The bustling heart of Manhattan, New York, is a maze for different tastes and budgets to investigate.

Things to see in Times Square

The most famous intersection in the world is the meeting place for Broadway, Seventh Avenue and West 42nd through West 47th streets. Top attractions include entertainment destinations like Radio City Music Hall, “The Great White Way” and the Ed Sullivan Theater, home of David Letterman's and Stephen Colbert's TV shows. Here are some of the Square's highlights…

The Hard Rock Cafe

Diners can rock their senses with food, drinks and memorabilia from great rock-and-roll legends like Led Zeppelin, Elvis Presley, Nirvana and The Beatles. Modern artists are also represented in this 708-seat restaurant, while the 1,800-square-foot Rock Shop is the place to pick up souvenirs, and private events can be booked for the outdoor dining space above the building's marquee.

Megastores

New York City stores in Times Square include M&Ms World at 48th Street—a chocolate-lover's dream world—and Toys R Us at 45th Street, where Lego constructions of Tyrannosaurus Rex and other Jurassic Park dinosaurs delight visitors. The Disney Store provides kids with trademark Disney magic, including interactive magic mirrors and movie clips of classic animated films.

New York Public Library

Located just east of Times Square on 42nd Street, the NYC library boasts the famous lion statues Patience and Fortitude at the entrance to the ornate Beaux-Arts building. Bryant Park, which abuts the rear of the library, offers a French carousel, art shows and festivals throughout the year, as well as the HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival.

Broadway

The world's most famous theater district, Broadway's 40 venues with over 500 seats each serve as a barometer of theatrical success. New York visitors can save money by getting tickets from individual theater box offices, or at the Visitors Center in Times Square.
