Nice hotel on UES

  • CMvM
  • Dec 23, 2012
The Bentley is a nice, clean modern hotel on the UES. The 62nd Street location is perfect however be aware that it is 6 long cross-town blocks to Central Park. Our room was very spacious but lacked a few basic staples such as a pen and wine glasses. We didn't drink the wine from the mini-bar but if we had wanted to we would have had to use the cups from the bathroom. Correcting simple oversights like this would make the Bentley an extremely attractive place to stay considering the reasonable rates.

A Xmas Weekend in New York

  • Buddy Best
  • Dec 17, 2012
Good Hotel. The room was clean. Absoluitely no view: they put us in a room a back of Hotel, but I was a "one-nighter", so I didn't care. Staff was nice and obliging. Emily wanted a massage on short notice (on a Saturday, yet) and they obliged--for $286, which must be a new world record. On balance, it was a nice experience, although I prefer the Regency (which was not available, or priced out of sight).

Fantastic hotel in awesome location

  • chicagosurfer
  • Nov 29, 2012
Beautifully appointed rooms, spacious, lots of storage space, bright and airy. Free internet. Nice electronic blackout blinds. Very stylish public areas. Staff really friendly in an authentic way. Location just a block from Central Park is outstanding, plus in Upper East Side it's away from the tourism hubbub, but still good restaurants and shopping nearby. It is a few blocks to a Starbucks though!

First visit at the Surrey

  • Chris N
  • May 22, 2012
The Surrey is a first rate hotel. My suite, (which I did not request but was delighted with) could not have been nicer. Staff was very responsive. Concierge really helpful. The rooftop penthouse bar was a pleasant surprise and a nice view. The only less than excellent experience was the overpriced and under whelming french restaurant "Boulud" connected to the hotel. I would not recommend it.

Girls trip to New York

  • Jan 3, 2012
Wonderful staff! Professional, pleasant, helpful, and personable!!!! Love them all! Wish we had more time to enjoy the spa as it looked fabulous! Our room was nice with a wonderful bed! The carpet in our room was in need of a more thorough vacumning as along the edges of the bed and furniture were not particulary clean. Ate in the hotel restaurant one morning for breakfast and it seemed understaffed as we waited quite a while for service and food. We only saw one waitress working. I enjoy diet soda rather than coffee in the morning and my soda was flat. I would go back to the Surrey for the customer service!

Nice Uptown Spot

  • Bay6hr
  • Dec 27, 2012
We had a good stay at this hotel, our only regret was that we weren't aware that there was a pool so we did not have our swim suits. It is located in a nice area but the walk from the subway -6 blocks- is a bit much. We were able to find plenty of good places to eat around the area for a decent price. The room was nice and clean although it lacked a fridge but clearly had one at one point. The bathroom was clean and the noise level was almost non-existent. It has a decent view and the staff was friendly (although there could have been a second person during checkin/checkout time).

Only 3 stars -- but certainly newer, cleaner, tech friendly than other hotels on the east side. Rooms are a good value compared to the older hotels -- but have to walk a few more blocks east. The pool is one of the best.

The lovliest little hotel on the UES

  • I heart New York
  • Mar 21, 2011
The Franklin is a charming and romantic hotel located on the upper east side. The staff could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. I called to confirm my reservation and mentioned that it was our honeymoon and we were upgraded to a larger room at no charge! We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast each morning with various breads, meat & cheese, cereals, coffees, teas & juice. The staff even let us store our bags since we had a late evening flight the day we checked out. The subway was so close and we enjoyed being within walking distance to Central Park & Museum Mile. The Franklin is a place we will recommend and stay at again and again.
