What travelers to Las Vegas are saying

Paris was absolutely gorgeous! I’m so glad that we paid a tad bit extra to stay at that hotel! However, the customer service sucked. We didn’t get the room we paid for the first night but we did get a $50 meal credit which paid for our breakfast the next morning! The food portion was so big that we were both able to eat lunch from the leftovers! (and luckily our room had a mini fridge but no microwave) The view of the Bellagio from our room on the 22nd floor was breathtaking! Bring comfortable walking shoes!! Everything on the Strip looks so close together but you have to walk farther than you’d think. The Deuce is a double decker bus. You can get a 24 hour pass for $8 or 3 days for $20. SO worth it!! It stops at almost every single hotel along the strip and makes it way easier to go to every hotel (or only the ones you want to) without having to walk or take a cab. Fremont St was just as cool as the Strip! We took a cab from our hotel to the Golden Nugget BUT you can take the Deuce here too but it might take around 30 mins with all the stops. The Golden Nugget has a Shark Tank! You can take a tour but I’m not sure how much it is. Fremont St has a light show at night! There are SO many shows and exhibits to see! I suggest getting on Pinterest to do research on them. We went to see Chippendales at the Rio…it was like a $20 cab fare to get there from our hotel. It is definitely a once in a lifetime experience as I don’t think I’ll ever see a show like that again. It was very entertaining but something I would only want to see once, lol. The casinos keep it freezing because of all the people and machines so bring a sweater!! Plus the airport and plane could be chilly. I was hot on the way there but freezing on the way back. I had to buy a neck pillow and a blanket at the airport in vegas so I could sleep on the plane-cost around $40  We booked our trip through Orbitz. It was a little less than $500 for Thurs-Sat.

I don't drink, don't really enjoy nightclubs and really don't enjoy being around people that are a little too different for my tastes and I was a tad worried that Vegas would have a little too much of all of that going on for me to enjoy my experience. My worries were almost completely unfounded. Sure, if you wanted to do or be around all of the aforementioned things, it wasn't difficult but there was plenty to do and see otherwise. I do like to play poker so that kept me occupied but I also went to see some shows and wow, they are all top notch from what I could tell. I have a feeling that shows don't last too long in a city with so much to offer if they aren't. Among the sight seeing/touristy things I did in my three days were as follows: Saw the Pawn Stars pawn shop, went to the Mob Museum (Highly recommend!), saw the B-Beatles tribute show (amazing!), watched Zarkana by Cirque Du Soleil (incredible and makes me want to watch the rest), tried out many world class restaurants, and went down to Fremont Street to check out old Vegas just to hit the highlights. Overall I could not have been happier and since I don't drink, it was a pretty cheap vacation with lots of memories. The reason I wrote this is for those of you that are like me and don't really dig the party atmosphere. It's still a great time regardless so get going!

Las Vegas was great! There was so much to do in so little time. We were able to keep our teenagers entertained with the arcade & roller coaster at New York New York, the Adventure dome at the Circus Circus, ziplining at the Rio, the observation deck and thrill rides at the Stratosphere, the wax museum & shopping at the Forum shops at Caesars Palace. We even signed up for a day trip to the Grand Canyon, which was awesome! Of course there was adult fun too! The only thing that we disliked about Las Vegas was the monorail system. Of course the monorail made traveling between hotels more convenient, but navigating our way to the stations was like being in a maze. The stations are strategically placed in the back of the hotels to make you pass every slot machine, restaurant, timeshare sales pitch, gift shop, etc. If you use the monorail, make sure you have on your walking shoes. Getting to a monorail station requires lots of walking.

Indulge in the Glitz and Glamour of Las Vegas

Las Vegas has become the world’s most popular holiday destination, with more visitors per year than any other city. That’s quite an achievement for a city that’s sprung from the Nevada desert and become a scarcely believable playground for all tastes.

Las Vegas hotels come in all shapes and sizes imaginable, from the Luxor pyramid, to the glitz of Caesar’s Palace through to the decadent luxury that is the Wynn & the Encore at the end of the Strip.

While the city is marketed primarily as a place for adults, there’s plenty for families to do as well. Most of the hotels in Las Vegas have catered in some ways for the underage, Excalibur has nightly jousting shows over dinner, Circus Circus has an indoor rollercoaster and amusement park & the MGM has a fantastic five pool complex complete with waterfalls & grottos.

Vegas is also the worlds largest conference and convention destination – you can be pretty sure that every hotel on the strip (and a lot of the off strip Vegas hotels) are hosting at least one gathering on any given day of the year.

With more meeting space than any other city in the world, Las Vegas hosts a number of high profile events throughout the year, including the ABC Kids Expo, the International Vision Expo West 2014, the Solar Energy Trade Show and Mr. Olympia. The city has a number of luxurious convention facilities, including the Cashman Center, the Sands Expo & Convention Center and the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The large casinos offer a variety of dining options, from buffets to gourmet food to simple cafes. Also, Las Vegas is known for great steakhouses with high quality meat cooked to perfection. This city is also home to the famous “Heart Attack Grill” which serves incredibly high calorie menu items such as the “Triple Bypass Burger”. Most of the hotels on the Las Vegas strip feature both café type eateries through to fine dining, if you haven’t been to the SW steakhouse at the Wynn (named after Steve Wynn’s initials!) then you’re missing out. The wine selection is second to none and the food is to die for.

Major Points of Interest
The most famous attraction in Vegas is gambling and there are countless enormous glittering casinos where you can spend hours hypnotised by card games and slot machines. This city also offers lots of great nightly entertainment, including comedy shows, live musical theatre, erotic dance clubs, variety shows and circus acts. Also, get a thrill on the rides, such as “The X-Scream” at the Stratosphere Hotel and “The Roller Coaster” at the New York New York Hotel. That’s not all that Las Vegas has to offer though, you’re only a short drive away from untouched desert with some of the best vistas in the States, Red Rock Canyon is less than an hour away, as is the world famous Hoover Dam, or the more adventurous could always book a helicopter ride and see the Grand Canyon.

Las Vegas is a shopping lover’s playground, with many great malls to choose from. The Fashion Show Mall offers sweet styles from popular designers, the Town Square provides relaxing open air shopping and the Las Vegas Premium Outlets boasts discounts on your favorite brands.

The city’s most important sporting event of the year is the finals of the annual Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association circuit. It is held in December at the Thomas & Mack Center. A number of hotels in Las Vegas have also hosted the annual World Series of Poker, most recently the Rio Hotel and Casino has held that honor attracting tens of thousands of professional players from across the globe. Las Vegas also hosts the USA Sevens, part of an annual circuit of events for rugby sevens teams.
