Interesting Visit

  • WheresMyReservation
  • Apr 15, 2012
Arrived at the hotel at 3pm for check in. Only had 3 people working the front desk, even though the hotel was sold out for a concert and a convention. Once we waited in long line to check in staff could not find our reservation. I was told that is because the site I used to make the reservation does't use the same reservation software as other websites and it has to be entered manually by the hotel. First woman couldn't find reservation when another woman joined her in searching for the reservation. The second women left the desk to go check things out, leaving the original woman standing there in an uncomfortable silence. This left only one person at the check in desk dealing with the line. After five minutes the original woman went in the back to check on what had happened. After a short wait I was told that my reservation was not made and to wait over there until someone could come help me. After a very short wait the third woman called us over to her station. She had found my reservation under no shows for a date in January 2012, the same date I set up the reservation, but not for the date in April in which I needed the reservation. After showing her my confirmation email and her discussing the situation on the phone with accounting she told me that someone at the hotel put the wrong date in the computer for my reservation. She did find a similar room (one of only two available in the entire hotel) and everything worked out. I have to say the front staff was very friendly and accomindating and this review is more about their scheduling errors. The woman who finally found a room for us even warned us that the room may be a bit noisey due to its location near a highway. This was not the case, but I appreciated her honesty. If you book make sure you have printed confirmation from the site used to make the reservation and you might even wish to call ahead for confirmation. Also, whom ever does the scheduling for the staff needs to make sure more employees are available to check in guests on busy Friday nights. The staff was very good however, it was underminded by management. As for the cleanliness the room was very clean, however there were some stains on a pillow case that didn't come out in the wash. Finally value, I know that hotels raise rates according to concerts and such, but it is annoyning to see the rate increased about 120 percent. Especially when you pay over 200 on a Friday night and they try to get you to stay Saturday night for 80.

Why am I paying for Internet in this day and age?

  • Marcia K
  • Feb 20, 2012
The hotel is great, staff were excellent, and all in all a great stay.....but I don't understand why I have to pay for Internet access? I can stay at most mom and pop motels and get Internet but not at the Hyatt. What is wrong with this picture? Come on Hyatt, come in to the 21st century already!! Totally annoying and really bugged me every time I had to log in! I recommend this hotel but with this one reservation, if you aren't willing to pay for Internet then go down the road to the Adams Mark.

I was initially bummed that I didn't book my reservations in time to get into one of the two hotels that were connected to the Convention at the Adams Mark Hotel. As it turns out, I was lucky not to. The Comfort Suites was in a good location, nearby to the other Convention hotels, and I had a very enjoyable experience there.

We stayed at the Best Western to spend a night in Downtown Buffalo and our stay couldn't have been better. The lobby, the halls, and the rooms were all clean and comfortable! The staff was great (all of them from the afternoon desk staff when we checked in, to the late night staff at the desk offering to call us a cab when ours didn't arrive, the night security staff and the morning check out staff were all very friendly, helpful, and just delightful to talk to).

Very Good Value And Relaxing Stay

  • alfrommississauga
  • Mar 20, 2012
We were just in Buffalo for the weekend for a getaway and shopping trip, and for the price, this hotel is really good (aside- the Hampton, our usual, was booked up that weekend). Location was perfect for us, being close to the Galleria and to the Transit Rd strip stores and malls. The pool and hot tub were clean and the workout room had a good treadmill and a few bikes (the elliptical was an old manual and had some rust at the bottom). The breakfast was average, only real protein being some hard boiled eggs, but was plentiful. Check-in was efficient, and there is a resto and bar attached and a Tim Hortons next door if you want better coffee. The room was on the smaller side, with sink and mirror apart from the tub, and the TV was an old CRT model and to my kid's dismay, only had basic cable included. Wi-fi connection was good and unsecured, so you don't have to worry about getting the code from the desk to get online. Parking is a bit tight coming back late because the lot is smaller and also has some long-termers. Overall, this hotel is a good value and has most amenities, but is a bit dated.

