I stayed one day, did not use the amenities really except a good (and costly) room service meal. I was in a ?superior? room (an upgrade) and I found it comfortable and quite large (by NY standards). Not blown away by the hotel but comfortable enough that I would return. Very close to major subways & amenities which is a big plus.

This is our second stay at the Empire and it was as lovely as the first. Initially we were allocated a room on the second floor which proved to be very noisey as we had air conditioning units outside, but as soon as we requested another room it was done - and we were no longer disturbed. The staff and concierge were all very helpful when booking tables, needing info etc. My only gripe would be that although the bar is suppossedly open until midnight, we were turned away twice at 11.15pm and told the bar was closed which was disappointing. Other than that, the hotel more than lived up to expectation.

while not on the avenue (it's on 77th btw b'way & amsterdam), the staff is pleasant and helpful, my room was well designed and comfortable, a great location in the upper west side. Easy to hop a bus or train to travel anywhere in NYC. Walk to the American Museum of Natural History or NY Heritage Society.

I stayed at the Belleclaire for 6 nights for business. This is a great location that is within blocks of 2 subway lines or you can easily catch a taxi on Broadway. Many restaurants are within walking distance and a food market is just around the corner. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful as well as the concierge and door man. Since I was in NYC for a week, I appreciated the small refrigerator in the room as well as the free wi fi.

We were attending a wedding on the upper West side. We went to the Internet to research hotels because we were not familiar with them. Found a nice price with good reviews, and were well pleased.
What we found was a compact, older New York style hotel, that had been nicely renovated. The rooms were tight but not extremely so. Bathroom was small but had recently been completely updated.
We took the train into New York, and the subway up to the hotel. Access to times square was a simple subway ride away .My wife and I agreed that we would go back there if we ever needed a New York hotel.

it can get almost every famouse views. but the room is too small, lacks freezer. the elevator should be renovated, and it seems that it can break down anytime.
