday. The room was clean and well decorated; however, at $250.00 per night, I felt it was over-priced. The room was very small (reminded me of Bed and Breakfast). The location was good (historic district), but had to park in garage two blocks away for $18.00/per 24 hours and drag luggage down the street to hotel. The surfaces in the room were also a little dusty and the side table near the chair was wobbling whenever you tried to put something on it. In addition, the air conditioner was not working very well. There are no real amenities in the room. There was a bottle of water provided but you would have been charged $3.00 extra if you drank it. I brought my own drinks and got ice downstairs (much cheaper). TV only had about 20 channels, so there was very little to watch when we came in for the night. My son spent most of his time on the internet when we were in the room. (cable provided to plug into your laptop). The complimentary breakfast was scanty. You could "upgrade" if you wanted to, but we went out to breakfast at a restaurant instead. I might stay there again due to the convenient location. If you are traveling with children and need more amenities, this might not be the hotel for you.

A nice but unusual hotel - an old buiding transformed within its shell with a smallish, but a comfortable room. A sliding door to access the bathroom was a bit strange. It actually got stuck in a closed postion needing a call to the front desk for help. Fortunately, I was on the right side - the bedroom! With no telephone in the bathroom, communication could have made for a serious problem.

Great value, good location if going to the airport. I was going downtown though so the drive was a little rough in the AM. Friendly staff, fast WiFi, good TV channels. However TV was way up high on a closet and hard to see without hurting neck. Otherwise a decent stay.

Very personable staff, attractive and comfortable rooms, good modern updates--first class bathroom, plenty of lights, great breakfast. We liked the location. We walked to restaurants and the Lantern Theater for a performance, walked to the parkway and the museum of Art, but did not pose by the Rocky statue.

The Aloft Hotel is a neat, modern hotel that provides an excellent value for around 100 dollars. The rooms have high ceilings, big screen tvs mounted in wall and are very clean and roomy. The staff is very friendly and the lobby has a bar and has plenty of areas to hang out.
The only negative might be the 7 dollars a day for parking.

Smoky room

BJzz
- Oct 7, 2012
Arrived at hotal on a friday night at 8:00. There was one person at the desk- very busy night! She did her best but it was a wait that I did not expect.
Room was terribly smelling of old smoke -I cannot understand why the cleaning staff would have let that room be used!!! Also did non have king bed....We called and got another room - non smoking and king ( as originally requested.) Desk person was very accommodating as busy as she was.

The staff, especially the manager, did everything possible to make this a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The location in central town could not have been better. The cleanliness of the room was top notch. When I go back to Philadelphia I will stay at Morris House Hotel. The price was also very good. The M, Morris House Restaurant, was superb. Friendliness is the byword at both the hotel and restaurant.

If you want a place that isn't a chain this is a great hotel. Neat old rooms with classic door. Feels more like a b&b than a hotel. Would recommend this place to friends.
