What travelers to Times Square are saying

New York was a great experience for us Floridians. The Rocefeller Center and the Top of the Rock was great we really enjoyed the views with little to no wait at all. We also absolutely adored Central Park. The beauty and peacfulness of the park was incredible and a great experience. We loved eating at Cafeteria and Mac Brenners however we would never reccomend that somebody go to Beauty and Essex(it was aweful.. Loud, bad service, average food). Times Square at night was amazing and breathtaking and an experience everyone should encounter. And last but not least I actually enjoyed the subway train, it was cheap and got you to where you needed to go and fast at that. For a family of four at $2.85 per ride per person it definitely beat a $60 taxi ride with all the traffic in NYC. New York was great however its great to be back in Florida where the sun is shinning and the layers of clothing do not exist!!!!

We spent alot of time in Central Park, Tavern on the Green, Museum of Natural History, Spirit Dinner cruise, Radio City Music Hall, Blue Man Group on Astor Place, Penn and Teller Show, 911 Tribute, Rockafeller Tower, and a short walk in times square. This was our third time in New York, our first non-business trip. We also took our grown teens. They said a visit was fun, but they wouldn't want to live there-unless they could build in Central Park. I believe this would be a great romantic place (picnic/bike ride/carriage ride in central park, an evening kiss on Top of the Rock at sunset, a romantic dinner at a number of the FANTASIC Italian Fine Dining Places, and buying some flowers at one of the corner markets.

It's my first time here and there are endless things to do. I should have planned for more time here. I love Time Square and the area around it, so much fun. Don't do the Hop on Hop off bus, a waste of time and money. It seems like a good deal with just $39 for 72 hours, with lots of free stuffs, but unless the traffic is good (hah, NYC traffic), not many people buy ticket (lots of people do), and you have to plan your time wisely, it's much better to use subway (for 1 or couple) or cab (if you have a big family). Anyway, I had a great time at NYC and will come back again in a few years.

Feel the beat of Manhattan’s heart in Times Square

Times Square is famed for its digital billboards, New Year's Eve celebrations, grand Broadway theaters and dazzling neon lights. Pulsing crowds make their way through the square 24 hours a day in the city that never sleeps, walking to catch a famed musical, conduct business in the financial capital, or eat along Restaurant Row where global establishments stand side by side. Ranked as one of the world's top visitor attractions, Times Square hosts dozens of famous sites, historic buildings, movie and television shoots, and nearby hotels and amenities of every stripe. The bustling heart of Manhattan, New York, is a maze for different tastes and budgets to investigate.

Things to see in Times Square

The most famous intersection in the world is the meeting place for Broadway, Seventh Avenue and West 42nd through West 47th streets. Top attractions include entertainment destinations like Radio City Music Hall, “The Great White Way” and the Ed Sullivan Theater, home of David Letterman's and Stephen Colbert's TV shows. Here are some of the Square's highlights…

The Hard Rock Cafe

Diners can rock their senses with food, drinks and memorabilia from great rock-and-roll legends like Led Zeppelin, Elvis Presley, Nirvana and The Beatles. Modern artists are also represented in this 708-seat restaurant, while the 1,800-square-foot Rock Shop is the place to pick up souvenirs, and private events can be booked for the outdoor dining space above the building's marquee.

New York City stores in Times Square include M&Ms World at 48th Street—a chocolate-lover's dream world—and Toys R Us at 45th Street, where Lego constructions of Tyrannosaurus Rex and other Jurassic Park dinosaurs delight visitors. The Disney Store provides kids with trademark Disney magic, including interactive magic mirrors and movie clips of classic animated films.

New York Public Library

Located just east of Times Square on 42nd Street, the NYC library boasts the famous lion statues Patience and Fortitude at the entrance to the ornate Beaux-Arts building. Bryant Park, which abuts the rear of the library, offers a French carousel, art shows and festivals throughout the year, as well as the HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival.

The world's most famous theater district, Broadway's 40 venues with over 500 seats each serve as a barometer of theatrical success. New York visitors can save money by getting tickets from individual theater box offices, or at the Visitors Center in Times Square.

Climate information and best time to visit NYC

Temperatures in New York City are seasonal, but with each variation comes fresh appeal. In the fall, comfortable temperatures and holiday decorations transform Times Square into a wonderland. Spring is magnificent with fashion shows, outdoor markets, open-air dining and signature events. Summers are hot, when street festivals and exciting nightlife are key attractions. Even the coldest months of winter offer advantages for travelers, because hotel rates drop and crowds diminish slightly.

Times Square hotels

Times Square hotels offer every kind of amenity and price, from budget-conscious accommodations to luxurious penthouse suites overlooking the revelry and excitement of the neighborhood. Inexpensive-to-moderate hotels include The Time Hotel, Wellington Hotel, Doubletree Guest Suites and The Westin New York.
