- Dec 22, 2012

Not a very comfy room

The bed was comfortable, but the room missed some furniture: no table, no chair, no chest of drawers, no fridge, and not many hangers. All in all, the place was ok to get a good night of sleep, but not to feel a bit settled down to stay a few days.

I had a 4-night stay in Vegas. The first two nights I stayed at Sam's Town because the rooms were comped and the next two night I stayed at Boulder Station, which is located about 2 miles north of Sam's Town on Boulder Highway.
Boulder Station remodeled their rooms with a more modern look during the past year and the room was nice. There is no in-room safe and no box spring for the mattress. The bed at Sam's Town had a box spring and I found it to be more comfortable to sleep in. The resort fee at Boulder Station is triple the price of the fee at Sam's Town. The only noticeable difference is you get the newspaper delivered to your room every morning at Boulder Station.
The staff at Boulder were very friendly. There are several restaurants including a great deal at their Buffet if you have a Player's Card. There's also a Burger King, Starbucks, movie theaters, and a play area for kids in the casino.
The hotel is located about 15 minutes east of the Vegas Strip depending on traffic. I rented a car and there was plenty of parking available. The only annoying thing about driving to this hotel is the speed bumps. Practically every hotel in Vegas has a speed bump, but this one has way too many, especially if you enter from the north entrance on Boulder Highway. There are several entrances to the casino, but there's one small entrance that is right next to the elevators to go to your room. It's located on the northern part of the building next to the pool.
On my last night I had to wake up early (6:15) to get ready for my flight, but there was no hot water for the shower. I didn't have a choice so I took a cold shower and after about 10 minutes of showering the hot water magically started working. I also noticed the sink was clogged up whenever I had the water running for a short amount of time.
I had a room near the top floor, so I had a nice view facing south. The window in the room even slides open several inches for some fresh air. No coffee maker, but there is an iron and ironing board.
Overall, the hotel was nice, but I prefer Sam's Town because of the lower resort fee, more comfortable beds, and the indoor park & water show. Sam's Town also had a McDonald's, Sbarro Pizza, and Panda Express at their food court.

Decent budget-priced digs, with benefits

Admittedly, I had very low expectations when I booked a room here. I was pleasantly surprised. The location is excellent, and the property is small enough that you don't get exhausted walking between your room and the casino or parking garage.
The room was adequate, nothing more. It was cleaner than other similarly budget priced properties. The mattress was comfortable enough, despite that concavity that develops on the side everyone sleeps on. The room had a free internet connection, but you have to plug in. If you want WiFi, you have to pay. The TV is one of those old non flat screen models with a really inferior selection of channels. There was also a pod type coffee maker, but no coffee pods or cups or sugar/creamer packages. One nice touch: you get a couple complimentary small bottles of water each day.
The casino is small, but quite nice. The property was running a promotion and I got a couple free steak dinners at the Mad Onion restaurant, which you would ordinarily pay about $6 for. For free, they were actually pretty good. For $6, they'd be marginal. Service in the restaurant was excellent, and fairly fast.
I usually refuse to stay at a property with resort fees, especially when they are as high as these. But they had a super low $16 per night special, and when you factor in the free steak dinners, I think it was an OK deal.

Staff were friendly, room was clean. I enjoyed that I could just park and walk into the room. Free breakfast was good but did not include coffee. They give you coupons for free coffee in the gift shop and you could get the coffee there and bring it with you into Denny's this will save you $4 and change. Over all it was very good for our needs and will go there again.

A generally good experience. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The staff that we met were efficient, pleasant and english speaking.
The beds were really firm so I ended up a little sore. We did not get an ice bucket liner the second day. The room was non-smoking but had a little smoke odor but not too bad unless you are sensitive to cigarette smoke.

Wonderful hotel off the Strip

Annual visitor
- Dec 16, 2012
I always stay at the Orleans because it is convenient to my family whom I visit every year. Much less traffic because it's off the Strip. Very friendly staff and casual restaurants, as well as fancy ones with excellent food and value. I am amazed at how inexpensively I can stay here! Great casino where I can play tables for $5 minimum or poker slots for as little as a nickel. Love the atmosphere here too. I will return.

I must be honest. I didn't stay here while it was still Fitzgerald's but the D was very nice for the price we paid! Clean rooms, nice decor, easy check in, etc. We love Fremont, and this will be our first choice for hotels when we come back!

Arrival was mid afternoon vegas time, and check in was long, check in is not permitted before 4pm unless pre arranged so there was a lot of people waiting to be checked in and only three or four staff on the desk. The room was comfortable and had everything needed and the water was always hot 24/7 there was a room safe which is always handy and is not always available at other hotels on the strip. i only had two gripes about the room one was no biggie but with two of us staying in the room the storage for clothes and other personal belongings was very limited, and we could not fully unpack. The other was a little bit more annoying, even though the staff respecfully acknowledged the do not disturb sign that we would leave on the door if we did not want the room serviced, when we did allow acces to the room the service could have been better, the main problem being that we stayed there for 9 nights and the bed was made but the linen was not changed for the whole duration! overall the hotel was great and the location was superb, would stay here again, especially at the great prices being offered.

This was our second stay, and we like it because the rooms are quite large. The beds are comfortable. It is quiet, (just off the strip). The food in the cafe is very reasonably priced and tasty. Our only complaint is the internet which you pay for in the resort fee, does not include internet in your room, only in the public areas. They don't tell you that specifically.

For the price, a good deal. Lots of little things wrong, and one big one: air conditioner not adequate. Free wifi pretty weak. Very nice facility. Large oversized room. Quiet! Nice to be off the strip and away from the large crowds. Will certainly stay there again!

Attended Guns N Roses concert. Great time. People in a happy and friendly mood. Staff very pleasant, always saying hi can I help you with something? My son had a great time as well. If you want a break, a little off the strip with some music entertainment, helpful staff, 24/7 good food, this is the place. We will go again and visit and recommend HR.
