Great view from deck overlooking valley

We were in Hazleton to see some old friends and decided to stay at the Hampton Inn. Service at this hotel was great. Have always enjoyed the breathtaking views of the sunset from the back deck and outstanding meals at Top of the 80's Restaurant.

The room was really clean and quiet even though it was ground floor near an elevator. The valley views are spectacular. The deck is great as is the breakfast. One tiny quibble is the smokers on the deck. Beautiful scenery, but I wish they'd light up elsewhere! Other than that, this is a fabulous hotel, and I'd recommend it.

The free wireless internet was awesome. The rooms were clean and modern and comfortable. The amenities were nice and there was a nice restaurant right next door that delivered to the hotel. It was a good experience.

While manager was very friendly and very eager to please, the general building itself (outside of the main lobby) was in need of some TLC...
It was not a particularly hot day, which is good as the AC could not figure out whether it wanted to freeze us out, or allow room temp to get to just barely uncomfortable warm temperature.
Room itself was acceptably clean, though the non-wrapped cardboard cups, seemed to be dusty - may have been a while since a guest used them?
Hot water was either scalding hot, or chilly, and seemed fluctuated several times while showering... pressure itself was good..
TV was old, and speakers were on their way out.
The local ice maker was broken, and had to go to the front desk for ice... Which of course the manager was extremely friendly and courteous to fetch some from some back room ice maker...
I didn't attend the breakfast - so have no comment on that...

To begin with, the key cards to my room did not work and I had to stand in the steamy hall waiting for a staff member to open my door. The room was quite large enough for me, the fridge worked well, and the bed had a new mattress which was very comfortable. However, the dead bolt on the door didn't work, and the bathroom lights were probably burned out since there was on light in there. Since I arrived after 7 in the evening, the restrauant's food left much to be desired, the pasta on the steam table was soggy, as was the green vegetables. It was not a pleasant meal, and the price made it even more unpleasant. Since both times I stayed there, I was working, and didn't have time to search out better dining facilities, I must tell you that in general I felt the cost versus amenities just left to much to be desired.

Description

The hotel/motel did not provide a do not disturb hanger and when trying to sleep in we were disturbed by the staff. When we asked them to return a little later to clean the room, they left towels but didn't come in to change the linens. When I approached the manager he said only that the staff were gone for the day with no apology at all.
The front desk person was friendly and offered insight to the area. He was kind enough to give pointers on nice areas to move to as we were planning a move to the area.
The location was perfect. Easy access to main roads and ease of finding places to eat and attractions to see.

The hotel and rooms were clean and very modern. It had a stove, microwave and full size refrigerator. The stay was excellent. Definitely will stay here again.

The room was above average and roomy. The kingsize bed was very comfortable. The sofa bed was a bit uncomfortable. It was a bit small and the mattress was thin. (It's okay for kids but I wouldn't want to sleep there)
Everything else was A+ We enjoyed the outdoor area and played several games of volleyball. The gym was nice and the kids enjoyed the pool.
I would have rated this 5 stars if the sofa bed was comfy.

plesant surprise for the budget traveler

I travel with some frequency, and often the only difference between a $75/night hotel and a $175/night hotel is a hundred dollars. But when you get into the realm of $50/night, things can get scary. But this motel was a very plesant surprise. The wi-fi was blazing fast and easy to use, the room was clean, warm and pretty, and you could tell the entire building is maintained by someone who really cares. The lady at the front desk was terribly nice.

this was quite ok. The only thing that was missing in the room was a chair for the desk (ouch!) although there were two armchairs. Quiet place not at a major road (important to me!).

No working electrical outlet anywhere in the bathroom. AC worked for about 10 minutes and quit. Check in time was different than advertised. Granted, we were allowed in the room 1 1/2 hr earlier than advertised which was nice. Rags around the AC to keep out outside air. Heaters and kleenic dispenser were rusty. Sink drain didn't work. Stayed in the area another night and paid $17 more for another motel. It was sure worth the money for the other motel. A micro wave was advertised, but no micro wave.

We stayed here for a wedding. Everyone on the staff was extremely helpful. The rooms in the Lodge were beautiful and pleasant. Unfortunately it rained while we were there so we did not get to enjoy the location as much as we might have. A trip to Jim Thorpe made the stay even nicer.
