What travelers to Las Vegas Strip are saying

There is no place like Las Vegas as far as I know. It's a big town in the middle of the dessert where, basically, no one should even live. It is very culturally diverse, endless entertainment options, events to see and places to stay from dirt cheap to extremely expensive. It's fun to wander around the city and not just "The Strip". I've seen fantastic shows & famous Hollywood stars for inexpensive, gambled in the fanciest places (Ahh, be careful!), and gone off to visit the nearby desert too. So too, I have gone to the neighborhood seedy bars and found them worthy of a visit too, you know, chat it up with the locals. Always fun to visit, never boring, but I am not sure if I would want to live here. But, I could tell you some weird stories. My recommendation: Yes, you gotta see it at least once and don't get totally lost in the fancy-pants luxury hangouts.

My boyfriend and I will be going back as soon as we can save up for it, but we will only go in winter. We went in the beginning of July, and we literally had to stay inside during the day, if we wanted to do anything at night. And we're from Louisiana, so we're use to heat but not desert. That has to be the only negative thing I have to at about Vegas. During our week long stay, we only went to two shows: LOVE(Mirage) and 50 Shades! The Parody (Bally's). Both were an absolutely amazing experience for my boyfriend and I. We absolutely recommend these shows to anyone old enough! We loved the nightlife! We're not big clubbers so we found a lot of free admission, cover bands to go see. We mostly would just walk the strip casino hopping and we wouldn't have changed a thing.

Las Vegas has something for everybody: all type of great shows, restaurants galore, superb spas, and lots of sun! Casinos are optional. We wandered through various hotels just to see the great architecture and splendor of these buildings. Bellagio and Mandalay Bay are the best. Don't miss the aquarium at Mandalay Bay, neither the Elvis show at Hollywood Planet. A visit to downtown is a must. Being the sin city, Las Vegas is NOT a family vacation spot. Everything is planned and curated for adults! The sea of booze, the merchandise, the shows, the noise, kinky displays and the just vulgar vignettes popping at any moment are not anything than children can enjoy, neither process in their young minds. This is an adults playground.

Bask in the glamor of the Las Vegas Strip

A sparkling length of light in the middle of the American desert —it's hard to resist the allure of the Las Vegas Strip. Though famous for its access to gambling, nightclubs, and celeb-hosted parties, the Strip shouldn't be overlooked for the world-class shows, restaurants and shopping it also has on offer.

Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign

It's fitting that this is the first stop for many as they embark on their Vegas nights. Like those who have come before you, snap a photo in front of this iconic sign, which has been located on the south end of The Strip since 1959.

Of course, the casinos dominate the skyline and are the focus of nearly every traveler that ventures to the Strip. Some of the more famous money houses include the Aria, the Bellagio, the Venetian and the Wynn. There are 30 other accommodation choices to keep you equally entertained.

Vegas's reputation as a playground for adults can seem quite literal when you look to the New York-New York Hotel and Casino, and see The Roller Coaster taking travelers screaming through the casino (as well as outside of it). Meanwhile, the Stratosphere welcomes the bravest of visitors who want to ride the Big Shot or Insanity, the two highest thrill rides in the world. They literally sit on top of the hotel, high above the Strip's skyline.

Las Vegas is known for its high-class entertainment, particularly its lavish stage shows. Cirque du Soleil performs various, distinct shows at a number of casinos. Also popular are performances by famous entertainers like Criss Angel, Penn & Teller, and comedian Carrot Top.

Casinos are the cornerstones of the Strip, and as such, they-re naturally a major part of the excitement. You can find slot machines and poker and blackjack tables in each and every one.

Las Vegas has famously hosted some of the most historic bouts in boxing history, and title fights are still regularly scheduled for venues located on the Strip. Additionally, many of the most important mixed martial arts (MMA) fights are held at places such as the MGM Grand Garden Arena and the Mandalay Bay Events Center.

The Strip is located in the Mohave Desert and is home to extremely dry, hot summers. For this reason, it-s important to stay hydrated and limit your walking during the afternoons if you are visiting during these months. The average high temperatures in July and August exceed 100 degrees. Conversely, many do not realize how chilly it can get during the winter, with average lows in December and January dipping into the 30s. If you have some flexibility, plan to visit during the spring or fall when the weather is much more pleasant.

McCarran International Airport (LAS) welcomes visitors from several American cities, as well as far-flung places like London, Panama City and Seoul, South Korea. Many visitors grab a taxi to take them to their Las Vegas Strip hotels, which will run about $20. However, the WAX bus is another option that few visitors realize exists. It takes passengers from the airport to the New York-New York Hotel and Casino near the southern end of the Strip for just $2.