Not what we expected

  • Book Barb
  • Aug 21, 2011
The hotel was well located for our needs but needed more attentive staff members. We went to the restaurant next door for breakfast all three days we were there...no one offered a voucher or certificate or mentioned that they were available. We expected breakfast in the hotel which was not available. The refrigerator and microwave in the room was a nice touch for a hotel at this price, but there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke in the hallways, even though we had a non-smoking room. We were given a room equipped for handicapped travelers without asking or telling us that it would be that kind of room. This meant a floor level shower stall, that was confined by the presence of a fold down seat, and a hand held shower nozzle that did not have any presure and would not adjust to have a shower in the middle of the stall. There was also virtually no counter space around the sink which I am sure was so that a wheelchair could turn around in the room. The cleaning staff used the grab bars as towel rails. The sheets on the bed were stained and housekeeping was sometimes still working into the evening hours. I suspect the hotel is undergoing renovation although there were no signs to indicate this - only loud construction noises coming from the floor above at a very early hour on Monday morning. There were only a handful of cars in the parking lot, but there was a hand-made sign taped to the door stating "no vacancy." Because the location was so convenient for our family, I would reluctantly recommend the hotel.

went to hamburg for wedding. needed a room to get some sleep and a shower. when i first arrived i was a little worried about what to expect. the office/desk was about 100 yards from a 2 story motel. but when i checked in the young lady at the desk was pleasant and professional. i was surprised at how updated the wallpaper, carpet and bathroom were. everything was clean and all amenities were there. only 1 problem , after a long day of flying and visiting about 11:30 pm a loud intermittant squeal would come from the a/c area. by 12:24 am the squeal was extremely loud and unbearable. I called the desk ,she heard my noise over the phone and came to the room with keys to another room immediately. This was a bit inconveneint but after my wife laughed uncontrolably while the noise went on for so long it didnt matter. Plus it made for a good story to tell family and friends. It actuslly was a blower in the old heater that made the noise, both rooms we were in actually had new a/c units and i didn,t want to forget to mention the mattress in both rooms appeared to be fairly new, no sags or dips in them, we slept well after this incident. I would definately stay here again. I also would like to mention that I work for a large hotel chain and one of our main concerns is customer satisfaction and I think this hotel does very well at a discount price!

We were there to see family and go to a Buffalo Bills game. The staff were very friendly, and gave us tips on places to eat in the area and the best way to get to the stadium. I tried to print our boarding passes from the free computers in the lobby, but the printer didn't work. The woman at the desk pulled up my reservations on the front desk computer and printed the passes on the hotel printer.

Niagara Falls visit

We were visiting Niagara Falls. Hotel is pretty far away, have to take expressway to get to it. Gas stations in the area were closed on Saturday morning. Hotel was nice and clean. We stayed in a one bedroom suite. The mattress on the pull out couch was ripped. The pool looked nice, but we did not try it.

We choose Residence Inn because they have one bedroom suite- the exact room type that we need. And the price for this room is very reasonable. Especially with the breakfast included. Even more, when we arrived we had barbecue dinner for free (sometimes during the weekdays they proposed such option). Location of the hotel is good: 15 mins drive to Buffalo, 30 mins to Niagara Falls. Staff was friendly and helpful. From the disadvantages: the hotel facilities are not very new. Once a day (mostly during the evening) we heard pipes starting to sound like a drill. But in common I would recommend this hotel to those who want to go to Buffalo region for some days.

Very beautiful hotel in the heart of downtown Buffalo. The room was small but very nice and clean. Not many amenities but the service staff is excellent. Continental breakfast is out of this world.

So so accomodations

  • Business Lady
  • Jul 24, 2009
My only purpose of my stay was to catch an early flight out of Buffalo. You could hear the guests in the next room very clear and they were not talking loud. My wake up call was missed. There was a gas can in the shuttle bus that you could smell and the seats were all torn, very unpleasant in the morning.

I won't be back!

I was staying overnight so that I could catch a plane the next day. I'm glad it was only overnight. When we came to the hotel it was being cleaned and so the hallways were dirty. The sheets on the bed were dirty. The pool and spa area were not attractive. The lobby area was packed with furniture. This hotel is in need of major updates. It's depressing how old the furniture, pictures, and ceilings are. I felt like I'd been sent back to the 80's. Also, they only offer basic stations. In addition the hotel itself is in the most strange position. You have to drive around to your hotel building. It was very confusing and weird because the letters on the buildings weren't even in alphabetical order. You'd have to experience it to fully understand.

"Birthday Party Getaway"

  • Birthday Bash
  • May 15, 2011
The hotel was very nice, clean and the staff was friendly and courteous! My child chose to take friends to the hotel for a birthday party to swim, enjoy the hot tub, weight room and have a fun night! The staff was excellent! The room was clean and overall the kids had an excellent time! It would have been nice to have "pay per view" movies in the room, so the kids could have settled down with a movie of their choice instead of regular television.
